  1. so you think risking 500,000 on a hitter with thomas's pedigree is a bad move because in 34 games last year he had a .315 obp? That's what you are saying, right? Or are you just trolling? I suspect the latter because the former has no logical basis.
  2. the offense should be in the neighborhood of 700 runs. the staff needs to hold opponents to the low 600s to be a very good team. the compete maybe 650 or so.
  3. I hope for the opposite - that dusty uses his relievers to best leverage their talents. why do you care if its a save situation or not? just win the game.
  4. if swisher is more consistent, they get crosby back and add bradley and thomas? That offense goes from average to very good. they really have only one zero, catcher.
  5. just like the old days! Quick, who won the big ten in 1989?
  6. in other news, WVU fresh off winning at UCLA loses at home to Marshall. yea, Marshall.
  7. yea, its hard to win on the road in the big ten.
  8. yea, I think they'll do that some. a lot will probably depend on how thomas feels. I don't think you lose much if anything from payton to swisher btw. The A's need a good outfield defense. If they can stay healthy, they have a great shot at the west this year. they need crosby and harden healthy though.
  9. I think he may be more apt to find the cast of Sideways in that league. :D
  10. they won't play payton ahead of swisher and johnson.
  11. I don't think so - not the way the contract was structured.
  12. umm, you're forgetting bonds is playing this year? He should win a gold glove.
  13. I think he'll play most everyday. I would expect 400-500 PAs if he stays healthy. He did hit 67 of his last 88 homeruns at home though. If he likes the line as rumors say, he can get it out there at the mausoleum.
  14. He could never get lefthanded hitter out. That wasn't his area. He was a relief pitcher that should be used against right handers. You should have told Baker that. Steve Stone did. And got fired for it. I miss Steve  I miss da Mercker. "I can't fight this feeling any longer, and yet I'm still afraid to let it show," Vance I hated that Mercker complained about what Chip said about Oswalt. Thats what made me hate him and freaking glad he's gone. I don't see the problem. I complained about Chip a lot too. I met Mercker in Houston and felt as if I were touched by the divine. He's a great guy. I think Stone was more at fault in those situations than Mercker. Stone's an arrogant SOB and most people know it. Stone's comments since leaving the Cubs are a wonderful indicator of how petty he is. "My future's so bright, I've gotta wear shades," Vance I gotta agree with vance on this one. mercker was just a normal guy without any of the ego I would have expected from a major league player.
  15. So who would you give up? I think Teixeira, Bay, Wright, Utley, Martinez, and Berkman, Sizemore are pretty much not available. Wells is probably overpriced - he never seems to be great though I would prefer him to Pierre. Abreu - would you give up Prior? Crawford I don't like. Jones seems to be peaking - I'm not sure if i would give up a ton for him though I would love to have him for a couple years. Reyes? ugh. Rollins is no better than Cedeno. Beltran is too expensive. blalock is overrated, floyd would be ok if healthy and better than jones, Burrell I would love, Young? manny has been discussed, crisp would be better than pierre, nixon ok as a 4th Of. Whew. So Giles and Lee. I would love to have Lee and I would definitely give up Pierre to get him. Maybe get lee and crisp? Giles I would like as well but is he available? what is burrell's career BA?

  17. Who would you suggest? And I ask that seriously.
  18. are they allowing a DH?
  19. fire the trainer!
  20. bellhorn was also winning a championship. that argument is tired and pointless. are you going to say jeter is better than ARod next? your point seems to be to argue no matter what anyone says, it almost appears you decided everyone's opinion before you started posting and have since not read anything anyone has written.
  21. Adam Dunn vs RHP: .273/.421/.580/1.001 Adam Dunn vs LHP: .197/.321/463/.784 Seems to be a lot of guys that have trouble against Lefties. I'd hang on to that farm system. the obvious difference being that dunn is still good against lefties. jones is worthless against lefties. Trading for Kearns would be asinine but platooning jones makes a lot of sense. I would give up a b prospect for kearns, nothing more. I would rather trade williams for westbrook than kearns. huh? dunn is almost as good against lefties as jones is against righties.
