  1. Finally my first Cubs game on my HD TV! Please try not to make all that glorious high definition ugly Cubs!
  2. I don't want him to fail. I just want him to not be successful. Unbelievable. I thought we were past the point of wanting to withhold success from our players. Post-Neifi, if you will. I hope Reed Johnson plays like this all season and throughout the playoffs (assuming we get there), that doesn't mean I don't fully expect him to hit reality in the next month or so.
  3. What is? That Pie is struggling and Johnson is succeeding? If anyone of you guys are disappointed by Pie struggling, that's understandable, but if Johnson is playing better, he deserves the playing time and I don't see how you can be annoyed by production. No, stop slobbering all over Johnson, he's a utility player who's pretending he's a Cardinal right now. The "Oh Pie will never, ever have a chance" is what I'm talking about.
  4. - He's playing over his head. - See above. - Hopefully, that way he can be SS when Riot comes crashing back to reality (I still refuse to believe he's "figured it out"). - If not it won't be long. - Yes, very. - Yes, hopefully he can keep the ERA under 4 for the season. - Sure - And, who isnt'!
  5. This is easily the most annoying trend of the 08 season.
  6. What's the point of even calling up the poor ole' adorable Red head? Wait a minute....Marissa Miller was in town, and Murton is in town....maybe the Cubs were trying to set the young man up, as an apologize for treating him so bad as a player? :-k With that said......trade "The Murton" before you kill all of his value. Dang. Why does it make sense to take Theriot out? He has a six-game hitting streak (11-for-26). He's hit safely in 12 of 16 games. He's batting .302/.371/.429. Granted, those numbers probably won't hold up, but why not ride it? Theriot is the Cubs' shortstop until further notice. When he shows he can't do it or when he slumps, Piniella will move him down in the order or sit him for a few games. Right now, he's not hurting this club one bit. Hey Bruce, if you're still around any word on Murton starting in the near future? Nothing yet. What I'd like to see is DeRosa go back to second and put Murton in left for a stretch of games. Wouldn't we all. Just curious, you haven't heard anything on the Crisp situation Gammons seems to have made up have you?
  7. I was actually a little put off by the whole bowing thing but damn those are bad.

  9. Wow I never noticed Holliman moved up. Does he project to be anything these days?
  10. Nice. Now if we could just get Marshall out of the LOOGY role...
  11. Its times like this I love rotoworld:
  12. Oh, I agree. A lot of the behavior out there is embarrassing, and should be fixed. But to say that is emblematic of most Cubs fan's behavior is ridiculous. I hope that beer guy from today got roughed up a bit afterwards. That was incredibly dumb.
  13. But every fan base has obnoxious tools. If the Cubs do have more than most other fan bases, it's only because they also have a bigger fan base to sample from. Rocket, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've never lived in a state thats in close proximity to Boston and NYC. There's NO way Cubs fans can come even close to Yankee and Red Sox fans. I'd even bet Philly fans are worse, they're just mean spirited from the start. Just ask cubmanpi
  14. Tell me about it. How is it that Boston is ready to move on to Ellsbury, and yet the Cubs can't wait to move Pie back to Iowa? Maybe because at least Ellsbury's OBP is close to .400. Also, the Cubs have shown no signs of wanting move Pie back to Iowa, if they did I'm guessing Lou wouldn't be working with him one on one. Man hyperbole is fun! And if the Cubs acquire Crisp, where do you think Pie will end up? If the Cubs acquired Crisp, I promise Pie will be back at AAA. That would require me to believe that Gammons, who has been dead wrong more times than I care to count, is right. Also the Cubs are going to trade for him despite already signing a more than adequate alternative who is actually over producing? Yea sure... I know its really cool to assume Hendry has absolutely no idea what hes doing around here but I'm certainly not afraid to give him enough credit to believe that he's not really interested in Crisp. That rumor didn't even get a quick blurb on Rotoworld for crying out loud.
  15. Isiah Thomas finally done as Knicks coach, and even after all he's done he has been kept on in an advisory role. Good lord who does he have dirt on?
  16. Yeah, I'd settle for that. Yea I'd say I could live with that as well. Win plz.

  18. On Wednesday Bruce said Lou was going to hold out Pie and work with him 1 on 1 to help fix Pie's swing and that this would initially be 2-3 days. Being Friday, thats pretty much expected. I'd wait until Sunday to get upset (barring lefties of course). EDIT: Raw puts it better anyway two posts earlier. Not sure if I'm down with the "Lix" nickname though...
  19. I'm pretty sure I was an all-out Dusty apologist for at least 03 and prob most of if not all of 04. Man did I feel stupid.
  20. Gammons said that Lou is not happy with Pie and his .160 AVG or something to that extent, and went on to say that Crisp is the best defensive center fielder in baseball and that he could be a solution for the Cubs leadoff problem. Overall Gammons acted like it would be a good deal for the Cubs as a second option with Roberts being the first. Ok, that makes me feel better. It sounds like Gammons is speculating here, and I think there are several reasons why his speculation is way off: 1) Crisp hasn't started the season that well 2) He's day to day with a hamstring injury. Lou's already frustrated enough with Soriano's leg injuries. He isn't going to want to acquire somebody with a balky hamstring and an injury history. 3) Lou is working with Pie considerably, and from all his quotes seems to indicate that he knows that Pie would continue to destroy the ball if sent down (with all his quotes about how he just wants to translate the great production every time he's at AAA), thus making it useless to send him down. They're certainly not going to do anything with Pie until this week of hands on coaching is over and he's given another chance in the field. After Johnson's big game yesterday, Pie's chances of playing regularly are just about gone. Anytime Pie plays, he better get two hits or he'll be back on the bench. That would seem to go against the only legitimate info we've heard however...
  21. Basically that Lou is personally coaching Pie in adjusting his swing and thats why he might not be starting much for the next few days.
