    He wouldn't turn down that money in any universe. He has enough leverage to get his opt-out and NTC too. If Loria is one of those old misers with a smoking hot 20 year old GF he may as well negotiate that in too just to really top it all off.

    If he can't reverse the trend of his declining slugging % from being pitched outside consistently then how valuable is his mega-contract when someone who is 6'5" 250ish loses his speed? I'd still rather take Stanton and the extra cost with his profile.

    It's fun to be linked to every FA and trade target. And the reasons why are undeniably good. I would love to have Jason Heyward, like any team would. But he's expressed wanting to explore FA next year and you can always pay him then, he'll only be 26. We already have Soler and very easily Bryant there soon. I wouldn't make a move for a position player unless it's CF or C. Or Stanton. ETA: I'm well aware that I did not answer your question at all.

    I expected a crummy ERA and good peripherals. In reality, he's got a crummy ERA, crummy peripherals, and averaged 89 mph with his fastball while working primarily out of the bullpen. He hasn't been particularly interesting in a couple years, not since he stopped being a college pitcher beating up on kids in A ball. If you're one of the few who doesn't find a 3.5 GO/AO rate interesting...

    That is such a beautiful thing to see. It's nice to enjoy before they end up 9-29 in 1 run games somehow and Arrieta needs TJS.
