  1. Adam Dunn vs RHP: .273/.421/.580/1.001 Adam Dunn vs LHP: .197/.321/463/.784 Seems to be a lot of guys that have trouble against Lefties. I'd hang on to that farm system. the obvious difference being that dunn is still good against lefties. jones is worthless against lefties. Trading for Kearns would be asinine but platooning jones makes a lot of sense. I would give up a b prospect for kearns, nothing more. I would rather trade williams for westbrook than kearns.
  2. He had the surgery after the 2004 season, IIRC. And coming back the next season to log nearly 200 innings with an ERA hovering around 4 isn't exactly too shabby. The market value of that is a lot more than the million we're giving Miller. But if that isn't quite enough for you, Chris Carpenter had the same surgery after the 02 season. Then again, he spent the entirety of 2003 recovering before posting stellar years the last 2 times out. I think Morris had the same surgery as Wood after 2004 - not a torn labrum, just a cleanup. Carpenter is the exception not the rule. All I'm saying is I wouldn't count on Miller to be the same pitcher he was in 2002. Few have made it back from his problems and been effective. Believe me, I like the move and I am hoping.
  3. They have 3 losses, 2 on the road to top 10-15 teams, and the other on a neutral court to UConn. They're going to have to drop one before I'd think about dropping them. they seem to barely beat a lot of bad teams. tonight its USF. I don't see how they qualify unless morrison goes danny manning on the field.
  4. anyone else think Gonzaga isn't a top 10 team?
  5. yea, I said I liked the move. When did Morris have a torn labrum? I know he had TJS. In any case, his lack of effectiveness is not a great argument.
  6. I like the move but lets not be overly optimistic. guys coming off labrum injuries are generally not very effective.
  7. sounds like multiple leagues. I'm in for one.
  8. I'm not so sure. Ponson could be healthier since it's hard to miss time with pulled fat. I got $100 that says that pulled fat wins more games than Kerry Wood this year. Make it ERA+ and you might have a deal. Wins are a poor indicator of pitching performance. How about VORP since it takes in account the number of innings pitched? I say loser has to upload a high quality picture of himself in the oppositions hat. Oh and no defacing that hat either. You actually think Ponson will have a higher VORP than Wood. But how about a better bet. If Wood has a higher VORP you purchase me the Cubs hat of my choice, if Ponson has the higher VORP, I'll purchase you the Cards hat of your choice. Nah, what I really want you in my sig with a cards hat on. How about VORP with Millar and Poson? Millar?
  9. wow, I always forget that williamson could not suck. that would be outstanding for the cubs. that guy is filthy when right. oh, I like the miller signing too.
  10. Its not inaccurate. Its imperfect. Defensive stats create a picture of a players performance. Over a large period, they become more accurate. They are certainly more accurate than anecdotal accounts. Perhaps a scout's opinions would be more valid but most defensive reputations are established by people viewing highlights out of context - ie webgems. What intangibles do you mean? I think they can all be measured.
  11. bankone is owned by chase.
  12. perhaps you should leave james out of your argument since you don't really know what his opinion would be.
  13. yes, I remember that.
  14. who gave bradshaw the microphone
  15. I've dislocated an elbow...twice. Worst Pain Ever. I still to this day shudder every time i think about it. My best friend went over a year with a dislocated shoulder and he said it hurt every time he tried to throw a football. It actually led to me playing QB at our annual Thanksgiving Day football game. are you thinking of shoulder separation? that's different than dislocation.
  16. I could pitch over 200 innings. That doesn't mean the Cubs need me. If true, they could definitely use your services. :D No one is saying Weaver is an ace, or even a top of the rotation guy, but he is a decent pitcher who will make most of his starts (he's had 30 or more starts in 4 of his 7 seasons with two other seasons of 29 and 24 starts). Plus, he will pitch into the 7th inning, in most of his games, which is a bonus for resting the bullpen. A team should be able to sign him to a one year deal (with a club option for a second year) without spending too much. Sign him up, a solid innings eater who can help to strengthen staff and if all goes south by the All-Star break.....you have a decent arm to trade to a contender for some quality prospects. Hold on there buddy. I never said I was good. I just said I could throw over 200 innings. to throw 200 innings, you'd have to get 600 outs - you up to it?
  17. Is it in negative numbers yet? This is about the most ridiculously bad game ever played by a QB in the playoffs. Was he really at one time the greatest QB in postseason history rating-wise? 8.5 That'd be good if he were an earthquake. by his expressions on the sidelines, it appears to be someone else's fault.
  18. preaching to the choir aren't you?
  19. I don't think they've given up - they are just being physically destroyed.
  20. He's only involved because Carolina refuses to cover him. along with everyone else? ALthough they finally did get to Hasselback there. But with the ball on the 1 we will se what the panthers can do now nothing.
  21. Isn't the jury still out?
  22. no, its been pretty boring. Seattle has completely dominated. The two conference games have been very disappointing. Carolina looked so good the last two weeks and has completely disintegrated today. I'm glad - the Carolina players are very likable somehow.
  23. yeah, that had to be discouraging. I think all those east coasters better start respecting Seattle. They look awesome today.
  24. this is far from over. Carolina is very fortunate to only be down 13 - thats only two scores ND. They've been badly outplayed though.
  25. the tide is turning . . .
