  1. Gah. I'm away from the game for 15 minutes and their 12 point lead gets cut to 4.
  2. Dusty was notorious for going by the numbers in small sample size cases. It's all about which numbers influence your decision.
  3. I've gotten tickets changed to will call before, so they can change shipping. And I'm pretty sure people have gotten their tickets combined before.
  4. It's March 13. Expect some short lines if you go the first day.
  5. That would actually be a show where I wouldn't mind some commentary from ESPN, assuming that Tommy Smythe was doing analysis. The first trophy English trophy of the season is at stake on Sunday, The Carling Cup. Its Arsenal and Chelsea and its not on American tv. aggravating. Well, there's plenty of time to analyze plays during the highlights, but they do a pretty thorough job running through the highlights of all 8 games in just an hour.
  6. Just watched the Champions League highlight show that aired on ESPN2 Friday afternoon. They do a good job with it (as in 99% of it is highlights).
  7. I was checking up on something with tickets.com and they told me that after this weekend, the Cubs box office gets together and starts going through the lists of all the tickets that were purchased. They didn't know how exactly the Cubs handle orders that they cancel, but it might not be a bad idea to keep checking by phone for high demand tickets right around March 13, which is when the tickets actually start getting printed. Or better yet, in person. I know when I've gone in the past to pickup tickets at will call the first day they're available, there are always at least some tickets to the White Sox series being sold.

  9. I love this intensity!
  10. WHAT A FREAKIN' JOKE!!!
  11. My younger brother got screwed by the registration on cubs.com he created. Every time he hit submit to finalize an order, it kept on giving him an error. I ended up getting him to log out on cubs.com and then try, which worked. He was able to get the games he was trying for except for the Friday White Sox game, which was sold out by the time he got back through for those.
  12. You need to do it from a blank browser and then paste the url into each one. I've got about 134 windows going. For now. I figured it out, thanks! If you have that many windows open, how do you know when you get in? Increase the task bar so you can cleary see the website header. Of course, 30 windows are on an old laptop and 44 are in two Firefox browsers.

  14. Sigh. Everyone's going to be able to open multiple windows easily this year. That bites.
  15. It works fine on Firefox, but you probably want to be using mostly IE windows since you can keep track of non-tab browser windows more easily on the taskbar. You can then have a few Firefox windows going with a bunch of tabs open in each. That eliminates the need to constantly be flipping through a bunch of windows. They haven't disabled the address bar or control+N in the pre-VWR page yet. If that doesn't change, that means there's going to be a lot more people with a ton of open windows running.
  16. Oh, it's also worth noting that once you're in through one window, any other windows that get through during that time are no good. You'll get a message that you already selected tickets or something to that effect. All you can do is just get that browser to go back into the VWR and not waste your time. At least that's how it was last year.
  17. It was a pretty decent match and if you have the time, it wouldn't be a waste to watch it anyway. Didn't really have the time, so I just watched the goals. Strange game for Barca and Liverpool. So many missed chances on both sides. My cable company (Comcast) just dropped ESPN Classic from our lineup today. I am not pleased about that...
  18. Looks like the url is http://frontline.purchasenow.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?trxstate=8&agency=M Of course, at least right now, they didn't even apply the java script to the link like they normally do (or did with spring training tickets).
  19. Bulls hang on!
  20. Thank you, Hughes.
  21. That's nice to hear. Hopefully that means the last spot isn't for Marquis right now (or Marquis' to lose).
  22. No wonder he didn't land the Cubs or Nationals gig.
  23. If you have a record of making deals and coming to agreement, it's much easier to find common ground and make a deal. In theory if you split the gap, but that's not really what happened here. It'll get done, in my opinion, but I don't really think this is the big step towards that. As a vet of labor-management relations, I disagree with your statement. Its a sign, no matter how small, that the sides would prefer to find middle ground and maintain good will rather than engaging in a feud. That's the essence of bargaining. The fact that they avoided arb. is a good sign. But arbitration has a risk to it that negotiating an extension doesn't have, especially with the two figures being so far apart. If Zambrano and his agent felt that they had a good shot at having their figure selected, they likely wouldn't have settled for this deal. And realistically, they had to realize that they didn't have a great shot at $15.5 million. When it comes to negotiating for an extension, though, Zambrano isn't going to have that disadvantage. No they wouldn't, b/c by settling they build good will with Hendry that can be cashed in when the truly important topic is broached: a long term deal. This is far more important than squabbiling over a couple of mill for one season. Its the forest through the trees. But you could also just as easily say that Zambrano settling on a figure below a million or so below the middle ground for this year just gives Hendry the impression that he'll cave on the extension.
  24. Just looking at the spring training tickets, I'm pretty sure it's the same for regular season tickets: -In the schedule, right-click on any home T icon and copy the shortcut/link location. It should look something like javascript:void(openTIXXWindow('http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?gameid=2007/03/15/seamlb-chnmlb-1&agency=MLBST', 'home')); Alternatively, you can also get this from the html source code on the schedule page. -Then all you do is delete the javascript to get the url of http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?gameid=2007/03/15/seamlb-chnmlb-1&agency=MLBST -You then just open up a ton of blank browser windows or tabs and paste the url into the address bar -The last step is to wait for the website header to change from Virtual Waiting Room to Chicago Cubs Schedule (or something along those lines). If you have a ton of windows open, just wait for the V to change to a C. That way, you won't have to bother actually checking each window. Obviously it isn't that link, but you have plenty of time to get it. The VWR opens at 9:30 and the tickets don't go on sale until 10. Of course, the url might be somewhere else come Friday morning, but it doesn't take too much work to find it. You can't right-click within the VWR since I believe they have that disabled. But you can still get it before you go in.
