He had a bum shoulder last year that is doing better. His OPS-plus the year before (05') was 136(!!!!), and is 116 this season. He's only 26. He's got monsterous power potential. Fair enough. I don't know much about the guy, so I'll take your word for it. -

Wait, I must be missing something. I think this guy had a good first half in 2006 and that's about it for his career. He's never played over 120 games and his OPS last year was right around .750. -
Man, they do not know how to evaluate crappy shortstops.

I'm not in the "we really need another reliever" camp, but seriously, adding Gagne would probably make us an elite bullpen. Wood, Marmol, Howry, and Dempster would all be solid bridges. We could get by on a starter going only 5 innings without having to put in a trash pitcher.

Personally, I'd rather have Greene. Their OPSs will be similar, but Greene's is based on power. -
Forgive me for being skeptical of someone who just got here.

Okay, I had never noticed this before so I hope someone knows... why has Church only played 102 games in a season at the most? Is he injury prone? There's a 40 point difference in his OPS between righties and lefties for his career, which certainly doesn't seem to warrant a platoon.
