  1. Watching Joe Buck try to act - ie, trying to look much more excited than he really is - is waaaaaay down my list of "things to get done before I consider my life a full one".
  2. Man, I was actually a little excited for this game... but after all that........ ugh. Again, no offense meant towards the old Legends, but damn.... 45-60 minutes after the broadcast starts- for the start of a sporting event - is a little too long to hold my attention.
  3. This may make me the biggest arsehole in the history of arseholish behavior, and absolutely no offense meant towards the All-Time Greats, but the pomp and circumstance before the ASG is just way too much anymore. Why can't they schedule the pomp an hour before they usually hold it? I'm lucky enough to not have to work until the afternoon/evening tomorrow, but the game isn't starting until like 8:45-9 EST (in the middle of the work week)... shouldn't happen that way.
  4. 4.5 & 5.0 games up at the ASB is a little less than we all wanted, but considering some of the alternatives... I'll take 'em. And even though this isn't the Cubs' game thread, THANK GOD we won't see Lincecum again this year!
  5. Problem with that is, you start analyzing every single game looking for how we should be leading the division by even more games. And at the same time, we've won a few improbable games as well (the 10-9 game vs the Rockies, after being down 8-1(?), perhaps?). Been there, done that.
  6. Right now I don't give a big rip about the WC, but as the season winds down, it'll be fun to keep tabs on it to see when the Cubs will secure the WC spot; should the unthinkable is a possibility to happen (someone else wins the Central).
  7. Listening to Pat Hughes and Ron Santo get excited by a big Cubs play never gets old. Ever.
  8. I sure hope someone was smart enough to call 911 when Aramis hit that, cause a ball was just murdered!
  9. I don't think they'd go lefties on back-to-back days Z Harden Lilly Dempster Hill What an unbelievably awesome problem to have if that were to be the case... a (current) 10-win All-Star as your "4th" starter. :yahoo:
  10. I'm a little torn on the issue. For sentimental value, I wouldn't mind seeing Greg back in the rotation's 5-hole, but in the end... would he be significantly better than Marquis/Marshall? Probly not. Sure Marquis and Marshall have been, or can get, knocked around slightly more than occasionally, but what can really be expected of a 4th/5th starter?? In the end, if we go for another SP, I'd rather it be a proven type of pitcher; than a guy to just throw in there at the end of the rotation and hope he basically just eats some innings and keeps games within striking distance for the offense.
  11. All is currently right with the world (Cubs with best record in MLB and biggest division lead). Not a better way to start off the weekend, and it being the last weekend going into the break.
  12. Looks like Jimmy has some ownage on one Mr Correia. Which of course means he'll go 0-4 tomorrow with a couple of Ks. :P
  13. Here is the wish for tomorrow's contest: We get to see a Harden inserted, perform well for a long duration, and then be replaced by Good Wood; & then everyone goes home happy and satisfied.
  14. I think the more pertinent question here is what were the seismograph readings like at the time of that triple around Miller Park??
  15. I need something to help soothe the pain of this loss today... Ahhh... that's a little better.
  16. I hate asking for miracles and things I can't get, but yeah... a 6-run inning would be oh so cool.
  17. Every time the ball goes in the air - for the Reds - I expect it to somehow find itself out past the basket and fence, even on foul balls!
  18. I wanna see 3 more this inning. Let's make it an even 10. WTH.
  19. THAT IS BS!!!!!!!!!! HOW DID EDMONDS' NOT GO OUT!?!?!?! God & Mother Nature hate the Cubs today, for whatever reason.
  20. "Its kinda like clogging the bases, dude. The possibility of errors keeps the runners moving."
  21. I'm not saying Fontenot should have been safe, but this brings up a point I've always wondered about... how many times have the SS or 2B caught the flip after they've already crossed the bag but the ump calls the force out anyway at the start of GIDPs?? Sometimes they look so fast, it makes you wonder if they were toeing the bag as they caught the flip/toss or not.
  22. Last time an error was committed, you scored 2 Cobs.... more plz!!
  23. I must have fell asleep and am dreaming... was that 1-2-3 inning?! multiple-
