  1. Even good posters with all their sample sizes in order can make dumb posts.
  2. I'm definitely in if there's room.
  3. Actually Easterling is much more the speedy CF type you're complaining the Cubs take too many of, than the corner power type you are wanting more of. But those chiseled abs...
  4. hahahahahaha Nice catch imb! That might be the dumbest thing I've ever read and that includes HCCF posts. Even the ones in the politics thread.
  5. Man the farm has been kinda a downer this year.
  6. Is that last bit accurate? Do we have any sort of ace pitcher, even if "ace" is very optimistic, that we can pencil into the rotation over the next couple of years? Without at least one of these can we really compete? Between Cashner, Whitenack, McNutt, Carpenter, and Archer there has been some heavy turnover in elite pitching talent in the last year to the point where I don't see us developing a true Ace soon. Other than C.C. opting-out are there any free agent prospects in the next few years? I think the "only as a reliever" bit is just their speculation, which they certainly seem to be fond of doing. I haven't seen anything about him being switched back to a reliever except in two blurbs on that site.
  7. For the sake of playing devil's advocate, couldn't you just as easily assume that the Hendry will make desperate, short-term minded moves in order to retain his position? You would think if Hendry were going to something like that, this past offseason would have turned out differently than it did. You could also say that perhaps he didn't foresee this season going quite so disastrously. In the off season there weren't a bunch of articles calling for his job and it looked like the Cubs were situated to do marginally better than last year and might even be able to make a run at what looked to be a weak division. Given that situation and the tons of money coming off the books after this year, why would he do something desperate?

  9. That's why I made the signings thread
  10. Sorry if this is a repost but I thought I'd put this brilliance here: http://nbadoppelgangers.tumblr.com/
  11. I am totally on board with the "I'm Looking Through You" love. So underrated. Off the same album, 'If I Needed Someone' is one of my fav's. God I love George Harrison Speaking of whom, "Let It Roll" has recently become one of my all time favorites.

  13. Too bad the Cubs minor league system has been broke for some time. The prospects to choose from are pretty bleak. They have a LONG way to go to get to the Red Sox level. Oh...and some good talent was shipped for Garza (who's been pretty average so far). Hendry gone may help but I am not a fan of how Ricketts wants to improve this team. They need free agents at this point. Not rookies. Not a single word of this post is accurate Sorry you were wrong. If the account wasn't two years old, I'd say it was fake.
  14. Figured I'd start a thread for this to help keep things organized. Mods should definitely feel free to merge this if it's deemed superfluous. Deadline: August 15 So far... Brad Zapenas - SS - Round 42 (6/8/11)
  15. Seconded. Also, thanks for the signing deadline date.
  16. When is the signing deadline for picks?
  17. Beeler is in AA already? Holy crap
  18. Fixed. I vaguely remember a time when there was some reason to read JeffH's posts, but I could be wrong. Now he's so ludicrous I think it must be a running (unfunny) joke to him. You remember incorrectly. The mistake is understandable however, as he doesn't seem to post unless the Cubs are doing horribly. 07/08 must have been hard years for that guy. JeffH actually has a pretty good understanding of baseball analysis and occasionally will flash that understanding with an outstanding post. I do wish it happened more often, though. You should save it the next time he manages to share a pearl of wisdom inbetween 5984398437 boneheaded posts.

  20. uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
  21. I must be seriously missing something in regards to how this is an actual topic worthy of discussion.
  22. Lieutenant Daniels!?!? Also, JT Thomas is a BAMF
  23. Same here. I did a double take when I saw that line.
