  1. Seriously? You have got to be kidding. You propose trading Ramirez, Bradley, Cashner, and Jackson for Miguel Cabrera and you don't understand why that's a horrible deal? As for Cashner and Jay Jackson, I'm still not convinced Cashner is as valuable as Castro or Vitters. I get the feeling that Cashner is a Samardizja type of pitcher. You probably get that feeling without ever seeing him pitch. Actually smartass, i saw him pitch in the fall league. I've never seen him pitch and I can say pretty definitively there's not much to support your assertion.
  2. I can't imagine any scenario in which the Cubs would acquire Overbay.
  3. 10 bucks says it's Oakland. Maybe Bradley and cash for Mark Ellis. I believe Ellis is owed a simliar amount as Luis Castillo. Jeff Baker>Mark Ellis. Theres really no reason Jim Hendry should have a job at this point. Not sure how you'd figure that Baker is better than Ellis.
  4. Eh, I didn't know that. I mean, to officially be the team captain, one must wear the "C," no?
  5. 10 bucks says it's Oakland. My guess as well, actually.
  6. cst:cubs: Source: cubs close to two-team deal with surprise AL team for Bradley. Could happen tonight.
  7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrek_Lee When did this even happen? Is it true? I'd be perfectly fine with it, but still.
  8. I was a bit scared of how much Hendry was going to pay anyway.
  9. He should pitch for the White Sox, then.
  10. How is Guillen that much different than Burrell? Pat Burrell has been a damn good hitter for most of his career with a couple bad seasons, Guillen has been a horrible hitter most of his career witha couple good seasons. And what either of them are any more is a platoon power outfielder who are aging quickly. Burrell has a better hitting pedigree, but Guillen is not a comically bad defender. In a perfect world I prefer Burrell, but if it means the difference in adding someone like Cruz as well as Guillen, I take that over Burrell every time. Burrell has shown he has the ability to be a good hitter, whereas Guillen has done nothing but be an out-machine.
  11. I'll go ahead and save the drama and say Zambrano is definitely near the top of the list.
  12. from mlbtraderumors.com Definitely couldn't complain about that.
  13. How did that prove your point? Zambrano has a better winning percentage than 41 of the the 68 pitchers in the HOF. Are you saying that Zambrano is a HOF pitcher? $2 million+ per win in 2009. What a bargain, Hendry. Oh wait..his VORP and WHIP were great. =D> =D> OR I just got my argument destroyed so I'm going to make fun of stats I don't understand!
  14. Bruce Sutter, Rollie Fingers and Satchel Paige. He did say STARTING pitchers. Sutter had exactly zero major league starts, and Fingers and Paige had few enough starts they weren't considered starting pitchers. Regardless, this was the key part of his response to benchwarmer's asinine thinking: Thanks for also proving my point. Still waiting for that HOF pitcher list to enlighten me. I am trying so hard to figure out this could conceivably prove your point. It runs completely contrary to your absurd argument and you're embracing it.
  15. If we ended up acquiring Jose Guillen I'm pretty sure I'd become a White Sox fan.
  16. Wins have been the #1 standard for the effectiveness of a starter since baseball began. Not true. And wins are a team statistic and a completely useless stat when used to measure a pitcher's effectiveness. The number of times a team won and a pitcher was arbitrarily awarded a win aren't interesting. K, BB, K/9, BB/9, K/BB, WHIP, IP, RS, OBP/A, and ERA (+ inherited runners scoring for relievers) are much more interesting and telling. But that's just me. "Wins' completely useless? :P Wonder why Kerry Wood is looking for a job. Come on.
  17. I've been hearing Iowa Orange Bowl rumblings. I'd much prefer that to the Fiesta Bowl anyway.
  18. I'm not gonna lie, I'd rather play Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl but I'm certainly not going to complain about this.
  19. When I had Sprint I never had any reception in Wrigley, but it works just fine with AT&T.
  20. Fingers are going to be crossed pretty much all day for the Fiesta Bowl.
  21. Wins have been the #1 standard for the effectiveness of a starter since baseball began. You don't really believe this. I feel it.
  22. I'm confused as to who the second DH in 2007 was. The rest of the outfield was pretty strong defensively.
  23. I'm not sure how Felipe Lopez is a "decent" option.
