  1. Wood got suspended for "inciting the fans to throw trash on the field" when he got in an umpires face. LaTiolet got suspended for going after an umpire and needing 5 coaches to restrain him. Alou was never suspended. And if I was Barrett, after Ken Williams' comments, I'd have appealed, and then dropped it when the Tigers series started.
  2. The White Sox and Cardinals winning too much for me to take.
  3. That's awesome!!! I have the video of that SNL cowbell skit and an mp3 of the song. Anyone who wants it PM me w/ an email address.
  4. They hate each other. I know. Mariotti is like 20 years younger than the Hawk. He'd clobber the Hawk in a fight, IMO.
  5. yet... I grew up in Skokie, thank you very much. I went to the city a lot when I was little. I still go, but not as often. And if I go in the city now, I just hop on the L. I'm 30 minutes by foot from a station.
  6. didn't the devil rays sweep the yankees last year, or something similar to that? I think the Royals did too. And the White Sox blew a 9-4 lead to them last year and a 6-0 lead to them in the opening week of the season.
  7. If Jay Mariotti and the Hawk got in a fight, who'd win. My money is on Mariotti.
  8. I was reading in Mariotti's wikipedia profile that he plans to sue Hawk for bumping him on purpose at a game. Good job, Mariotti!!
  9. cubs fans shouldn't be making fun of other teams that don't win championships. Well Bulls fans can so screw you.
  10. You're confusing Cubs fans' attitude with Sox fans. It's Sox fans who care more about seeing the other team fail than seeing their team succeed (or at least that's the stereotype many people on this board have). Cub fans, however, care about one thing: Ending a nearly century old drought and winning a World Series. That means Cub fans would be in favor of any trade that would bring the Cubs closer to the promised land. If that trade also benefits the other team, so be it. Cub fans would NOT be in favor of a trade that's less likely to help them reach the World Series just to stick it to the Sox.You are correct that Sox fans have this anti-Cubs mentality and come off as anti-Cubs first, pro-White Sox 2nd. They still have this attitude after winning the World Series. Therein lies the problem. They win the World Series and are still extremly anti-Cubs. Before they won the World Series, I would be somewhat okay with a deal helping them. Now, I'm not.
  11. I'm done arguing about this with you people. It is a LOT different in Chicago.
  12. Which can only be good for baseball. I grew tiresome of seeing their stadium half empty for their playoff games. Except in 2003 when they played the Cubs and we made it Wrigley Field South!!!
  13. Wouldn't work. Games spent on the DL don't count toward the suspension. He'd have to serve the 10 game suspension immediately after coming off the DL. That happened recently with Eric Gagne. We tried to do that in 2004 w/ Kerry Wood. We had him serve his suspension after his last start w/ soreness, and then backdate his DL trip to that day
  14. [sarcasm]Maybe he was going after him so Derrek Lee wouldn't get rammed into.[/sarcasm]
  15. This is off-topic, but impaler_240, I just downloaded an mp3 of the SNL cowbell skit. OM me w/ an email address if you want it.
  16. Great article!!!
  17. If you are talking about the white variety, yes.
  18. I'm game. So when Steve Kline suggest that Mark Prior get hit by one, it's wrong, and it's okay for two of us to say it. I'm becoming less and less proud to be a Cub fan with comments lke this. There's a 4-page thread on Ozzie Guillen, a manager with a World Series ring and a competitive team this year, and it's all negative. So many "real" Cub fans talk about how obsessed with the Cubs Sox fans are, and how they're fickle, and don't exist. Judging by this section of the board and half the people that are/were Cub "fans," many of us aren't too far from that either. I feel like making some of you feel like that Sox pitcher last night. Grow up. I find it real tough to criticize a manager who just brought a World Series to a town where our manager does nothing but underachieve and make excuses. Yes, it was wrong, but how many of you wouldn't trade Guillen for Baker? Prior has never pissed off anyone in the papers or on the field (hitting Bonds doesn't count). Buerhle is right up there with Bonds among players who are pricks. Someone who accuses Dempster of being on the juice, says Mad Dog uses spit, says the Rangers use a scoreboard to steal signs, someone who tries to kill Travis Hafner, it's pretty easy to wish for a line drive or a 100 mph fastball to his head. Have any of your 227 post not been about the Cards or the White Sox. You are so obsessed with those two teams. Let the hatred go and talk about the cubs some. First off, I talk about the Cubs plenty. Secondly, Jordan>Miller. Miller was the NBA equivilant to Mark Buerhle to me. A prick who played on a team who's guts I hate Wow, relax man. As a Bulls fan, I didn't like Reggie Miller at all when he played the Bulls, but I still believed he was a great player. I was lucky enough to go to his final game at the UC and during the player intros, I joined about 3/4's of the UC and cheered for him. I can understand why people didn't like Miller, but he was a great player and I admired his competitiveness when he played. I also never had nothing against the Pacers, even though they gave the Bulls their toughest challenge in 98. I was their biggest fan when they played the Lakers in the finals a few years later...then again I was also the 76ers and Nets biggest fans when they played LA. I have always hated Reggie Miller. I was rooting for the Lakers over the Pacers that year. Actually, I was rooting for the Lakers all 3 years, b/c of Phil Jackson. My dad and I were so happy when the Pacers were eliminated last year and Reggie Miller retired without ever winning a ring. I never said Miller sucks. I just said Jordan was better. Pacers fans brag about getting to see highlights of Miller's 3-pointers on Reggie Miller retirement night. I laugh at them and tell them I got to see highlights of 6 titles on Michael Jordan retirement night. I enjoy shoving this fact in Pacers fans faces: Rings Jordan won: 6 Rings Miller won: 0
  19. That fastball that him in the face. It was intentional.
  20. Only if we'd get better (or at least equal) value from another team as compared to what we'd get from the Sox.NO!! I would be willling to get a little less in return from another team as long as the players would make a good impact, than help out the White Sox and get some players who are only a little better. It's the principles.
  21. No, I think maybe it's you who are missing the point. We don't give a rats ass whether or not you get razzed by White Sox fans. It doesn't matter one iota and shouldn't matter one iota in whether or not the Cubs make a trade with the Sox. If the Cubs are looking to make a trade, even when unloading veteran players, if according to the scouts, the best deal is being offered from the White Sox then the Cubs should take it...even if they aren't fleecing them...even if the deal could make the White Sox a better team, because that's what you do when you make a trade. You make the best trade that you can for what circumstances your team is in. The thin-skinned, hot tempered, hot-headedness of your fans should never come into play. Anyone who thinks it should is the one who is taking stupid pills. Blueheart05 wrote this: That's my thought's excatly why any trade with the White Sox needs to cost them a little more. Howry and Eyre are the guys who wouldbe the final pieces they'd need for another run. Like he said, there are other teams we can trade them too.
  22. Did you guys take stupid pills this morning?
