  1. It has nothing to do with Koronka. It's that we have six middle infielders on the active roster and something has to give. And it better not be Walker. It was Theriot if not Bynum so the overall 25 man roster mix does not change much. I don't believe there's any need to have another middle infielder in the system, including as backup for the big league team. And Theriot was only going to be on the team until they added another pitcher (most likely when Wood was going to be actived). There wouldn't be a need to carry Bynum, Neifi, and Hairston throughout the season. If nobody else gets moved, this doesn't make much sense to me. Bynum was added to the 40-man on Cubs.com. Does anyone remember Hairston being listed as an outfielder before? I would say it lets Theriot develop a bit at AAA instead of rotting at the end of the bench getting only a couple at bats a week. Plus, Bynum is a poor man's Chone Figgins, right! I'm not overly concerned about Theriot getting his ABs in during April I just don't know how they're going to use all of them. And if they're not going to carry Theriot right now, how about someone who could actually hit for some power off the bench? Bynum seems pretty redundant.
  2. Two straight fastballs over the heart of the plate. Did he throw his straight change in that inning at all? Nope, his two seamers and curve seemed to be the ones used. There's no radar gun, though, so it was a bit hard to tell on some pitches. Doesn't make much sense. Would've been useful on Castilla if the first pitch had rightfully been called a strike. I wonder how much they go over scouting reports in spring training at this stage.

  4. He's thrown what, two offspeed pitches the entire inning?
  5. That thing looked like a routine fly ball.
  6. The entire sequence of pitches was a little odd, it seemed.
  7. Couldn't tell where Barrett was setting up on that pitch.
  8. http://www.marshallfans.com/Pictures/Sean/Daytona05/656-347Sean051405.jpg = lanky Great breaking ball.
  9. Marshall is still lankier than this guy.
  10. I don't think that would've gotten over a 6'1'' pitcher. Just a bad bunt.
  11. I don't doubt it. He also just scared the you know what out of me when he mentioned "big news" and "Todd Walker" in the same sentence.
  12. Aside from Marshall, Dusty is going to send out an entire lineup of middle infielders. It'll be like t-ball when three kids hang around second base but nobody wants to go into right field.

  15. http://montreal.expos.mlb.com/images/2006/03/27/tTlqmWZH.jpg He was also fined. In effect, it's an 8-game suspension. Could be more if they appeal, the appeal gets rejected, and the suspension falls during a stretch of 9 games in 10 days.
  16. Apparently Williams will start on April 15th in the 5th spot, according to Cubs.com.
  17. Apparently Hill took a line drive off of his leg in the 6th inning but was fine.
  18. One investor isn't much to go on. Depends on how big and who that investor is. True, but even then it might not be that big of a deal. That investor obviously has an agenda and may very well be overstating how much pressure there is for the Tribune Co. to sell the Cubs to help create more pressure and attract potential buyers.
  19. A 10 day suspension is a great way for Tavarez to begin his time with the Red Sox.
  20. It's all based on this AP article, I believe: One investor isn't much to go on.
  21. Certainly not a good outing for Hill. He just hasn't been able to control the ball much this spring.
  22. So that means they're going to keep Zambrano on normal rest and pitch him Saturday? Can't say I'd mind seeing Z pitch. Yes, Zambrano goes Saturday as they keep him on normal rest. Thanks. I must say that I'm a little encouraged by moving Williams to the bullpen, especially since it might be a sign that they might not be too hesitant to swap Guzman for Rusch after Wood comes back. It also depends on what happens with Miller, of course, but I'm glad they're not afraid to make a move if they feel it's best for the team. We'll see whether the move actually works out, but it's a bit of a departure from the past.
