  1. After all the physicalness we've seen tonight, they call that on Sopel!? [expletive] that.
  2. Get him back for your Cappy boys, WTG!!
  3. Michael Leighton, you have escaped 2.5-to-3 bullets already... how many more live-saving maneuvers you got in you the rest of the night?? - the early seconds' shot that was redirected by his own guy and he barely kept in front of him - the shot that got through and pinged off the bar - & the immediate open-net rebound from that pinger that Toews unfortunately whiffed on
  4. Wha... My TV just screwed up. Did they just call a penalty no Pronger, IN Philly!? I don't understand. :-k
  5. No scores yet, but goodness. You don't think both teams don't know what's at stake?! Gah. Just makes the nervousness and anxiousness all that much worse!!
  6. [expletive]! Why couldn't that Flyer-redirected shot have snuck under Leighton and in!?
  7. Better make it at least 8, or I'll still be nervous as all hell that the game will still be in real doubt.
  8. Not exactly sure how I feel about this game. We know that the Flyers will be playing with all kinds of desperation, because its literally a 1-loss-and-its-over point for them for tonight (and Friday night*, [if necessary]). They'll have an added help with the game being in their place. I don't think the 'Hawks absolutely have to or should match their desperation level (to try and win that way), but they are going to have to approach the game with a "give it all we can" attitude. Philadelphia has faced this before, needing to win to either stay alive or advance, and proven they can do it. Gah! I want to be :yahoo: :clapping: \:D/ :stickman: so badly in about 3.5-4 hours' time, as the Chicago Blackhawks skate around the ice hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup, its ridiculous. :beg:
  9. Finally watched the replay of G5 just a bit ago, and the end of WCFs again too. To say I'm psyched and all gigged up for tonight's game [in a few minutes' time] is a massive understatement. As an aside, I agree with those who said that first period was really awesome play by the Blackhawks. Shoot, I'm wondering how they were kept off the scoreboard for as long as they were! They were going at Leighton like their lives depended on it, literally! I have no idea how Philadelphia ended up almost evening the SOG, because the Hawks were throwing the puck at the net like crazy in the first and parts of the 2nd periods. What a great freaking game at a time it was very much absolutely needed; now let's do this and win it all on Flyer ice!!
  10. Figures I'd have to miss the first 2 periods tonight (working), but getting to watch Buff roll the puck in past Pronger for the last goal was AWE-SOME - [sharp's goal was verrrry sweet, too]. Going to record the NHLN-HD replay so I can see the first 2 periods as well, can't wait to watch the opening 20 minutes. Sounds like it was about as good as can be according to the comments earlier in the thread. While I wouldn't be surprised if it has to come back to the UC - which would be awesome for the fans with G7 tix - I would love to see the 'Hawks win it in Philly just to throw it in the Flyers' fans faces. Still think that the Blackhawks are gonna win it all regardless, just a matter of which game/location it'll be done in.
  11. ridiculous. I honestly don't know why this is happening. We've all seen Philly get away with blatent penalties all series. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd suggest that the NHL thought the Blackhawks would roll over Philly coming into the series and had to find some way to try to even them up a bit. If that were the case, I'd expect a much more even officiated game in Game 5. It would make sense to have this occur too. 3rd and 4th biggest NHL markets, both teams have tradition and passionate fan bases. The Blackhawks are a really enjoyable team to watch (or so I've been told) and the Flyers are the ultimate Cinderella. There are storylines galore, and if there was a series that the NHL could use to put their game into the national spotlight, this would have to be it. That said, I just have a hard time believing in conspiracy theories unless there is some sort of proof (NBA Doughnahy). So it really perplexes me as to why the Hawks are getting such a bad shake from the officials. Even weirder is how no one is picking up on the disparity. I think the announcers, especially Olczyk, are seeing it - they just either aren't allowed to say it, or are voluntarily keeping their mouths shut about it. I know someone said they showed the slash call by a CHI player on Pronger, on CBC, but both 'Doc' and '"Eagle-Eye" Eddie'" admitted complete confusion on the call because they're own replays didn't catch it. And numerous times, both are heard saying during games "[PHI player] got away with one there against [CHI player]". Sad thing is, Gary Bettman is right there in the stands - at least he was @ both games in Philly - but still its happening with alarming frequency.
  12. Put me down for "whoever wins G5 tonight, wins the SC". - IF Philadelphia wins tonight, I see them also winning the next one at home; ie, PHI in 6 - IF Chicago wins tonight, I see them losing @ WC again but winning it all in Game 7 back home in the UC
  13. Two of our three goals came on a deflection off a Flyers' stick and a weird play where it got caught in a defenseman's pants and he backed it into the net. How much more puck luck do you want? I'm not disagreeing, but seeing all the chances PHI got around the net on rebounds or bad/mishandled clearances and the Hawks're lucky that the Flyers didn't put a 10-spot on the board.
  14. Puck luck, as described above, really did favor the Flyers tonight. - A shot that got through Leighton, but PING'd the post - NUMEROUS bad clearances from CHI - NUMEROUS mishandled passes or complete whiffs on shots and passes by the Blackhawks - A couple of PHI's goals came on perfect setup passes or deflections from CHI players & - Despite the 5-on-3 late and numbers of penalties on both sides, it was still questionable overall and in the Flyers' favor most the night, and last game too Add all that up, and you get a 5-3 game and 2-2 series. Simple as that.
  15. Well, its gonna take 7 to win it. Unless a miracle happens, the refs will do everything they can to make sure the Flyers win G6 at the WC, so need to win the 2 games in the UC to win this [expletive].
  16. They call a penalty in a 2-goal game with :17.5 left?! [EXPLETIVE] YOU REFS!
  17. Thanks Duncan. Thanks ever so [expletive] much!!!
  18. O M G...... holy [expletive]!! What action!!! CMON HAWKS!!
  19. Screw Leighton! Beeper is making saves he shouldn't be.
  20. You mean for PHI, right? Just sit tight, now that its a 1-goal game, the refs will make sure they get one coming up.
  21. If the Flyers score here, soon, I'm gonna flip my lid.
  22. I don't care how it happened, its 4-3 PHI [expletive]s!!!
  23. I'd like to think we go 2-0 on goals in the last 5:40... but yeah. No.
  24. [expletive]!! In the last 2 series, any time we got a big pile at the net on scoring attempts, the puck found the ice behind the goal line more times than not... this series, just the opposite.
