  1. :D That made my morning. I owe, I owe, so it's off to work I go.
  2. Prior starting? Well that's what they have over at cubs.com so it must be true. :P Why don't I believe that?
  3. I envy those of you who have been able to go to games. Time, distance (1000+ miles), and personal finances are a few reasons why I cannot. Were it not for cable television, I doubt that I would have ever cared about the Cubs. But I do; I can't really explain why. Being able to go to games is only a dream for me. Just to have made the trip and to have seen the ivy, that would be enough. I guess I am sort of like Fred in that the experience is what I crave. Too bad some of you are so angry. If you really feel that way then the next time ticket day comes around just don't let them have any of your money. Instead take your wife/sweetheart out to dinner. Buy your kids something. Get a plasma screen and a new recliner. But I know what will happen. Wrigley will start calling to you. You'll be back.
  4. Well, I have said it before, it doesn't look good. At least the Cubs are consistent. :x And as Fred has stated before,"Oh ye of little faith." I guess so. But I have this Zambrano jersey, which I will get out and wear while watching. I also have this Cubs clock, and I'll turn on the neon. I'll wear my Cubs hat to work. I'll get stares and laughs. But I don't care about that, really. I enjoy Fred's stats, IPT and Derwoods sarcasm, also everyone's jokes. At least you guys still have a sense of humor. Sigh. Time to leave for work. Once more into the heat. Our local high was 104 yesterday.
  5. I "borrowed" that from another forum. Is that alright?
  6. Say, doesn't Clemens weigh twice what Maddux weighs? Maybe Fred can plot body mass against ERA for us. Oy vay ist mir !!   Well it might be an interesting statistic. I have no idea actually. I tend to think that fat Roger and fat Glendon might balance out the numbers. I was about to suggest using the body mass index of the GMs, but the doughnut guy Hendry makes that too easy.
  7. What beverages/medication does Dusty take before he makes out a lineup card?
  8. Say, doesn't Clemens weigh twice what Maddux weighs? Maybe Fred can plot body mass against ERA for us.
  9. Well, since the high in Houston is expected to be 100 or so, it doesn't look good does it? Or does this matter since they could close the roof? Or does anything matter about the Cubs? Oh wait, the game is at Wrigley. Never mind. It's time to start drinking anyway. :P
  10. I guess for me, it is tough to know the Red Sox won it in 2004 and White Sox in 2005. Makes me think even more 2003 was supposed to be The Year for the Cubs. :? To all this I would add the spending of a lot more money with nothing to show for it.
  11. There's been a lot of arguments, discussions, and just general disgust/resignation expressed about the Cubs, both here and in other forums. I'll admit I feel the same way as what many of you have expressed. I have also gotten the feeling that I, and perhaps all of us, have been down this road before. I offer this as an example of why I think I have been there before. I used to be a member/regular poster at that forum, and was just "checking in" this morning. That's how I found this resurrected thread. There's probably threads similar to that one hiding in the archives here. I haven't looked because I don't want to more discouraged; I am also lazy. This old thread suggested this question to me: If the 2003 season hadn't happened, would any of us really be so depressed about what has been happening this year?
  12. That catcher must actually be Barret in disguise. :P
  13. I can explain it. The latest SI just now was delivered. It has six of the Mets starters on the cover. It's the old SI curse.
  14. Since it's expected to be 100 degrees here, I won't mind wasting time indoors.
  15. But that logic is based on the assumption that people will watch the Fox game if they can't watch the game they want to. I don't know how true that is for most people, but it isn't for me. I'll actually boycott the Fox game if it's preventing me from watching a game I'd rather see. I also boycott the Saturday games. I don't think FOX realizes how many people may do that. The fact that FOX is clueless shouldn't be a surprise. Consider the cluelessness of some of their announcers.
  16. Well let's see. I am in a blackout area for the Astros and the Rangers both. Arlington is about 200 miles away, which, given high fuel costs means it's unlikely I would go there to view a game. Houston is about 260 miles away. The same problem applies. If Fox is carrying one game, why blackout the other on mlb.tv? What gets me is they do the blackouts even if Fox Sports Southwest isn't showing either game. It really is stupid. I may choose not to get mlb.tv next year. That's what Selig ought to be worried about, money. On the Saturday blackout thing, it may be due to the extortion levels rates for ads they can charge if there aren't any competing games.
  17. I am a twelve year survivor of that disease myself, and a 30+ year Cubs fan also. You'll beat that disease just as I did. :D You won't ever get over being a Cubs fan though.
  18. Well let's see, the World Cup has gone to penalty kicks, so I thought I would check......dad gummit! Landed in the wrong thread again.
  19. Just checking in from the World Cup; gone into overtime. Wait a minute.........I must be posting in the wrong thread. :P
  20. Did I just wake up on another planet?
  21. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ Shall we hope for three in a row? :P
  22. Actually they're all watching BLADE II on another channel.
