  1. I'm planning on making another thread about it a week or so before. They won't be quite as hard to get as last year, so getting them online may be an option, but the best bet will once again be using the automated national Ticketmaster phone. Even though checkout takes 10 minutes or so, you can then go back in and still pull up tickets for a different game. It may take a minute or two of quickly retrying your requests (it takes about 5 seconds once you know what buttons to push without listening to the menu), but it has worked great for me the last few years.
  2. There's no HD feed yet for some reason, but the standard def. feed is working.
  3. An adorable one, too: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u310/nucubs/aram16.jpg
  4. You just couldn't keep that to yourself, could you? To my defense, I can't properly load the Peoria Chiefs website this morning for some reason.
  5. If true, it looks like Adam Katz did his job.
  6. They showed video during the game. Zambrano often looks "stiff" like that when he's warming up. He sort of shortarms the ball a bit. It's nothing new for him.
  7. Iowa: Randy Wells (6-3, 3.61) Tennessee: James Russell (3-2, 4.37 - 1-1, 2.30 at Daytona) Peoria: Hung-Wen Chen (2-4, 3.15) Boise: James Leverton (0-0, 3.00)
  8. You can't develop players in the low minors based on possible future big league club needs. You do the best you can to keep their value at its highest, whether that value is realized with your own team or in a trade. Moving him to first base or the corner outfield would really hurt his value.
  9. Glad Pie is playing. Hopefully he'll be back up to Iowa soon. I wasn't able to find the minor league roster rules. How long can Hill stay on Iowa's 7-day DL?
  10. I believe MLB changed that rule and Randy Johnson does get credit for a 20 strikeout performance. I heard Pat mention this during Wood's 20 K anniversary. Yeah, Johnson is credited with striking out 20 now.
  11. I don't believe Bonds ever withdrew from the MLBPA. What he did was decide not to sign their licensing agreement.
  12. Iowa: Jeff Samardzija (0-1, 4.50) Tennessee: Esmailin Caridad (1-0, 3.27 - 6-4, 4.41 at Daytona) Daytona: Grant Johnson (0-1, 7.50 - 1-1. 6.89 at Tennessee) Peoria: Dae-Eun Rhee (4-1, 1.22) Boise: Jose Pina (0-0, 2.25) Happy Rhee Day, everyone.
  13. Nice return for Hart. Heck, he only gave up one fly ball.
  14. Iowa: J.R. Mathes (5-3, 3.00) Iowa: Kevin Hart (1-1, 3.77) Tennesse: Alex Maestri (AA debut, 5-3, 3.69 at Daytona) Daytona: Marcos Mateo (1-1, 4.58) Peoria: Audy Santana (0-4, 3.72) Boise: Mark Pawelek (1-0, 7.20) Great to see Hart back.
  15. Certainly not ideal. It'll take Ascanio at least a few more outings to get back into a routine. 12 days is a long time off, most of which were due to travel difficulties out of Venezuela.
  16. They better hope there's a lot of development on the southern part of it, because most of it will pass to the north. Well then...don't I look dumb No, they'll probably get some rain down there, but it may not be much.
  17. They better hope there's a lot of development on the southern part of it, because most of it will pass to the north.
  18. Well, hey. Better than a walk. Great AB by Ward.
  19. Color me surprised. I went through his numbers, breaking them up by "streaks." I didn't realize he was hitting quite so many balls on the ground in April. Dates FB% GB% LD% BA OBP SLG BABIP 24-Jun to 27-Jun 0.214 0.643 0.143 0.133 0.188 0.133 0.143 08-Jun to 22-Jun 0.333 0.333 0.333 0.354 0.458 0.563 0.417 04-May to 07-Jun 0.364 0.491 0.145 0.221 0.241 0.382 0.240 31-Mar to 03-May 0.315 0.481 0.204 0.352 0.433 0.639 0.354 Check out that slugging percentage compared to his GB% in April.
  20. It's a factor of his terrible slump. His ground ball rates are improving over the last month: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/525_1B_daily_full_9_20080626.png And his BABIP is just starting to catch up: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/525_1B_daily_full_7_20080626.png I can't say I'm worried about it.
  21. He was converted to catcher. that would explain why he played third base today. He's not the full-time catcher, at they get moved around down there. It looks like he last caught on Sunday and Monday, batted DH, and is now playing 3B today.
  22. He was converted to catcher.
  23. Tyrus Thomas and Thabo Sefolosha...why should Pax get the benefit of the doubt? It's only June 27th. Most of it is general post-draft, we don't want to throw everything on the young kid's shoulders talk. It may happen, but that'd be well down the road. There's a lot that will happen between now and then.
  24. After ESPN went on about how the Bulls are definitely trading one of their guards, why shouldn't Paxson say something to make them seem a little less desperate?
