  1. Last I checked this is a Cub's fan forum, not a discussion board for internal Cubs managment.
  2. Dude, you offer no argument to defend Hendry other than "Just leave him alone". At least Cubswin makes a valid argument to deflect the Hendry criticism.
  3. See, I expect more from a major league GM. Anyone given the title of GM can make an honest run at a player. I want an agressive GM that goes out and gets these deals done.(see Dave Dombrowsi) I guess hindsight is 20/20. You spend an awful lot of energy ripping on Hendry for giving Mark DeRosa a 3/13 million contract to be a second baseman, so I can only imagine what would happen if he: a)gave an old catcher who draws about 10 walk a year a 4 year/40 million dollar contract b)proceeds to sign an outfielder with a chronic knee condition by outbidding the competition by about 4 years and 50 million dollars c)signs a 35 year-old injury-prone closer to a long term deal so he can throw 25 innings at 6 million a year. Is that the kind of agressiveness you want? I'll take a Dave Dombrowsi running my team any day over Hendry.
  4. Why? If people have gribes with Hendry's moves they have every right to voice thier displeasures.

  6. I have stated earlier my alternative to DeRosa's salary.
  7. where is the defense?
  8. ugg..This team isn't as good as I thought.
  9. Salaries being equal, I'd probably take DeRosa over Theriot. But again, I really think that 3+ mill could be better spent.
  10. This is the same guy that traded Ricky Nolasco for slappy.
  11. When have the Cubs ever been a top bidder for a player? I'd like to give Hendry the benefit of the doubt, but too often he is just a day late and dollar short. Do we know how much JH offered or if he is still waiting to meet with him? No. But I stated that it will be pathetic if we can't match 12/season. Which is true. If we can't match that it will be terrible.
  12. uhhhh...no. Why? Outside of his anomoly of a season last year in a hitters paradise, DeRosa was never really good. I know it was a small sample size, but Theriot was pretty damn good last year when he got a chance. Theriot also showed a great approach at the plate from what I saw, so I don't see him entering a Cedeno-like slump. You realize you are arguing against yourself. DeRosa had a good year, but yeah your realize Theroit had sort of a great part of a year. It's silly. You say you like Theroits approach. How many at bats did you watch Derosa bat this year? Just curious. Maybe once or twice I saw DeRosa. You do realizing that I am arguing that I want Theriot at 300K vs DeRosa at 4 million. Derosa over 162 games will not be heads and shoulders better than Theriot over 162 games.

  15. Well we could have gone 16M, but we just HAD to sign DeRosa. When a stud like that is on the marketplace in a position that you don't already have filled for league minimum, you jump on that ASAP. Exactly. Why not just ink Drew and take your chances with The Riot at 2nd in 2007? With Lee, Aram, Drew, Barrett in the middle of the order you could slide him in around 7 with little pressure and I'm sure he would bat at least 280-290 with an OBP above 350. Of course I wish The Riot had a better sample size in 2006, but we had a manager that wasn't smart enough to realize The Riot should get the majority of starts at 2nd, and of course we had a GM to shortsided to can this manager midseason and bring in someone would at least play the young guys.
  16. If we can't do better than 12/season for Drew, that is just pathetic.
  17. I thought the Yankees were working a deal for Miguel Cabrera. That would just not be fair.
  18. Let me repeat that: No, really...re-read it: Wow. I attempted to do this. And it works quite well. I try it too, and toasted my nipple.
  19. Glendon played for Roger Craig in San Fran? Wow...never knew that.
  20. That happened to me in little league  I hit a single to right field so I didn't run very hard to first and I got thrown out, that really sucked. At least it wasn't replayed a billion times on sportscenter though. Wasn't Casey thrown out from left though?
  21. This injury never stopped David Aardsma http://espn-ak.starwave.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7307.jpg
  22. Remember when he got thrown at at first from the outfield?
