  1. D-Lee's double play rate is getting obnoxious.
  2. http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/WireStory?id=5248427&page=1 If the Cubs had anywhere to play him I'd be furious that they're not signing him. But he really can't fit in anywhere. If the Rays want to guarantee themselves a playoff spot, they should give him a call.
  3. I have a bad feeling about this series. Say what you will about the Sox, but their run differential is excellent. I think they're a really good team, especially at home.
  4. He had better have an 4 year extension signed if we are trading 6 prospects for him. The original post has the scent of inside information.
  5. This should help ensure Aramis gets his well deserved All Star nod.
  6. If possible I'd like Gallagher kept out of trade talks including him probably means Marquis stays in rotation. The Indians need something good if they're going to part with Sabathia.
  7. I'd imagine any deal would have to include Hill, Gallagher, and Pie just to get the discussion started. Vitters and Murton as well? I'm not really sure what we have that they want.
  8. A Cardinals loss would make this A LOT more tolerable.
  9. Yep. I don't think I've ever disliked a Cubs player more than Marquis....maybe Edmonds through the first week of his Cubs tenure #-o , but that's the only one that comes close. He's awful in 80% of his starts, has a horrible attitude, and a bloated contract. Todd Hundley says hi.
  10. I know you wanna go home, ump, but just call a fair game.
  11. The Cardinals are seriously going to end up gaining a game on us during a 3 game span in which we played the Orioles at home and they played the Tigers on the road? Seriously?
  12. Lou's being realistic. This game is over. And if the Cubs do somehow get back into it, he'd rather save his pinch hitters for better scoring chances.
  13. Um... are they not allowed to speak or something? He didn't say anything bad.
  14. Okay, I'm speaking for everyone here when I'm ask you to stop this ridiculous act.
  15. Yes, this is completely reactionary. It's reactionary to Marquis' body of work as a major league pitcher, especially during his time with the Cubs. Except for his good start to last season, he's been pretty much horrendous during his entire time here. He can't strike guys out, he walks way too many, and he has a bad attitude to boot. But, he's got an absurd contract and he's never really been in serious danger of losing his job. I don't think he ever will be. If he's not traded, I think he's going to be in the rotation until his contract is up pretty much no matter what. Agree/disagree?
  16. I think Marquis would have to get his ERA well over 8 for a couple of months for the Cubs to even consider moving him from the rotation.
  17. Not a particularly good throw by Lee.
  18. If the Cubs have any illusions about winning this game, they need to pull Marquis now.
  19. yeah, to illustrate some of the deficiencies of ERA and ERA+, he's been better or equal to last season so far (101 ops+), 4.43 ERA, but with a whip of 1.47, his era was bound to take a tumble eventually not only that, his K-rate is down to 4.57 per 9 innings, and he's walking guys at basically the same rate as last year. his LD% is 21%, which is his worst figure since 2003, so he's actually been a little lucky on balls in play. he's giving up ground balls and fly balls at similar rates to last year, but the HR/FB rate against him is about 50% of what it normally is. the ERA might be ok, but all the peripherals are bad, and basically every sign points to him getting worse. I'd love to think that if we acquire a new starter, he'd be there to replace Marquis and not Gallagher... but I think that's probably not the case.
  20. Edmonds was swinging for the fences.
