  1. Were there other teams in the market for Glendon, or did Jim setup a one-man auction?
  2. Sweet. Now trade for Brett Myers and the Cubs could have "Beat your spouse" night. Fun for all.
  3. Dusty the manager of the A's....I got the perfect nickname... "The Plummer"
  4. I think Derrek Lee loves the hiring to be honest.(just my assumption) Does anyone remember when he was with Florida(one of their bad seasons) and he was very outspoken about the teams lack of focus and commitment to winning? I'll see if I can find the archive. Anyways, I think our 2 best players, Z, and Derrek, have a similiar mentallity and will get along well with Lou. my two cents.
  5. He has been living off 3 good moves. The trades for: Derrek Lee Aramis Ramirez Michael Barrett Damn shame the Nomar trade didn't work out, but at least we didn't give up anything valuable. I feel bad for him in regards to that deal. Nomar is just a bum, that is all. In addition to FA signings, Hendry needs to re-discover the magic and heist another team via trade. Hint: How can we get David DeJesus on the north side?
  6. Actually, I was one of those who wanted to see Rex replaced (in fact, if you look at the game thread, I was advocating bringing in Griese right before Hester returned the punt for a touchdown). I don't really see the harm in bringing Griese when it is was apparently very clear that Rex wasn't going to lead the Bears on a game winning touchdown drive. At the very worst (best?), Griese leads them on a game winning touchdown drive and it reignites a QB controversy. That can pretty much be squelched by Lovie announcing that Rex is his quarterback and acknowledging that he was just having one of those games that even the best quarterbacks have from time to time. I would not be too worried what it would do to Rex's psyche. If he couldn't handle it, he's not the right quarterback for the Bears anyway. My guess is that he would have handled it fine and I expect him to bounce back with a good game againt San Fran in two weeks. Well at least you were calling for Griese. Not that I agree, but sensible. There are still loonies out there that wanna see neckbeard in the game.
  7. I wanna know the Cubs scout who was assigned to Ricky Nolasco.
  8. The only safe bet is that disgruntled cubs fans will complain about whomever we sign as being an inadequate commitment to winning. :D If the Cubs sign Diasuke I will draft a full page letter on the Greatness of Jim Hendry and post it.
  9. The Cubs are more than likely gonna ink one of the big 3. Zito Diasuke Schmidt. Could a flyball pitcher like Zito get shelled in Wrigley? Schmidt is on the wrong side of 30 and has a lot of miles on that shoulder. Diasuke hasn't done anything in MLB yet.
  10. Speaking of Freddy Bynum, has Hendry let him go, yet? XXfingerscrossedXX If not I'm confident that 1st day of spring training Piniella kick him out and tell him to come back when he learns how to play baseball.
  11. They had a nice interview of Devin Hester on comcast tonight. Does someone have a video of that interview translated?
  12. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/states/california/northern_california/15789269.htm LOL...its too easy.
  13. I'd rather the Cubs take a shot at a high-risk high reward type player like Daisuke vs. overpaying for garbage(ie..Ted Lilly, Gil Meche) like they always do.
  14. Didn't realize Matsui played for the Cubs. Your name fits you well  Point being this, there were many wanting the Cubs to get involved in the bidding process with Matsui and were disappointed when the Cubs didn't. Turns out it was the right move. This guy looks great, if the Cubs somehow end up with him I hope he truly is. I think the Mets recovered fine from that mistake.
  15. Restovich and Moore combine for 38HR's in platoon/backup roles. Can I buy some mushrooms from this site? edit...I'm assuming the stats are based on them each playing 162 games.
  16. Didn't realize Matsui played for the Cubs.
  17. Insert prominant religious icon of your choice, couldn't fix Mark Prior.
  18. We pretty much knew this was gonna happen. If Todd Johnson can play the remaining games like he did Monday Night, I won't be too concerned.
  19. I don't know how many different threads this argument needs to span before it gets read, but this is a poor observation. Please go and study Sorianos career splits and then reconsider your opinion. His best numbers are continually demonstrated at leadoff, with mediocre to poor numbers in the 3 and 5 hole (respective to what you want out of those slots). The big-time flashy numbers that make Soriano attractive occur at leadoff, and it is easily his best lineup split for his career. Sometimes a spade is a spade - Washington figured that out. Where did he bad in 2002 and 2003? Granted his best numbers occured this season but was that due to him batting leadoff, or just improving as a ballplayer?(or sadly a contract season) I simply can't agree with putting that kind of RBI potential at leadoff. In 2002 and 2003 Soriano was a leadoff hitter. In 2004, he batted 3rd. In 2005, it was mostly 5th, and in 2006 he was back to leadoff. Soriano certainly seems like somebody who a team would want to put in another spot in the lineup, but it appears like he is more comfortable at leadoff. Wow..I did not know that(Johnny Carson) Certainly the argument could be made to bat him leadoff, although its frustrating he can't produce like that lower in the order

  21. If we sign Soriono I hope Piniella isn't dumb enough to bat him leadoff. Unless he enjoys flushing RBI's down the toilet.
  22. I think the Cubs should compile a list of the most injury prone pitchers avaiable on the market and attempt to sign everyone one. Why break tradition?
  23. When are we allowed to want to move on from depending on him? After 3 dissapointing seasons? 4? who said anything about whether or not we could depend on him? i wouldn't really depend on him, but it's not because i think he's a wuss/pansy/less than a man. The last thing I want to do is depend on a pitcher that has no stones! Instead of spending another off season playing video games, I'm hoping Prior actually takes it seriously enough to get his arse off from the couch and lift some weights. TESTIFY!
  24. I hope if this bum can remain healthy for more than 2 months and builds back up some of his trade value, Hendry sells ASAP.
  25. Who is Mark Prior?
