  1. Is it still ok to contribute to NSBB instead or would you rather me send the $ for Matt, Justin, and Myself. Since they are STILL living at my house, I'll send it in one envelope. Don
  2. It really doesn't bother you? Not only was Snyder fielding awful teams by the end of his tenure, but he's about 70 years old and hasn't coached in 4 years. Furthermore, how is he going to recruit any talent there knowing that he's just a placeholder coach? With all the JUCO's they have leaving after next year they might have a 30 man roster in 2010. He also lived and died by his assistants, most of whom are head coaches elsewhere now. I don't like the move. But with the state of disarray that the KSU AD is in, I'm not sure what they could have done. I think this ends badly for the WIldcats. We'll see. I guarantee that Snyder will bring in strong assistants. Dimmel, Long, and Bennett would be a hell of a start IMO. How could I be displeased with that? We'll see. Just gotta let it all play out.

Furthermore, how is he going to recruit any talent there knowing that he's just a placeholder coach? With all the JUCO's they have leaving after next year they might have a 30 man roster in 2010. I wish they'd have been more patient and let the Patterson thing play out, but I guess they felt that he was stringing them along. It doesn't bother me though because of the following reasons: 1. Snyder was tired in 2004 and was too nice of a guy to get rid of his incompetent staff. This led to his downfall. IE: Booby Elliott, Ron Hudson, Michael Smith. Thus, he retired instead of having to fire them all. He's also gained weight and energy since then. I think the amount of time he was putting into losing was killing him. 2. He's going to bring in a new staff with someone designated to be the "interim" head coach. I can't see how it's a bad thing that he'll be grooming someone to be a successor as opposed to the malarkey that went on last time with the hire of Prince. That's also not a bad thing for recruiting. 3. The staff he brings in this time will be new, fresh faces. I'm hearing Chuck Long, Phil Bennett (he was VERY successful as the DC last time he was here), Dana Dimmel, Eckler (NU), and Brooks Barta. Long, Bennett and Dimmel all have Texas ties and have been very successful recruiters in the past. 4. How the hell can I let it bother me. Our AD sucks, but I love the old man! I'm all for giving him another shot to turn this around. It can't be any worse than it was under prince.
  4. Welcome back old man!!!!! I wish it was patterson, but I can live with Snyder!
  5. Hopefully I can swing a proposed deal before I'm done until Feb. I've proposed 2 players that I just can't keep (one a big risk) for a top 40 prospect. We'll see.
  6. was he forced out? if so, lame. Why? He's Willinghamming that program. i'm pretty sure bill snyder willinghammed it before he retired. they went 9-13 in snyder's last two years, and 5 of those wins were over bad non-conference teams. being as the program was already sliding backward when snyder retired, is it reasonable to expect prince to have had them turned around in less than three years? As far as recruiting goes, Prince has been a disaster there. I'd need tadow to confirm this, but I believe he's pulled schollies from local kids more than once at the last second, instead offering them grayshirts after they'd essentially committed. He also over recruited JUCOs, bringing in 19 last year. Many didn't even make it to campus. The program is now thin on legit talent and is facing inevitable massive JUCO turnover. YES- THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY THE CASE! He's ruined MANY relationships with high schools that Snyder built. He's also allegedly impossible to work with. His assistants have jumped ship left and right. I believe there were even rumors he made his coaches run stairs after the team performed poorly. Finally, he's lost to KU all three times, and that doesn't fly in Manhattan. VERY TRUE AS WELL!
  7. was he forced out? if so, lame. Why? He's Willinghamming that program. Yeah, I'd like to hear Truffle's rationale for keeping him. Oh, and tadow, would you really be behind re-hiring Snyder? He kind of phoned it in at the end of his tenure, and he's what, 10000 years old? If he does it'll be to rebuild the staff.. not long term. We'll hire an OC such as Dimel or Venables and have them be the coach of the future like Bielma was at Wisconsin. That's the only way BS comes back in my opinion and from what I'm hearing. In that case, I dont think it puts us out at all.
  8. was he forced out? if so, lame. Why? He's Willinghamming that program. Yes he was forced out.. actually bought out of his contract. The initial reports of a resignation are incorrect. I'm listening to the presser now! All I can say is....THANK GOD! You are exactly right, he was Willinghamming us! I have a feeling based on what I'm hearing from my donor friends that you'll either see Snyder back or will see either Gary Patterson, Levitt, Bielema, Franchione (no thanks) or Dimmel (no thanks) as the new head coach.
  9. I'll clarify a bit.. the bar atmosphere in Manhattan is outstanding. I'll give you that there isn't much else to do there though, although there are some supurb restaurants as well.
  10. How is Ames not the worst? Because of Lubbock, Manhattan, and Stillwater. Actually I'd say there are only 3 good Big XII towns that I've been to: Norman, Austin, and Lawrence. I've never been to Boulder or Colombia, though. I'd put Lincoln, College Station, and Waco as decent towns, not great, but decent. Lubbock, Manhattan, Ames, and Stillwater are all not very fun. If Manhattan isn't fun, you've never been out in Aggieville. When I was in school it was the most bars in a 2 block radius in the nation, and that was only 9 years ago.
