  1. Did his steroids suffer an injury? if only steroids hadn't caused him to need TJS How long ago did he have it? Guys come back rom TJS all the time. had it in 2005 and was out all of 2006. He's never been the same. We're talking about a guy who had over 150 saves over 3 seasons, a Cy Young, etc. The guy was unhittable. I'm not generally down with the mud slinging regarding steroids, but hasn't the accusation/innuendo been that he used roids to get to where he was as a closer? And his breakdown and injuries occured when he stopped? Not saying that is the case at all. Just questioning how this argument as been framed.
  2. Haren seems to be getting hit pretty hard by the Dodgers tonight.
  3. 3 pitches, 1 HR, 1 double for Gagne.
  4. hahahahahaha, you've got to be kidding me. WTF? unless he hurt himself..
  5. Do we have Marquis going tomorrow? Maybe he can spin one of those out-of-his-arse CGs. Who's pitching for DBR?
  6. Nice approach by sori and riot. This is the way to work out of an offensive funk.
  7. Were they supposed to wrestle Z into the MRI machine? In the old days, they'd put a date on someone coming back from injury, but then the player never would. If they don't know what the situation is, I'd rather they say so than try to reassure fans with unrealistic projections. COme on, they're clearly holding stuff back. Lou first lcaims he's skipping Harden's start as a precaution, then he eventually admits something isn't right....then the next day finally admits there's discomofrt. Meanwhile Harden keeps claiming he's fine. So Harden is the one we can't trust!!! It's a campaign by Harden to make sure people buy playoff tickets!!! And he would have gotten away for it if it werent for you kids and your dog. Ok, there is rarely a good time to bust out a Scooby Doo reference, but I think you nailed it.
  8. Well this stretch just adds to argument that head to head and home/road splits don't matter all that much. it's all about how you are playing at that time, especially when sample sizes get smaller. For an additional point of reference, the Cubs swept a 4 game series vs. the Stros in Houston in 2004, when they were playing poorly. This stuff happens.
  9. final in Washington - 9-7 Natspos. :)
  10. I have to say, it is pretty sweet to lose 5 straight late in the season, still be 30 games over .500, and likely have knocked a game off both the division and playoff magic numbers. :clapping:
  11. Probably: Aram walk Soto walk Reed (inexplicably hitting against Valverde) DP Cedeno K Valverde has a seizure
  12. See: 2007 NLDS Cubs v DBacks Better now than in a month. word
  13. Strange eh? I don't get what goes on inside Z's head... I think he doesn't want the embarrassment of another email related injury becoming public.
  14. Yup, though an off day might not be the worst thing for this team right now.
  15. We've had a real slump. This is the second one. We came out of the other one tied for 1st place. Not a big deal though, as much as people would like you to think the season is over. Meh, that slump was really treading water over a 32 game stretch. They never looked this bad then. Wat? I'm talking about the 4 game losing streak and the inability to score any runs right after the All Star break... remember that? OK, I guess I modified the sample to suit my argument. That 4 game streak was part of the 32 games, but fair point.
  16. I haven't been able to watch the whole game tonight. How has the offense's approach been today? Has Wolf been hitting his spots or have the Cubs been impatient?

  18. 5-5 top of the 8th in Washington with a runner on for the Phils.
  19. Boy this blows. Well, they weren't getting through the season without one real slump. Nobody does. Here it is and fortunately they have built a cushion. Though I'm not ready to give up on this game yet.
  20. CUBS are 48-3 when they score 7 runs or more. Games like last night just don't happen that often. Exactly. It was one of those games. IT HAPPENS. It certainly wasn't bothering me during school today. On that front, did Lou say anything in the post game about maybe scaling back on the Howry in high leverage situations approach? Haven't read anything about it.
