  1. oh and we get to look at these every broadcast with the "fan cam" http://www.survivinggrady.com/uploaded_images/damon4-779793.jpg
  2. or maybe Boston. W/ respect to Boston. The Twinkies want Ellsbury and not Crisp, but in the Crisp deal they get Lester, who they like. Why not deal a prospect to Boston that Minnesota likes for Crisp? W/ respect to New York. The Yankees seem to think Melky Cabrera is of high value, but is not. Why not flip prospect(s) that the Twins like for Johnny Damon who the Yankees can use to supplement the Santana offer. Either way our CF problem is solved, Pie be damned. We get left-handed and keep Murton in RF with Pie as a platoon if we don't acquire Fukudome. Seems like a smart idea. I guess that means Hendry cannot comprehend it. For the lovers who want Soriano out of the leadoff spot, Damon's the key
  3. shift jason marquis there. enter gallagher into the rotation
  4. sign Fukudome. acquire Teahen When Pie sucks (which is inevitable) shift Fukudome to CF and Teahen starts in RF. Win-win situation.
  5. He was the centerpiece for the Royals in the move
  6. Actually it may not. The Royals already have a logjam at 1B/3B/DH with Alex Gordon, Billy Butler and a few others. That's why Teahen moved to the outfield. Murton for Teahen are similar players. If anything a crappy prospect like Roquet would be thrown in. Murton alone is good enough for the deal.
  7. That sounds like a pretty good description, although he may be better defensively as I think he came up as a 3B and played a few games in CF last year as well as RF. Not that'll happen. Teahen's very mobile for his size. He might be mobile enough to play 2B non-Jeterian to the point where his bat more than makes up for his defensive miscues, in a Jeff Kent lite sort of way.
  8. Teahan has a higher ceiling. Not necessarily. One thing to remember is that Teahan was a Beane-supported acquisition a few years ago. So this a very un-Hendry-like move. It's almost too obvious to happen.
  9. That is pretty much what he is. Think of the move as giving Murton a chance to play.
  10. Meph Move Stamp of Approval would be in effect for this move, as long as we still are in on Fukudome. It is a solid move.
  11. so in the end, Jim Hendry traded an above average centerfielder and an above average left handed reliever for a middle relief prospect. somehow i think hes gone insane.
  12. He coached a terrible game against Iowa, but was pretty solid outside of that game. You maintain that the SEC is far and above a better conference than the rest. So if Zook can continue bringing in top 10-15 recruiting classes at Illinois, it should be an easier job for him to maintain a good program, right? I think they can easily be as consistant as Ohio State and Michigan in the next few years. I have never and will never say that the SEC is always the best BCS conference. It is right now. Will it be in 2009? 2010? Probably not. It's cyclical. In fact the SEC was the doormat of BCS conferences when Zook was at Florida. It wasn't a great conference.
  13. That agreement was probably made around 1998-2000, when they scheduled the 2003 game for a home and home season. 1990 10-2 (won Rose Bowl) 1991 12-0 (won Rose Bowl, split National Champtionship) 1992 9-3 (lost Rose Bowl) 1993 7-4 1994 7-4 1995 7-4-1 (tied for Pac Ten Championship) 1996 9-3 1997 8-4 1998 6-6 1999 7-5 2000 11-1 (won Rose Bowl) They were a good program for much of the 90s. In fact they spent at least one week ranked in every season. They were good up until Rick Neuheisel left. When Neuheisel decided to enter a "neighborhood" pool for March Madness, the UW program went down the tubes. This was after the games were scheduled, so it's hard to fault OSU on this.
  14. I don't understand how someone can say that Ohio State schedules for a road to a national championship. It's [expletive]. 1999 vs Miami (FL) vs UCLA 2000 at Arizona 2001 at UCLA 2002 vs Washington State (#10 at the time), vs Texas Tech 2003 vs NC State , vs Washington 2004 at NC State 2005 vs Texas 2006 at Texas 2007 at Washington 2008 at USC 2009 vs USC, at Washington State 2010 at Miami (FL) 2011 vs Miami (FL) 2012 at Cal 2013 vs Cal 2014 at Virginia Tech 2015 vs Virginia Tech Tressel came became head coach in 01, so most non conference games up to 04 were already picked and decided. As you can see, Tressel has always tried to schedule at least one non conference game against a powerhouse team -- one that's been powerful for a long enough time to also project them to be powerful down the road. Next time don't make up things. See guys I'm not anti-Big Ten.
  15. neither mizzou nor kansas deserved it but w/e
  16. to be fair, you have to look at oregon w/ dixon
  17. dear illinois fans ron zook is not going to build a power in champaign. they'll be a lot like Iowa Purdue and Wisconsin, top 25 for a couple years, mediocre for a couple years, and so on alternating every couple years or so. They won't be as consistent as the Buckeyes and Wolverines. Zook isnt a good coach
  18. perhaps the blowout is probable and the win for ASU was improbable -- perhaps not. If i had to breakdown the USC-IU game. rough numbers dont go crazy on em 50% chance USC wins by at least 2 touchdowns 25% chance USC wins by less than 2 touchdowns 25% chance Illinois wins.
  19. okay arizona state is capable of beating USC but they got blown out by USC
  20. usc blows out stanford almost every year, but we still saw that the tree was capable of beating usc
  21. As Im sure many pro athletes have. Dukes more than others.