  11. Are you kidding me? Columbia is a dump!
  12. Just got home from the game with a growler of IPA to drink from the Detroit brewing company. I made my lady wear a bears t shirt today, and we caught plenty of grief, but had a WONDERFUL time! Great day! The Bears looked like contenders today, even if against the pathetic Lions!
  13. the peavy trade is not remotely close to this situation. come on. peavy was traded in like june. you're trading guys you can't/won't keep for draft picks. you're literally losing nothing. I was referring to the fact that people like Brian mentioned not being able to get ahold of fishbulb earlier this year when the Peavy trade was made, but Juan was able to. I didn't think it was a bad trade, but was in on the fact that he got Peavy for a draft pick even though others said they couldn't get a hold of him to make their offers....even though I'm not quite sure what the other people offered him. That I can't speak to. They could have been terrible offers that didn't even garner a reply and I wouldn't know that.

  15. What are you talking about? I never mentioned your trade. If the three of you want out, let me know. My apologies... I took it as being directed toward me.
  16. The only problem I see is that it's hard enough to get everyone to update their teams weekly, let alone those that can't join discussion. As for people like Matt, he's always stayed active, setting his team every week, but just has no interest in a message board. He does communicate in the weekly chat though.
  17. Where were the complaints when Tim had 4 first round picks?.....unbelievable.
  18. right. except matt has not made as many deals with everyone else as he has with you. MAKE HIM AN OFFER! I don't guess there's been any effort on your end. really? you don't see the difference between trading draft picks for howard and having him count against your cap this year vs. taking him with the first round pick you traded and not having his points count against your cap? You tell me how it's different. I traded him to a team that had around 1400 points in cap room and could take him on. It's happened for years where draft picks get traded in order to get under the point cap, and I don't know why it's such a big deal now. you're literally losing nothing and gaining two very good draft picks. in my mind, if i trade fielder for a 1st rounder, i should probably be adding an exempt SP or something. In your mind... not mine. If he had an exempt player he could have traded me that was worth Howard/Kazmir, I'd have done that + a draft pick as opposed to 2 draft picks. The thing is, his minor league guys SUCK BALLS. Read my earlier post in this thread where I mentioned wanting a Wieters type prospect and a draft pick. and i don't think you should be in this league if you don't post here. it's not like it's hard or something. Again... good luck enforcing that. We can't get guys to do their rosters every week, how the hell do you expect everyone to post here? Some people don't have the time to do it as much as others here do.
  19. I'm confused. I was emailed by Justin asking if I'd be interested. He has access to post here and I know he reads the board. He's been asking for Howard for weeks. If I'm not going to be keeping Howard (I'd keep one of him or Morneau) then why the hell not trade him? I couldn't keep Kazmir either if I'm going to keep Halladay, which I'm going to do. He was the one who asked, as he has NO bats and NO pitching and had a 2nd first round pick. He stated to ME that he would rather have those two guys than anyone he could get with those picks in the first two rounds. Why the hell would I have to have a minor leaguer (my minors are full) when I can add 2 draft picks instead. People have traded draft picks all year, and nothing has ever been said. Mention: The PEAVY trade earlier this year with Fishbulb, when nobody else could even get him to talk to us, Juan sure was able to. That was the SAME sort of thing as Justin emailing me to ask if I'd be willing since he has nothing but exempt players on his team and had a TON of points room to where he could afford 2 draft picks for those guys. How the hell is that exploiting??????? He feels his team is better now than with using those 2 picks on people. The peavy trade may have been the most exploiting a weak team trade all year.... Pot/Kettle!
  20. Who would want Felix or Lackey when Sheets is available? Okay, I'm done having fun with this. I told you all (out of fairness) that the person doesn't post here. I'm sure he'd by far prefer a deal for one of those two guys.
  21. If you're referring to me, I make deals with everyone in this league. Historically, I've made as many with you as I have with Matt. I've also made deals with Brian, Tim, Adam, Chuck, etc. I may just have an easier time getting ahold of someone like Matt since he's a friend of mine than others do since he doesn't post at NSBB.. That being said, I'd be fine with a "veto" type power, but only if majority veto's the trade and can support their reason for doing so with rational explanations. I don't think my Howard/Kazmir for first and second round draft pick trade is absurd. If you can get 2 players of that calibur in the first and second round, what would be wrong at the end of the season with trading them for the draft picks? The problem here is that only a select few people post on this board. Some sort of chat on the actual roadkill site may be more appealing to those that don't wish to visit NSBB to post messages.
  22. If anyone's interested in a top closer, I have Papelbon and KROD on the block.
  23. To be fair to both of you, You may wish to make trade offers through Roadkill as I don't believe that person posts on NSBB.
  24. I'm not disagreeing at all... but if I can get a prospect out of him, hell, or a draft pick, then I'll be happy. The person looking to add a SP has plenty of cap room, so others could offer him SP too and he'd probably accept over sheets. I was just quick to ask I guess.
  25. I don't necessairly disagree..... I may end up only getting a prospect for him. We'll see.
