  1. I'm personally torn on this.... I'd much rather see the Cardinals go away, due to the fact that they really have no business being here altogether. Secondly, I think I'd prefer to see the WC come from the NL East. Part of me really doesn't feel all that comfortable about facing the DBacks in the NLDS, assuming they win the NL West. The whole Dunn, C Young, Drew, Johnson, Webb, Haren combination just doesn't sit well with me... Having the Dbacks vs. the NL East winner would seem to play out better in my world, especially if it goes 5 games with all the coast to coast travel. I like the idea of an NLDS against either Philly, the Mets, or the Fish a lot more than I like it against the DBacks. PLUS.... in that scenario, the Brewers don't make the playoffs, and there's no worry about us facing them in the NLCS (assuming we were to get there). I know what we did to the Brewers two weeks ago, but they still do scare me enough. In conclusion, I guess what I'm saying is that I think I'll be rooting for any NL East team to beat any NL Central team (except the Cubs), thus propelling the Cubs to the division championship, and an NL East team to the WC. Make sense?
  2. Th earliest the sun will come out in Atlanta---according to weather.com----is 3pm tomorrow. So my guess is....tonight's game will be called. Tomorrow's game will be played between the 3pm-6pm opening tomorrow, and a good ole-fashion double header will be played on Thursday. They don't need the sun out. They just need the rain to stop. The field will drain once the rain is done. They can play at noon or 1 tomorrow, night game tomorrow night, and then just one game Thursday.
  3. Unfortunately, it JUST started raining in Atlanta, and is not likely to stop anytime soon. I'm thinking we're playing 2 tomorrow.
  4. Doesn't look promising. :| I could live with a 2 hour delay and then a chance for Harden to go 5 innings uninterupted. Color me pessimistic, but I'm not seeing this game getting in tonight. Looks like at minimum, an inch to inch and a half of rain will fall, albeit light, but steady for at least the next 6 hours. Maybe some bonus baseball tomorrow...
  5. The Brewers are in a stretch of 10 straight games against last place teams. They go to the west coast for the next several days. They should take 2 out of 3 from the Padres, but I can see them having a very tough time against the Dodgers this weekend, esp. without CC and Sheets going for them in that series.
  6. Just doing some quick math, the Cubs are 70-46, meaning there are 46 games still left. After Z's start tomorrow, 45 remaining games would mean a full 9 more times through the rotation...and that's before you consider off days in which Marquis could get skipped here or there and maybe turn the rotation over one more time... Either way, it would appear to me that Z is on track for at least 10 more starts, including Saturday's. 20 wins seems like a stretch to me...if he keeps up the current pace, he'll end up 18-6, which would be more than fine with me!
  7. Sabathia retires the side in order, striking out 2, throwing 14 pitches total.
  8. Edmonds as a Cub... .284/.384/.621/1.005 :D His career averages .286/.378/.529/.907 He's Out-OPSing his career average by almost 100 points! Go Jimmy Ballgame!
  9. Balester 2-3, 4.55 ERA 1.39 WHIP Sabathia 5-0, 1.88 ERA 0.96 WHIP Nationals Bonaficio, 2B Guzman, SS Zimmerman, 3B Kearns, RF Milledge, CF Flores, C Belliard, 1B Harris, LF Balester, P Brewers Weeks, 2B Hardy, SS Braun, LF Fielder, 1B Hart, RF Counsell, 3B Cameron, CF Kendall, C Sabathia, P
  10. It's August 8th and the Cubs have 70 wins. :D :D :D
  11. So someone tell me....did Shark go in the clubhouse, cut his hair, and put on a Howry jersey so he could pitch a 3rd inning?
  12. How about that Wood guy?? Or maybe Gaudin?? But Howry is the guy... genius Lou at it again
  13. Too bad Howry's on our roster today and is pitching the 11th should we get there. I'd really prefer a run here.
  14. No. He is putting up Jacque Jones #'s. It's also his first year playing in the bigs. That excuse is lame, IMO. He's 30 years old. It's not like he's a 20 year old kid who has 12-14 years of solid production. He hit well in April and has been mediocre at best 3 1/2 months. JMO. Hideki Matsui put up very similar numbers at a very similar age his first year in the bigs in 2003... .287/.353/.435/.788
  15. 4 innings for Lilly, 38 Pitches... 30 strikes, 8 balls. Not too shabby
  16. Looper's PC at 50 through 3....As long as Lilly keeps them in the yard the rest of the day, we should be ok once we get to that pen.
  17. No it's a FOX game. Brenly took today's game off so he could go see his son play Thursday through Monday, knowing he'd only miss one game during that stretch
  18. Dan Plesac. Everytime I see those two words, I cringe. Then I hear him babble about something completely inaccurate or irrelevant, and I throw up in my mouth.
