  1. The issue with Tim Redding is that he's an absolutely terrible pitcher. As in, worse than Jason Marquis.
  2. Presumably we'd get at the very least a strong indication of signability before making the deal. I don't think that will happen with the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers, Angels, and Rangers willing to outbid each other. We're one of the big spending teams too.
  3. You were supposed to not post in Edmonds threads while he was going good. Now he's gonna tank. oh no, you're wrong. this is my, how would you say........"my i told you so wet dream"? :D And look how well that worked out for Felix and Ronny. oh, felix wasn't going to play, anyway. for whatever reason, lou hates him, that's not going to change until hendry forces his hand. might as well sit back and relax while edmonds does well--and be smug, very very smug. Lou tried to work with Felix. The reason he hates him is his strike zone awareness sucks as does his plate discipline. He thinks he is Soriano when the Cubs were hoping for a Carl Crawford/ Willie Mc Gee type. More inside info?
  4. Just keep Howry in the damn game Lou. I hate him so much.
  5. And we're going to have to use valuable pieces of the bullpen to finish this one too. Awful.
  6. Kevin Hart should be sent down for anyone.
  7. Come on Hart. This is no way to say you deserve to be up here.
  8. I think not, umpire. I hate the sympathy calls on 3-1 counts.
  9. Damn it, that would've been two runs with Theriot playing short.
  10. If he nets us Sabathia, I will not miss him Any Sabathia deal should hinge on him signing to an extention, otherwise he's not worth Pie. I disagree enormously, considering Sabathia would make us the favorites to win the World Series.
  11. When you say the bullpen you mean Marmol and Wood. Everyone else should be rested. Right. And the thing is, I pretty much trust everyone in the bullpen except Cotts to have a good outing more often than not. Even if Marquis only goes 5 or 6, Lou should be able to avoid using them with some combination of Eyre, Howry, Lieber, Cotts, and Wuertz. This is an extremely deep bullpen.
  12. That'll work. Although the Jays are only 5 games out and Boston just lost Ortiz for a month. And they have Marcum/McGowan/Litsch all developing. And I believe that Toronto wouldn't mind from getting AJ's contract off the books, and reinvest that money into acquiring another bat. Do we really want to put our hopes in AJ Burnett? He's as much of an injury lock as there is in the game. He'll probably make 20+ starts, but it's pretty reasonable to think he wouldn't make it into October. He's not having a very good year to boot.
  13. You're consistently quite pessimistic, UMFan. I mean, we're all Cubs fans, so pessimism is natural. But to just outright dismiss the Cubs chances in October as you have is a bit ridiculous considering their play so far and the talent on the roster.
  14. Like I said in the other Sabathia thread, I don't see why it would take more than Pie and Hill. That's more than the Twins got for Santana. And it's not like the Indians would be in good negotiating position; any team that wants him could just sign him after the season anyway. Now we just need to figure out who the other frontline starters that might be available are. Joe Blanton seems like a guy Hendry would love.
  15. Soto's been playing badly and his vote lead has only increased - by a ton. Nice.
  16. That board has some good posters and an absolute idiot for an admin. It's embarrassing.
  17. This is moderately amazing. Jim Edmonds current line with the Cubs: .286 .324 .543 good for a 119 OPS+ Sure, it's a small sample size fueled almost entirely by the past five days or so, but hey... it looks okay.
  18. I know reading WSI is a bad idea, but it's just too damn fun... After our own jonred said "The Cubs have a larger fan base, so they logically get more attention," the WSI admin responded with "You should not be in this thread and statements like the one that is highlighted will get you banned for trolling." My God, it's just too funny.
  19. Reminder bump.
  20. I'm not sure I like our chances today. Marmol should be unavailable and I'm not sure that won't be the case for Woody as well. Considering that Marquis is not even close to a lock for six innings, I think the bullpen might have some serious problems today.
  21. Fielding percentage is one of the most astoundingly worthless stats in sports.
