  1. So we have this ugly/creepy guy: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2007/06/10/MoNQKvdk.jpg 1-1, 2.14 ERA, 15/5 K/BB vs. this dude who clearly has better taste in women: http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/3781/2434aa0e087889a5c3b9299vy7.jpg 1-0, 0.69 ERA, 10/4 K/BB Also some toothpick-chewing, walk-hating, veteran-loving, holy water-sprinkling, Game 6-blowing, arm-ruining, Neifi-enabling jackass is back in town. He may look something like this: http://thenastyboys.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/baker1109.jpg Cubs you are required in every way imaginable to win this game. Just do it idiots.
  2. I have a bad feeling I'll be starting tomorrow's game thread. If thats the case, I will put it up, I just might get in a little late. Oh and get your crap together Cobs
  3. But can we do that without the spousal abuse jokes, tho? But if they make fun of the reporter incident they'd have to make [expletive] jokes and thats just amateurish.
  4. That might be the dumbest thing I've ever read about.
  5. How in the hell are the Cards in 1st place??? Same way the Royals and Marlins are
  6. My first Cubs game since Game 3 of the NLDS. Plz win Carlos
  7. I hope they go 20.
  8. Hey Fred are we just meeting up at the ballpark tomorrow?
  9. Stop playing with my emotions Ronny. We both know you suck so why don't you start acting like it.
  10. Letting me get to see Hill, Z, and Lilly in Philly would be totally fine by me Cubs.
  11. somebody should be by shortly to toot his own horn I wasn't aware giving a professional opinion on weather was 'tooting his own horn'.
  12. No. Do you?
  13. Sometimes I wonder if he's actually just parodying himself at this point.
  14. I think that sham closer post might just become NSBB's version of "If Zambrano starts, your in trouble..." Where is that post?
  15. I believe this means they're actually upgraded from Cobs to Cubs now. Nicely done boys. Better win the next two series (especially Philly!!!)
  16. Rotoworld:
  17. Better question is how the hell are the Cardinals off to best start since 2000. Tim Kurkjian (or some other ESPN anchor, they are all the same to me) picked them to win the division and I laughed at it at the time but now... But now what? Now that they've started the season 4-1 you think they're going to make a huge run at the division? There's absolutely nothing to 'but now...' about. Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, the White Sox, and Florida are atop their respective divisions, you worried about them too? I could see Tampa Bay hanging in for awhile Tampa's going to surprise a lot of people this year. I'm not saying they'll make the playoffs, but they have a solid young core of players and they could be good for a long time, much like the Brewers are starting to be. I think you're right there as well. I wouldn't be shocked if they put up a winning season.
  18. Umm, hes played since being beaned. Yes, I know. I didn't say it was broken -- just sore enough that they're holding him out. It would be the absolute wrong move to have him gut it out through pain in his hand, putting additional pressure on him if he doesn't perform. I'm surprised they let him play the day after that. Im not saying you are wrong Tim, but Im yet to see this anywhere else but from you. What can I say? Sometimes I hear things through email. Nothing I would put a tremendous amount of faith in except for the fact that it seems really logical. It does seem logical but what seems more logical from the Cubs is he didnt produce for 4 games so we are playing the veteran And what seems even more logical is that - based on your comments - you are hell-bent on making a logical leap and concluding that the Cubs have given up on him, in spite of the fact that: - He was beaned and is hurt - The Cubs did not and have not pursued another everyday CFer - He has been the starter in CF since Day 1 this season - The Cubs outright refused to trade him this past offseason, even though evidence suggests that including him in a package with other players would have greased the skids in the Roberts talks. I'll buy into the injury theory. The Cubs had chances to trade Pie but they didn't, so I don't see them giving up on Pie after 5 games. He'll get a grace period, but not for a whole season. Hendry will not sit idly if he thinks Pie might cost him his job. When you have a selfish GM who is desperate to win immediately everybody is on a short leash. Thats being pretty unfair and unrealistic. You're telling me, even as fan, that if the trade deadline rolls around, and we are neck and neck with Milwaukee and Pie is still not producing you would say "no we shouldn't try to upgrade there, let him learn" and leave a weakness in your lineup for the playoff run? And as for the selfish comment, judging by the Cubs payroll, I'm guessing he's under pressure to win. So therefore he's selfish for trying to do what his superiors demand of him (AKA HIS JOB)? You seem to expect a hardworking guy to say "Oh I can't possibly build a proper team, its best I just leave a job I've worked a long time to earn as it can't possibly be whats best for the team". Try realistic expectations sometime, they're really swell.
