    I say trade hill while his value is at its peak. Dont wait until he becomes Zito 07 or worse. Besides at best you're looking at Al Lieter here. Hill lacks quality secondary pitches, has controll problems, gives up the long ball in a small park, throws too many pitches, and lacks mental toughness. Bedard are you kidding? this guy regularly faces the thoughest line ups in the toughest division in baseball and has been very successful. Getting Brian Roberts for a few prospects as well makes this a no brainer.

    I also think that we need pitching. Dempster is a #5 at best, Marquis is also a #5 because he is so inconsistent but has the 'stuff' to be better. And Hill, while already enshrined by some on this board, I'm not so sure he is much more than a #3/4 at best. A curve ball pitcher who only has an 88-90 mph fast ball, along with a very mediocre change to compliment it; arent historically treated well by major league hitters. Add to that that his occasional control problems with runners on and his tendency to give up the long ball. I do think he will have a decent career a la Al Lieter but I'd still like to sell high in a trade while his value is at its peak. I'm not sure anyone agrees with me though.

    I was very surprised we went after another reliever but i;m more surprised Lubanski wasnt picked at all.

    I wouldnt mind Lubanski or Barton(Indians) with our choice. some talented outfield depth would be nice.

    While Hill may be more valuable for us now, if he goes to the american league east Hendry will look like a genius. He'll get batted around in that division.

    no to damon. His arm and juan pierres compete for worst in the league. plus he was injured or playing with injuries for the last two years his future health doesnt bode well.

    swisher is also a better defender than Dunn. And can play multiple positions well. On another note, Hudson seems to have become a much better offensive player than he was in the past. The D back even had him hitting third for a portion of last season. So who knows what kind of season we'll see from him next year. What we do know is that he is a great defender... could he play short?

    IMO what hamilton did in 90 games after not playing ball since 2002 is nothing short of amazing. Keep in mind, until opening day last year he only had 23 games above single A. If he can stay healthy, and that has been an issue throughout his career, he will only continue to get better.

    This was a great move by K Williams. Quentin had a rough year but is going to have a real nice career if he can stay healthy. I'm just wondering where Jim Hendry was while Quentin, Dukes, Milledge, and Delmon Young were being traded. Seems like he is putting all of his eggs in one basket with Fukudome. Unfortunately, there are a lot of other teams interested in him as well. I hope he knows what he is doing because those are some pretty nice players to miss out on.

    I meant too early in terms of dollars. He will still be relatively cheap and very productive for the next 3 years or so.

    I cant see Beane trading Haren unless he has some sort of unknown injury. Trading haren now just wouldnt be his style. He usually sells high but not too early.

    I guess it all depends on how interested Hendry is in this thing. I think an offer of Hill, Pie, Murton or Cedeno, and Hart easily trumps the yankees, red sox and mets offers. Especially since names like Jose Reyes, Philip Hughes, Joba Chaimberlin, Jacoby Elsbury, and Clay Buchholz are off the table. Some may say that is too much too give up but Santana could win 25 games in the nation league central. Is Hendry really that interested?

    I think this is definitely advantage twins. Young has the potential to be a premier power hitter and he is already pretty good for a guy who was 21 for most of last season. It is nice to see the rays get some pitching help though. Brendan harris will fit the twins mold well.

    throw Lubanski in centerfield or right. He'll be better than what we had last year. Supposedly he has dealt with a lot of injuries that have hampered his play the last couple years.

    isnt cameron suspended for the first 25 games of the year? I like hamilton, too bad our intentions werent to keep him after we drafted him in the rule 5. That was a very impressive showing for guy who hadn't played any ball in a couple of years. He'll just get better from here on out. Also I think we should look at Chris Lubanski in the Rule 5 from the royals. I cant believe they left him unprotected.

    Niemann is pretty good and supposedly his stuff was much better this year but he has spent alot of time on the Dl during his short career. So naturally, he'd be a perfect fit along wood, prior, guzman etc. He had an amazing season at rice on 03 though, curiously most of those guys havent panned out.

    Bonds vs Crawford 22 329 .492 821 vs 331 .450 781 23 368 .491 859 vs 331 .469 800 24 351 .426 777 vs 348 .482 830 They really arent that far off. Except bonds had a huge year at 25. Crawford just turned 25 and will be so until next august. And crawford is faster than bonds and has a better arm than he did.

    I really dont think hill is all that special. Hes not as good as zito was at his peak and hes not quite as bad zito now. Guys with a big hook and slow 90mph fast ball can have success but are never great. He barely has a third pitch and he doesnt have the best baseball instincts. Not to mention if he went to the american league he would get shelled. Crawford on the other hand has drawn comparisons to a young Barry Bonds. Is a gold golve caliber outfielder from any position, has speed,developing power and on base skills. ANd he'll be 25 for most of the next season. He will have a far greater impact than hill ever had on this team.

    Hill did well last year but he is certainly not great. I would trade him for a player of Carl Crawfords caliber any day. Plus Crawford is signed for a couple more years.

    You must be kidding me with that line up. Luis Gonzalez in right is a huge down grade defensively. He could barely play left field this year how is he going to play right for us next year? And even if we were to sign kendall, which we wont, it would be as a back up. Soto starts the season for sure. And what happened to DeRosa did he disappear? anyways this isnt a bad trade but being a realist I dont see much more beyond us signing Fukudome. Its nice to dream about multiple trades but they usually dont happen. If anything it might open up a trade for cedeno which wont net all that much in return.

    I would venture to say it is a problem for him if he cant stop. However, marijuana is much less dangerous than alcohol which is served on team planes and in the club house etc. I can, however, see the brewers having a problem with Jeffress gaining wieght from late night taco bell runs or him forgetting his glove at home.
