not dirty I don't think - just unfortunate. The Steelers DBs should be flagged for taunting. They are out of control. That to me is far worse sportsmanship than any touchdown celebration.

At what level Craig? Those are outstanding numbers and peripherals. If the Cubs don't want to treat him seriously they should trade him to the A's. Also, do you know offhand what the average BABIP is? I thought it was around .330.

because measuring strike outs for a pitcher is a good way to predict a pitchers success since it eliminates the luck involved in BABIP. Strikeouts matter for a hitter, but there are better ways to measure a hitters success than strikeouts. in other words, if a hitter has a .400 OBP and .600 SLP, you don't care if he strikes out a ton. If a hitter has a .300 OBP and .350 SLP, you might be concerned.

sensible yes, but not correct. many people with far more time than you or I have studied the impacts and found that increasing obp increases the value of a hitter more than any other statistic. a 50 point difference would make a substantial difference in runs created and wins for a team. Team obp is of course the major goal but what better place to begin improving team obp than with the leadoff hitter who's obp most significantly impacts the teams offense? -

Too much Salmon talk tonight.... Think the Cubs could have Salmon as the RH bat off the bench? :) Salmon was our old cat's favorite - player and meal. the salmon was delicious btw. I only support Portland if they learn how to pronounce Willamette.
