    I never understood the fascination with Hairston when we got him other than many absolutely hated Perez. That isn't a reason to want to play him over Perez. They both sucked and they both still suck. It's like choosing mono over chicken pox. I'm glad they're both gone. We never should've acquired either one in the first place. ^^ post of the year ^^

    He'll get that easy, but it won't be from the Cubs... Its too bad. Best money the Cubs could spend.

    I have no idea why people throw in the phrase "he isn't worth the money" when referring to Bary Zito. He had 1 off season(2004) other than 04 he has never had an ERA above 3.86. He has proven to be one of the most durable pitchers in baseball as well. IMO is easily deserving of b/t 12-16 mil a season. and he will get it.

    There needs to be an investigation of every coach/instructor for the Cubs orgainzation from the major league level down: aaa>aa>a>a rookie ball etc. what the hell is going on! Investigate the training staffs, analyze pitch counts. why do the Cubs have more pitching injuries than any other team in baseball. Sadly there is no one capbable of this. Hendry is too busy tearing apart the major league ball club, and all McFailure knows how to do is kiss corporate butts. In summary, the Cubs organiztion is pretty much screwed. So drink up...we'll need it.

    I just looked at his career OBP...364. He is definetly not Cub Material. I expect Hendry to pass.

    I think his injuries have been of the "bad luck" type. I don't view him as someone that is injury prone. just my opinion.

    Money still talks in this game. We would have to overpay. If the Muts offered 14/season the Cubs would have to offer 16-17/season. What other choice do the Cubs have at this point? Hendry has put the Cubs in this position. Now going into 2007 the Cubs have a gaping whole in that rotation. I would rather overpay with $$$$ than prospects(see the Juan Pierre trade)

    That will not happen. If you get in a bidding war with the Yanks you are going to lose... I think we would be in a bidding war with Mets for Zito. The Yankees appear locked in on Daisuke.. If the Yankees get both Daisuke and Zito...they need to just disband Major League Baseball.

    Prior should be counted on only as a 5th starter in 07...if that. This is what must be done Sign Zito (that Yankees will probably be to busy luring Daisuke so the Cubs main competition for Zito will be the Muts. Its time for Hendry and MacPhail and the Tribune to step up and nail a big name FA. I'm sick of losing out on the Beltran's and Tejada's) Sign one of these guys. Meche/Padilla/Eaton as a #3 starter. This is your rotation for 07 Zambrano Zito Meche/Padilla/Eaton Marshall Prior if(or should I say when Prior gets hurt..Marmol or Rich Hill can slide into the #5 role) If Hendry counts on Prior for the top end of the rotation he is a moron.

    I'm glad Wilken is running the drafts now. The have been really burned on some of these high school players. Luis Montanaz, wasn't he the 4th or 5th overall pick? I don't even wanna know who they passed on that year.
