  1. Sherill is death on lefties. I think this is over.
  2. Wow. Okay, Cedeno's hot start was a complete mirage.
  3. Whoa. Come the hell on Ronny. He's wild.
  4. It's time for Cedeno to earn all the praise we give him.
  5. If DeRo grounds into another double play I'm going to... well, I'm not going to do anything, but I'll be irritated.
  6. Carlos Marmol's brief career was quite remarkable.
  7. Why would you ever swing at that pitch? The only possible result was an easy ground ball.
  8. But Wright has a gold glove.
  9. I don't think that's necessarily far-fetched. I think the Cubs as a whole just needed one year under Piniella and Perry to shake off the Dust, and this year's the payoff. I'd be curious to know how much Dusty's Giants teams walked (other than Bonds).
  10. I'm stunned a Sox fan knew what OPS was.
  11. I doubt they'd be able to keep either of them, with about a -99% chance of Sabathia being re-signed. Frankly, I wouldn't be shocked to see both Sabathia and Sheets in Yankees unis next year. I doubt Sheets would interest the Yankees after the trouble they've had with Pavano's injuries. Obviously, Sheets is much better than Pavano, but durability is probably something they're looking for.
  12. Clement is the only rehabbing Cardinal that I'm pulling for (so long as that success doesn't cost the Cubs).
  13. Close is relative I suppose. Since '06 Atkins has been a little low on slugging, but in '06 he bested Ramirez in pretty much every relevant offensive category. This year isn't looking much better for him, but he's shown the ability to put up those kind of numbers. In '07 he bettered him in RBI and Runs, about the only category he was low in was slugging. '06 is the only year he's been close. The fact that Atkins sometimes has higher totals for irrelevant statistics like RBIs and runs doesn't change that.
  14. Atkins isn't even close, and he's only a year younger than Rammy.
  15. I know one is Sean Marshall because I was at the game. I have no idea who the other is. EDIT: Scrolled down to see I got that right, at least.
  16. People here weren't happy with the drafting of Cashner, right?
  17. I was at the game so I didn't see this. What did they talk about exactly?
  18. It sure doesn't seem like they have the talent to keep up their current play. They currently sit at 4 games over .500 and are 1.5 games back of the White Sox. They have only three hitters with OPS+'s over 100. The bullpen is pretty good but the starting rotation looks iffy. So, there's no reason they should be expected to continue having success... right?
  19. Honestly. Who can you absolutely take over him? Alex Rodriguez Chipper Jones when healthy Wright seems like a tossup. And no one else should even be in the discussion now that Miguel Cabrera has changed positions. I know it doesn't matter, but I wish the national media would give Aramis the kind of press he deserves. He's absolutely an elite player at his position.
  20. I know he's a rookie. I know he's going to struggle at times. And I know he's not a .900+ OPS player in all likelyhood. But jeeze, when I posted this about a month ago people weren't worried. He's still been pretty bad since then. I love Geo as much as everyone else here, which is why I'm so concerned. Could this finger injury be hampering him? If not, what's going on? And what can we reasonably expect from here on out? I predicted a .275/.340/.480 line at the beginning of the season and I think that is looking fairly realistic.
