  1. this is how I got into the games - they are on at convenient times when I'm having my coffee. Plus just about everything is on demand (except the PL because Peacock?) I love the German games as they are a little more high scoring than the premier league. as an example of the relegation battle, I started cheering for Stuttgart because I have a friend from there - they need the last minute of the last game to avoid relegation two years in a row - this year, they are in the top four!
  2. craziness!
  3. Leverkusen are having quite a season . . . unfortunate they, like Liverpool, are not in the champions league though it could make for a very good europa league matchup
  4. The Tuchel effect in full force. It's beyond me why big clubs keep hiring this guy.
  5. road trip!
  6. also be good if they avoid the drop
  7. this was their first game I watched - they seem to have a lot of weapons but it all seemed to be 1v1s - not much team play. they had no answer for Buie for the part I watched
  8. his individual performance is not the point. the point is that a stellar qb alone won't win. A point you have emphasized despite missing.
  9. who undoes Addison Russell?
  10. which is why he lit up the bad teams but couldn't beat the good ones? yea, I know defense matters. My point really is you can't make the QB decision in a vacuum because it's not a guarantee with any of these guys and there is opportunity cost. If the O line and receivers suck, no qb is going to succeed.
  11. Well, Caleb Williams hasn't exactly done that at USC has he?
  12. Do you guys honestly think getting someone better than Fields is more than a crapshoot? I'm not football expert, but I don't think I would go with a QB at 1:1. Seems like the Bears would be better off building a strong roster than throwing all their eggs (I know that's an overstatement) on one QB savior. I mean, it's not just the Bears that are routinely disappointed by top QB picks. Can't really evaluate without knowing what moves could be made, but I have to think deciding QB or no-QB without evaluating the total value of the available picks is not a good approach.
  13. totally agree. this is why college women continue to get assaulted.
  14. like the 2016 world series? Agree with most of what you said and think the standing ovation is gross. Also agree sports fandom is insipid and at times downright scary. I do think he should have the right to play until he is found guilty
  15. the last three athletico games have been incomprehensibly entertaining - well, the Girona game and two madrid derbies. Who would've guess that could happen?
  16. yea, I forgot how good looking he is . . . or not. City really could have used Grealish in that game - as creative as Doku is, he really disrupts their spacing and flow. Doku reminds me of Ronaldinho.
  17. KDB is back. Damn, forgot how good he is.
  18. Any interesting players to watch in this window? I only know the ones who played at the youth world cups really.
  19. these guys should be good enough to just fire the ball in the corner. all these mind games are pretty stupid imo
  20. This is probably good news as neither Dest or Tillman is likely to ever play at Barca or Bayern. PSV want Sergiño Dest, Malik Tillman loans made permanent - ESPN
  21. yes! With a mild squint, you can see all those being competitive except 6 and 7
  22. and now what . . . they play just as badly but manage a road draw so Ten Hag gets another 2 games?
  23. Probably they kick in gear - they just appear to want to get 1 or 2 up and then take the rest of the night off. Understandable given their schedule but tough to keep holding their leads. It reminds me a little of the year Liverpool did win. side note - if you don't watch the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen are about as fun as it gets right now. Would be great to see BM finally dethroned (though also dubious about that).
  24. I think diving can be hard to be certain of - sometimes players just lose their balance.
  25. City never seem to lose after the New Year but they're starting to dig a pretty big hole. I wonder if fatigue has finally caught them?
