  1. Ugh. Things didn't go well for Wells tonight: 3.2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 0 walks, 5 Ks
  2. I'm certainly pleased with Mark's velocity. It's getting better later in the game and continues to improve. His curve was rather meh today and his location sucked, but this is/was another encouraging outing.
  3. Theriot single, Pie walk (3-0, then 3-2 with a few fouls), and Lee grounds out to first on a 2-1 pitch advancing the runners.
  4. 24 pitches in the first for Wells. A 2-out RBI double made it 2-0.
  5. What's gotten into Bynum tonight? Stupidity.
  6. Certainly not the best of stuff or location from Prior, but his velocity continues its slow climb upward and his fastball is starting to look a little crisper.
  7. Hooray, indeed. I think I'll watch the bottom-half innings of this one until Prior leaves.
  8. That was a heck of a shot! EDIT: More like amazing.
  9. Nevin has no value to this team next season. Bynum has no value to this team any season. Murton needs to be playing in the majors. He should be starting in left this season and then platooning with Jones next season on the rare chance that Hendry can actually acquire a decent corner outfielder for LF. Oh, and does Dusty still get credit for breaking in Murton (otherwise known as not letting Murton play against righties for much of his time up in the majors) last year?
  10. Who knew activating a credit card would take 10 minutes and wouldn't be automated... I need to see a replay of that offsides.
  11. Own goal on Mexico. Ouch.
  12. It's a lot easier for them to be stubborn and say that pitchers are to blame for the walks instead of considering the idea that hitters should also get credit.
  13. Germany/Brazil matchup, please.
  14. Hoffpauir and Fontenot go back-to-back after the Restovich strikeout! Sweet. MiLB.com has video of Pie's RBI triple from the other day: mms://a1272.v10869e.c10869.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1272/10869/v0001/mlb.download.akamai.com/14668/2006/aaa/iow/video/062206_omaiow_b3_pie_2run_triple_350.wmv
  15. Was it off of a RH or LH pitcher? Seth Etherton, a righty.
  16. PIE! HR #7 to right-center on a 1-0 pitch. He had an outfield assist (8-6-5) the inning before.
  17. Hoffpauir with HR #7 to put Iowa up 1-0. He's had a bit of a rough June, but his OPS is still .832.
  18. Why didn't their offense use that last year, then?
  19. The Cubs remain dead last in the majors against lefties with a .228/.291/.362 line. Johan has given up exactly one run in each of his last four starts. This won't be pretty.
  20. Was he really that useful in the first place? More useful than Bynum. It would be hard to find major leaguers with career minor league numbers as bad as Bynum's and who are going to get as much starting time as him in the outfield, but Pagan comes darn close (.717 OPS vs. .710 OPS). They're equally sub-par on the basepaths careerwise, as well.
  21. Who cares, the confusion was entertaining.
  22. Must attend sensitivity training...is there any way we can get a video feed of that?
  23. Croatia really blew a great chance there. Just kick the ball.
