  1. Well, we'll show Hendry. Especially for that purple monkey dishwasher remark.
  2. I've said it before, but his words mean nothing to me. It's all talk. Hendry, in my opinion, is as bad as Baker. Maybe worse. And it's not just because he allows Baker to sit the younger players. He brought up Hill to sit in the bullpen when he needed starts so Rusch could remain in the rotation (in an effort to convince him to re-sign, I'm guessing). He brought up Cedeno so he could sit on the bench and be, as Dusty put it, Neifi's "apprentice." Murton didn't get the starting job until what, mid-September? And what about all that talk about Dubois competing with Hollandsworth for the starting job in LF last season? That never happened. They signed Neifi to a two-year deal. They're not keeping him to be a backup, either. All it takes is a couple of weeks of Cedeno struggling and Neifi taking advantage and just like that Cedeno is out. Hendry and Baker have done plenty to kill my faith in them. Jim can say all he wants, but there's no reason for me to give him the benefit of the doubt anymore.
  3. A grammar, factual, and predictive error. The holy trinity of crappy writing. If Cedeno gets over 450 ABs, I think we can outproduce the ss numbers from last year which were 274/307/369. I have no problem whatsoever with that statement. That's a mighty big "if." I wouldn't imagine that Cedeno would get close to 450 ABs unless he plays second with Neifi getting the full-time job at short. And I wouldn't expect Neifi to repeat his bad numbers at the plate. Something closer to the even worse numbers that he posted over the previous few seasons.
  4. My favorite Rogers' quote from the past week:
  5. Pie hasn't seen any action for a while and is no longer on the "roster of the day." May not mean much, but it appears he might be done playing in the Dominican League.
  6. Never really in it, too. Frustrating.
  7. I sure hope this is accurate. As do I, but the Cubs often deny that they're in trade talks. They denied the Sosa trade pretty much up until it was official.
  8. And this why everyone says Cubs fans are yuppy, kool-aid drinking, bracelet-wearing pretty boys who don't know anything about baseball. And that's uncalled for.
  9. Well, along with alienating a large portion of Cubs fans, trading Prior would help push Wood towards waving his NTC. And then Zambrano would see the direction this team is headed and not stick around. That would really guarantee that Rusch would have a spot in the rotation for years to come.
  10. I can't recall Marshall pitching since July and he only spent minimal time at AA. Relying on either for 2006 would be a huge mistake. And I'm very said that this thing wasn't just a bad dream...
  11. Psht. You only wish that's where he learned his snowman building skillz.
  12. Harris, Brown, and Hillenmeyer are all expected to play. I believe Metcalf was also in practice.
  13. Bulls lose 108-100. I leave with them up by 7 in the third and come back with them down by double digits in the late fourth. :(
  14. I think they have. That "4" looks like urine. Nah. A little too green. That wouldn't make sense unless they moved their practices to Zion. Apparently Urlacher, Hillenmeyer and Brendon Ayanbadejo built it.
  15. Surprised the d-line hasn't gone after it yet: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2005-12/21080999.jpg
  16. I think that is a very interesting comment. I had thought the same thing. Clearly, Prior wasn't the same pitcher last season...starting the season on the DL with elbow soreness, and then being hit with a line drive on his elbow in mid season. It's a heck of a gamble for the Cubs to take though. Of course, they also don't exactly have a great history of accurately diagnosing injuries.
  17. Vaseline. Unless you're competing in a Little Miss Springfield beauty pageant. Then it's petroleum jelly.
  18. Guh? I sure would love to hear what Hendry thinks is a good trade that involves Prior.
  19. Would you make the same argument about a GM like Jim Bowden? Does the fact that every GM holds a GM position automatically make them well qualified and more baseball intelligent? And Bowden is just evidence that once you're inside the inner circle of MLB, you can stay there for a long, long time.
  20. Those big plays have gone down in the past few weeks and he's going up against the opponents' #1 WR every week. Yes, but I'm not sure that's enough to equal Vasher's. Tillman has probably done a better job against the run, though.
  21. Should've gone after that pitcher instead.
  22. It's been my impression that Tillman has given up more big plays, though.
