  1. eh, this offensive malaise will not persist. Even if they lose today. Just a question of how much pain we have to endure until they get it together.
  2. Are you kidding me?? Why another fastball to him???
  3. Nice. Is it just me, or Does Mark Grace claim every pitch is right over the heart of the plate?
  4. Wow, Reynolds' "clutch" splits are pretty extreme
  5. The Rangers are owned by Tom Hicks of Hicks Muse, an equally influential private equity firm. He wasn't exactly afraid to spend money on ARod and ChanHo, not that they were smart decisions. There are different motivating factors between making a private equity investment as an LP in a fund with a fiduciary (not to mention compensetory) responsibility and personally buying a sports franchise. Lets not forget that Cuban doesnt approach the financial decisions in his entreprenuerial ventures the same way he approaches his ownership of the Mavs.
  6. delete this thread immediately Yeah, my bad. About time for a pub crawl on the west coast.
  7. MYSTIQUE and Aura dance at a seedy club somewhere near Curt Schilling Of course, he's born again, so he never said that (yeah, way off topic).
  8. delete this thread immediately Hey man, Ankiel is clutch. At least he didn't set a record for strikeouts like Aramis. Prove me wrong!
  9. Crap, Ankiel just tied it with a HR
  10. Me too actually. I was feeling pretty confident that we would start off the second half on a run that would be fed by Sori's return. This might end up being an abberation and we might still go on that run, who knows. We do have Z and Demp to close out the series then Harden going on Monday. I still think they will. One bad game doesn't change that. But the offense has really been pathetic on the road.
  11. Mil scoreless at SF in the 2nd Cards down 7-6 at home against the Padres
  12. 2 Home Runs in the last 7 weeks. Odd that his July OPS has been .969 with no homers
  13. Yeah, though they were counting on Snell and Gorzelany being better this year. Anyone have details on why they have underperformed so badly? Is there something physically wrong with either/both of them?
  14. Was it common knowledge among BP readers that Christina Kahrl is a transgendered individual? Also, I have a lot of respect for people like Nate Silver who break out of the corporate rat race and do something they are passionate about. Managing Partner at 30. Very cool.
  15. Thanks for posting that. It was a good read. For some reason I thought PECOTA and BP had been around longer than that.
  16. I wish they had game scores for position players like they do for pitchers, only inverted. This would have to be the definition of the worst game score you could think up. Uggla would have been better off going 0-4 with 4Ks! I can't remember a worse single game performance by a position player.
  17. I never really used to watch allstar games until the rule changed. I'm not saying this is right by any means, but it has accomplished its goal in terms of interest with the average fan, IMO.
  18. Well that sucked, but the Cubs pitchers were awesome tonight. I hope this gets Marmol's confidence back in order after having shut down the best the AL had to offer (in addition to working through a defensive lapse).
  19. Almost like a trading deadline acquisition without giving anybody up. That's sort of how I feel about Soriano too. I'm so optimistic regarding the rest of the year! I'm not sure I've ever been more proud or excited to be a Cubs fan! It's obvious that a season-ending injury is coming. For whom, Hill? Even that would hardly be devastating to their chances this year. To be honest, even if Harden has to make a relatively brief trip to the DL it wouldn't bother me that much, as long that the Cubs are extra cautious regarding his health come playoff time. I was joking. It seems like we've been too lucky. Something bad just has to happen. We already have had DL time for Soriano and Z. It's not like we've been immune. The team still persevered.

  21. untrue. Yeah, he shoudn't have thrown from that position, but he was one decent throw away from ending the game. That inning wasn't on him IMO. I am definitely glad that Marmol will be getting some time off over the break. Hopefully Lou learns from this.
  22. So if they actually do score this inning, it would be yet another example of the BS-ity of the pitcher "win" rule in baseball.
