  1. if only he could hit a ball in the air at that speed . . .
  2. well, this is about as feeble a lineup as the cubs can field. We'll let your starter throw 20+ pitches per inning to give you a chance.
  3. http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2016/08/03/193447960/photo-of-the-day-2008-olympics-baseball-team-featured-jake-arrieta-stephen-strasburg-and-more I can only assume they had the 2008 Olympics talk that Lebron, Wade, and Bosh did. Too awkward with Cahill there . . .
  4. well it's being played in 2020 since they are coming back to Japan there's plenty of actually good non-MLB players who can participate http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2016/08/03/193447960/photo-of-the-day-2008-olympics-baseball-team-featured-jake-arrieta-stephen-strasburg-and-more
  5. Who is starting Tuesday? Cahill?
  6. Operation Shutdown. -- eta Until he gives it a codename, it still isn't #1. What did you say old man?
  7. wouldn't Grimm be the one pouting? Fixed "but I'm better than Joseph Smith!"
  8. most likely maddon, like the rest of us, has felt like there is no chance the A's can win a game in this series since Friday's top of the first.
  9. There are 4 or 5 sections behind the Cubs dugout that are about 90% Cubs fans. Was the same thing yesterday also. and Friday.
  10. Rondon warmed up and was ready to go Friday. Ok that's like a half an outing. Still with an off day tomorrow id prefer to get him work. Strop at least pitched Friday I just meant he didn't seem to be hurt.

  12. Childhood trauma probably. That or a general depressive/pessimistic demeanor. When baseball wasn't fun last month I'll admit I started looking at ways we could blow the division but this team is just supremely talented and the Cardinals keep running out Jedd Gyorko. There is no Devil Magic. They're just mediocre and we are the best team in the game. you kind of joined the conversation late.
  13. Somebody find Hendricks numbers following Jake vs. Not following Jake. Now. I think this is only his fourth start following Arrieta. He followed Lester for a while and before that was fifth in the rotation.
  14. no Care to elaborate why it wouldn't be? I guess you're assuming Soler continues his current splits- I was surprised by those. Schwarber so far hasn't hit lefties at all though.
  15. Would it be a good platoon? no Care to elaborate why it wouldn't be?
  16. Would an NL DH be better for the Cubs in terms of Schwarber or Soler? Would it be a good platoon?
  17. No, I am saying that losing 40 percent of your division lead in four games is meaningful. Really depends on what that division lead is. Again, 6.5 games up on August 15th is a GREAT position to be in. Absolutely! My response was to someone who posted that they didn't care about results at this point. I was simply saying that I still care about the results. I'm not at all worried but when you look at what could go wrong, getting swept by the second place team is near the top of the list (results wise).
  18. That was like identical launch angle and distance and exact same part of park. Possibly a slightly lower launch velo It landed further up the stairs, no?

  20. Well, it certainly correlates in my mind. High point of season, 27 games over, 12.5 up in division, then get swept. It's a reminder that things can turn around quickly as they did in that case. A four game sweep could cut the lead right back down to 6.5 and that would be worrisome. It's definitely a series with high potential consequences. lol... no it's not. Really? What a weak response. And disrespectful. I would have expected better from you.
  21. the amount of weak contact is phenomenal.
  22. Huh? No one said it was caused by the Cardinals. Then what else is pointing out it "started" with a sweep by the Cardinals supposed to mean? If you're pointing out that it simply coincided with that series, then hey, we agree, but then it's a redundant point to make in the first place. By making it sound like you're worried about the Cubs facing them again, you sure seem to be placing a ton of weight on that sweep having something to do with them struggling for a while after that.
