  1. the official that called it didn't have a good view. it would be appropriate for the patriots run to end on a crappy call - just like it started.
  2. Weren't the Ravens favored by at least a few points over the Giants? I don't know - I meant stylistically.
  3. the NFC is terrible. Today's real game starts now. Though I think the Bears or Panthers could have a Ravens type shot in the Super Bowl to pull the upset.
  4. maybe you should change your avatar - that definitely pisses me off every time I see it.
  5. A lot of it is luck - when you play a team, which of their pitchers you face, which of your pitchers they face. That being said, there could be advantages if their hitters don't do well against several of your pitchers. the great example is TB versus NYY last year.
  6. That's exactly what he said. Dusty said that Wood proved that he can pitch out of the Bullpen and if he HAD to work out of the bullpen, he could. It was a hypothetical, "what if" question. Baker never said Wood will come out of the pen. so this is another NSBB overreaction? Good to hear that though I will continue to expect the worst. Frankly, Poudre, I don't think it really matters. At this point, we know that Wood getting back to the starting rotation as soon as possible was jeopardized by his usage last season. Even if he manages to start opening day, it doesn't absolve these people from their failings with respect to his handling. Therefore, I don't view anything anyone has to say in criticism of these people on this topic as overreaction. Nevertheless, the impact on next season is huge.
  7. Rockies hitters are the opposite, however, striking out far more often on the road than at home.
  8. I think the characterization as a Little League park is inaccurate. The Rockies would be well-served to move in the fences especially in center. Houston is far worse as far as being a little league park in my opinion. I think you can prove if more contact is made or not pretty easily btw. What role the hitters changing their swing plays is incalculable. What is amazing looking at the splits is the difference between the rockies hitters at home and on the road - they go from top of the heap at home to the bottom on the road. When was the last year the Cubs didn't lead the NL in ks?
  9. Don't breaking balls break less sharply at high altitudes? I thought that was one of the reasons they wanted Wellemeyer in Col. becuase he was a fastball/ change up guy. *If* that's the case then it would have an effect on making contact. On the other hand, it seems like Sosa's problem is catching up to the inside fastball. breaking is caused by air resistance, which is directly related to the air density. Higher altitude=lower pressure=lower density=less friction=less break on pitches. Now a slow bat? Well, you'd think tampa bay would be the thing (the city is tampa, tampa bay is a body of water...) FWIW - Rockies pitchers have had more strikeouts at home than on the road each of the last three years. Houston is a better homerun park for right-handed hitters than Coors.
  10. I would like to see the W-L records of these teams - obviously the top two were the most dominant teams of the last couple decades and a quick glance suggests strong correlation with wins and differential. Not at all surprising.

  12. by the time he returns Dempster will have been exposed and the Cubs will need a closer.
  13. because its a football game? that, and because there is no roof. Oh, okay. I don't know why I thought they had one. Is Houston the only team that has one? Minnesota, Indy...that's just off the top of my head. Detriot... I think he means one that opens and closes. Yeah, I meant retractable. Did you know that St. Louis is the only dome team to ever win the Super Bowl? as usual st. louis is the scourge of life. football should never be played in a dome.
  14. because its a football game?
  15. but w/ no title to show for it. :D as long as we're talking draft date, i'd like to put in a request for it NOT to be from 3/17-3/23, as i'll be at ST. obviously, i'd do my best to make accommodations if it had to be during those dates. I'll be at the WBC in San Diego that weekend so you are safe.
  16. I fixed it for you navin.
  17. we used to allow pick up of players not yet in the database. when they get put in the database you need to pick up that player - the version you have is just a placeholder.
  18. Sign me up for the bolded part. I don't think Neifi can be traded without consent yet, but I approve of nearly any trade that sends him out of town. What trade involving Neifi WOULDNT you support? :?: neifi for macias? Or maybe neifi for christian guzman?
  19. the second one because he made you a man? :D
  20. personal attack! personal attack! oh that's right, I don't care!
  21. Yep. There's a bunch of minor league guys who will be there for the draft. Andy LaRoche, come on down. occasionally they are on top of things. we need to set a draft date.
  22. oh, I think I have the right to just drop him. how did that slip through? Did they update the database already based on the new 40 man rosters?
  23. love to have him back but wouldn't want to give up much or pay his contract.
  24. you can bet zambrano would.
