    I hope its Murton, SG, and Cedeno. I'd do that right now. Sign Lofton after that and we'd have one temporary weak spot in the lineup in Riot (I'm assuming after sucking enough, Lou would get tired of him, as he has of pretty much everyone else who has played like total crap).

    According to that Joeyguy on OH the two trades will look like this : O's get : Jones, Tillman, Sherril and Chen M's get : Bedard Cubs get : Roberts O's get : Gallagher , Murton and Cedeno He said that Roberts to cubs will happen very soon after Bedard to the M's is completed. I know this is about the 500 time we have heard this but this time there are 2 guys from the baltimore sun saying that Bedard should be gone next week. As much as I hate to even acknowledge OH related speculation, I could certainly live with giving up those players for Roberts.

    That would imply the Padres were actually wanted to trade Greene. True, it's a jump, but given hi refusal to extend his contract and their desire for Murton, it does beg the question. Obviously, Murton wouldn't get the deal done alone. Maybe throw in Patterson and Cedeno as well? I'd be shocked out of my mind if thats all it took.

    I wouldn't be upset about it. If we're going to actually take a run at Pie, theres absolutely no room for Murton in that OF. I'd probably want a prospect with Byrd though.

    Lou showed very little patience with people sucking last season. Barring a hot streak, Riot won't be in the two spot for long. Don't see anything to make a big deal about.

    Seeing as it looks safe to proclaim the possibilities of acquiring Brian Roberts as being dead, we still have these two "significant moves" on the horizon. What the heck are they going to be? One logical choice would obviously be Marlon Byrd of the Rangers, hopefully spinning one of our veterans (Dempster of Marquis, but thats probably just me dreaming) off for a platoon buddy for Pie. There are also the rumors of Gary Matthews Jr. although this are much more unfounded and probably less desirable. This still leaves us with a second "mystery" move. This would presumably be for pitching although with Lieber, how much actual incentive do the Cubs have to go in this direction? They could also be looking at yet another second baseman although one would hope they're not that crazy. I suppose there's also the pipe dream of them upgrading SS but really, who wants to replace Theriot? So folks (especially you Bruce, whenever you return), what happens next?

Kind of misleading by her though, the title is "convention starts with trade rumor", and then she just gives the Hendry quote about a RH outfielder and says one possibility is Marlon Byrd.     OH insiders just verified this rumor and confirmed it with at least two sources. Sounds like its a done deal. I hope you are joking. They've "confirmed it with their sources" about 100 times since this rumor began back in 1959. It's impossible to tell what is a joke and what's not in this thread at this point. Bigbird from OH said it's not true. So wait if they say its not true that must mean its true right?

    I think if the trade actually happens, no one should post about it. We should just leave what will probably be 100+ pages of speculation alone.
