  1. He forgot how to throw the ball to the plate. But he sure had fun protecting the bullpen catchers.
  2. Wow. France making some bad mistakes in the last few minutes. And I must say that I love seeing the GK up there.
  3. Entertaining stoppage time.
  4. Very nice PK. Quick approach and just burried it in the corner.
  5. Shaka Hislop signed with FC Dallas.
  6. Randy Wells' night is done. He did a very nice job in relief of Guzman: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 8-4 GO-FO, 76-47
  7. Nice. A 3-run double for McGehee makes it 5-1 I-Cubs.
  8. And that is all for Angel (thanks to Dusty and Larry). Randy Wells in to pitch the 4th.
  9. Guzman so far: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 1-4 GO-FO, but 54 pitches Restovich homered earlier. Pie is 1-2 with an RBI and a double down the right field line. I-Cubs up 2-0.
  10. Wow. Italy advances with a 2-0 win. What a stunning finish.
  11. OT >>>> Regulation Amazing shot.
  12. Now that was a takedown by Lehmann.
  13. Mesa trails 9-5 in the 5th. Hernandez gave up 5 runs (1 earned) in 1.2 IP. Maradeo gave up 4 earned in relief.
  14. The whistle is barely audible at times.
  15. For those interested, ESPNC is running 16 straight hours of the best games of this year's World Cup this Saturday at 7 central.
  16. Another source:
  17. Wow, I wasn't expecting four years (or the signing at all).
  18. Corey is 2-4 tonight with a HR to right (#10), a single, and a stolen base.
  19. Pagan was picked up first of that trio and actually played well during spring training. The fact that there are about 8 25th men on the Cubs roster doesn't mean that Pagan can't be a useful 4/5 outfielder. Murton was losing his time to Bynum. Pagan's presence has little to do with Murton's fate. He'll get his time in the outfield. And between he, Nevin, and Bynum when he returns, Murton will see fewer ABs. I've seen conflicting reports on his overall defense (and have seen it in the field in his limited time), but he's not a better option that someone like Restovich, who has been tearing it up at AAA, especially against lefties. But he's also not a great base stealer, which is one of the things they seem to like about him, and also strikes out over twice as often as he walks while averaging over 100 Ks the past couple of seasons.
  20. Unbelievable. Yay. Dusty managed to officially take the victory for stupidest manager of the game.
  21. Yeah the stats definately point to a typical Hendry guy, but watching him play is different. Like I said before it doesn't mean he will be good as he probably won't because let's be realistic what young player is ever good for the Cubs, but I just like watching the way he plays. He's basically been only tools in his career. He's hasn't been much of a hitter, he's fast but doesn't steal bases well, and he should be hitting for more power than he has. Hendry also picked up other pretty similar players in Bynum and Miguel Negron (who spent five full years in the minors before reaching AA and has a career .680 OPS coming into this season) for the 40-man roster this year when there were already better players in the system. And he'll just be taking playing time from guys like Murton who actually have a sizeable upside.
  22. Pagan's career minor league numbers: .282/344/.373 with 15 HRs and a 71% SB rate. Last year at AAA: .271/.333/.395 with 8 HRs and a 64% SB rate. Typical Hendry favorite. Can't hit, isn't that good on the base paths, but boy is he fast.
  23. So you are saying that Dusty will head to Cali after the Houston series? No, Hendry is just out of deals with the devil. There's a limit. Dusty will just have to be retained based on the excuse that he didn't have his horses for the entire year. As a single game, this is relatively meaningless for Dusty's career.
  24. Pagan 13.33% of the way to his minor league career HR total. Somebody sure made a deal with the devil today. I think this was the last one for Hendry, though.
