  1. Nearly pissed my pants I'm sorry, I should have said slightly less valuable. I'm not sure you know what "slightly" means Do you really think Milton Bradley had any trade value in MLB??? He hasn't had trade value since he went after the Royals announcer or had to get taken down by his Padres manager. Aside from one inflated year in Texas, he's a statistical joke with nothing but peripheral stats that are a pipe dream because they never amount to actual production over a 162 game season. Fact: Milton Bradley has had NEGATIVE trade value for several years. Because of this it was stupid for Hendry to sign him in the first place. lol wat Why the hell was their a market to sign him as a free agent for anything above league minimum if he had zero trade value? And statistical joke? Really? Come on. You don't believe that garbage. Should I retype that in all-caps?
  2. He was a PR nightmare on the team that cares more about PR than almost any team in sports. You don't have to like it, but it doesn't make it untrue. That still doesn't make it something that they have to do. How would this "PR nightmare" effect the team? The Cubs stunk last year because 2B turned into a black hole offensively for much of the season, Soto was fat, hurt and awful/had a ton of bad luck and Soriano was bad and playing hurt. Bradley definitely got off to an ice cold start offensively but ended up being a productive player. People aren't going to stop buying tickets and merchandise because of Milton Bradley. Milton Bradley can't make his teammates play worse. Never at any point has moving him beein something they had to do. Who gives a [expletive] if he doesn't like the fans? BECAUSE HE WAS A DISTRACTION IN THE MEDIA, TO HIS MANAGER AND HIS TEAMMATES. NOBODY LIKED HIM AND NOBODY WANTED HIM AROUND. IT WAS A BUSINESS DECISION THAT HE HAD TO BE REMOVED FROM THE CUBS PERFECT, HAPPY, FUZZY, STUPID EXISTENCE. That's just how that [expletive] works. I don't care about any of that despite the fact you typed it in all-caps. No smart person cares about it, either.
  3. Ha ha alright tough guy. So i guess you work for the cubs front office and knew it was an option in their thinking. We dont work for the cubs smart guy, and it was obvious they didn't consider it an option but yet you continue to beat this idea that somehow, keeping bradley was an option the cubs were still considering. No. One. Cares. About. Their. Thinking. Damn. It.
  4. Hey guys, this thread is now about pandas. Mods plz change the title thx http://imgboot.com/images/arthomure/pandas.gif
  5. Common sense says Silva is in the rotation. How do you figure? Common sense says anybody with Silva's stats doesn't immediately get a spot in the rotation. No way Piniella is that dumb to give him a spot without battling for one. When the competition is Tom Gorzelanny, Sean Marshall, and Jeff Samardzija versus a huge contract, it's common sense. Really. There's not going to be a real competition. When the competition is a long time prospect in Marshall who has shown he can start and another prospect who you've claimed to be a starter for a while now, no its not common sense. Wait, who have I claimed to be a starter again? With Lilly hurt - it's common sense.
  6. Ok genius, so what do you do other than this trade since you seem to know what options were out there. If you release him, you dont get the 6 million that you just saved. And again, not sure how anyone can assume he'll be in the rotation, especially coming off injury and with those numbers. Well, I am a genius, thank you. The option is to... keep him! And yes, Silva will be in the rotation.

  8. The trade isn't that bad once you hear how much money the cubs saved. Though i still would've preferred Castillo from the Mets in some kind of deal. It makes you wonder that maybe the Rays weren't willing to take anything of miltons salary. It also depends on what hendry does with that money. They really didn't save much, and they downgraded talent. One team came out of this deal with a useful asset, and it wasn't the Cubs. True but because of Hendry's dumb mistakes, they had no choice but to trade him. I would have preferred they kept him but Hendry ruined that relationship with the suspension and the open negotiations. Saving 6 million over two years is better than nothing. The idea that we had no choice but to trade him is patently stupid.
  9. What does it mean to call someone a meatball anyway?
  10. It's okay guys, Rich Harden gets hurt a lot. This is a lateral move in the rotation at worst. And since Silva is probably nice (since he's fat) we're going to have great chemistry.
  11. The NL doesn't have a book on Silva, so I'm certain he'll take the whole league by surprise. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/101-preguntas-de-historia-de-M-xico/Carlos-Silva/e/9780307392749 101 preguntas de historia de México: Todo lo que un mexicano debería saber by Carlos Silva The NL can easily read it before the season starts.
  12. As much as i like the guy, Bruce Levine has really annoyed me this offseason. He continues to defense Hendry and acts as if this mess isn't hendry's fault. And then you have him updating ESPN 1000 every so often by saying he expects a bradley trade within the next few days. This is pretty much what Levine has always done.
  13. The chances of it happening are between zero and zero.
  14. Juan Pierre's hits show awesome results.
  15. No, it's not better than nothing. I'd rather not make a single move this offseason than sign Marlon Byrd.
  16. He will, i guarantee it and so will Joel Pineiro, who's asking for a Wolf type contract. Hendry will overpay, you just watch. i honestly havent though much about the cubs since college football started, but this post really just made me angry Sorry bud, its just how Hendry operates. Last year the player i least wanted was Bradley and Hendry signed him. I never in a million years thought they'd pay that much for miles and Hendry paid it. I never thought they'd trade Derosa away without getting Peavy and he ended up doing so. When you try to predict Hendry's moves you have to think of worse case scenario and not best case. Granderson, Cameron, Halladay, etc were all best case. Worst Case is Podsenick, Byrd (Yes Byrd, dont overrate the guy after his career year), Overpaying Piniero, etc. We'll see what happens but I doubt Hendry pulls off anything good. The best move he made was not trading away Castro, Cashner, Vitters, etc. Though i still would've traded Vitters for Granderson. You can't complain about "best case scenarios" for this offseason. You're blaming Hendry for not getting Granderson or Halladay in one breath, but complimenting him for not trading Castro, Cashner, and Vitters in the next breath. Well in the real world, it would haven taken at least two of those guys (plus others) to get either Granderson or Halladay. As for Cameron, he would have been a nice pickup for 1 year or 2 years and less money than he signed for. He also would have been a nice pickup for the exact amount he signed for.
  17. You'd gladly take a completely unproductive player at 4 million a year? More power to you.
  18. Aren't we a little dramatic? I wasn't asking you or anybody to ignore bad moves Hendry has made or asking you to give them a chance. I said hey lets see what the heck we do this offseason, before we complain how mediocre the team is going to be. Also if you think Hendry is not capable of making good moves, then I don't know what to tell you. But lets at least see what moves we make this offseason before we make these type of judgements or start killing people. This is incredibly old. You were towing this line last offseason and will almost certainly be towing it next season as well.
  19. I don't know where to begin with this one. Who cares how much he strikes out, an what evidence is there that his skills are fading? Cameron is a great ballplayer.
  20. With the Mariners pitching staff and absolutely phenomenal defense, they really won't need a huge offense.
  21. I think I could stick in center field longer than Ryan Church.
  22. If Cameron is off the board and Bradley's gone, it sounds like we have a Marlon Byrd signing coming up. Great.
