  1. good. i would much rather have 4 years of drew than 5-6 of soriano. I dont see why everyone thinks we can only have one or the other. With a $115 Million payroll, there is no reason we cant have both. We can, but that would leave us only about 5 million for pitching to try to fill 2 spots. If we got both Soriano and Drew, and added them into the lineup with guys like Ramirez and Lee, we could live with having a rotation of Z, Prior, Miller, Marshall, Marmol/whatever other minor leaguer you want. No, no we couldn't.
  2. This is the same guy that traded Ricky Nolasco for slappy. This is the same guy that traded Choi for Lee. This is the same guy that traded ... whoever for Ramirez. Salaries being equal, I'd probably take DeRosa over Theriot. But again, I really think that 3+ mill could be better spent. How? 3 mill doesn't get much in this market.
  3. uhhhh...no. Why? Outside of his anomoly of a season last year in a hitters paradise, DeRosa was never really good. I know it was a small sample size, but Theriot was pretty damn good last year when he got a chance. Theriot also showed a great approach at the plate from what I saw, so I don't see him entering a Cedeno-like slump. Fact is that if Theriot was really all that good of a player, would Jim have felt the need to get DeRosa? Probably not. Theriot isn't likely to hit 100+ points above his average minor league slugging again. DeRosa has been pretty good since changing his swing , has done it for a full season, and can play pretty much anywere on the field. He does more for the team then Theriot. Theriot will still get his chances anyway, unless he is horrible in the spring.
  4. Unfortunately, he is a much worse bet to be worth his salary. Why does it matter? The Cubs aren't some small market team. 3 million dollars isn't hurting our payroll much.
  5. Well we could have gone 16M, but we just HAD to sign DeRosa. When a stud like that is on the marketplace in a position that you don't already have filled for league minimum, you jump on that ASAP. 1. We are paying DeRosa 3 mill this year. Do you honestly think that is the diffrence between signing and not signing Drew? With a payroll this large, no. 2. DeRosa is a much better bet to be good then Theriot.
  6. So signing a player for 4.2 Million prevents us from getting Zito/Soriano or whoever? Jeez you guys sure can spin anything against Hendry. Look at the market people. You don't get players with the ability to put up a line of .296 .357 .456 over 520 at bats that is capable of playing almost any position for 1 Million dollars. He's only done it once, but how many times does he need to do it to be legit? Give him a chance.
  7. We finally sign a platoon partner for Jones who can also help out in other places, and people are mad?
  8. Sorry, I forgot you would be an absolutely perfect NFL ref, and make even the toughest calls every time. My bad.
  9. How? Tillman was down on the fumble. The phantom Horsecollar on Briggs. Flagging the Bears for taunting, but allowing the midgets to pull the basketball crap all night long. I could go on.... Tillman call was way too close to hold the refs against. The phantom horsecollar = phantom roughing the passer where Robbins hit Grossman on the head, but barely hit him. The Giants got flagged for taunting too ... for a stupid under the shirt taunt. Pretty even, but spin it whatever way you want I guess. The Giants got smacked.
  10. Burress is one player ... He plays for the Giants, no? Face it, he was trash talking and just got punked. He ran his mouth without knowing the first thing about Tillman, and Till beat him. He should have studied the Bears/Vikings game tapes when Till was covering Moss. Unless you've got elite speed, Till can cover you. Not too many 6'2" corners out there. Burress was doing fine on Tillman, but its not like he can catch passes when Manning is getting rushed heavily/throwing 100 feet above his head. It's funny how a little trash talk gets blown up so much when you lose ... and it's not like Burress didn't play well. it's not like he played great. he caught a few balls, but never got deep and never broke off a big yac. Fair enough. It's not like Manning would have been able to put the ball where it needed to be anyway. Manning or Grossman...if you had your choice... Probably Manning , I haven't seen enough of Grossman. Manning has shown flashes, if he can fix his mechanics.
  11. Wow, no they didn't. The Giants did not disrespect the damn Bears! What are you basing this on, one players trash talk? Grossman in this game >>>>> Eli in this game, sure.

  13. Burress is one player ... Jacobs was running his mouth too. He has two touchdowns ... the loss is his fault? :?

  15. Madden really wanted that cookie ...

  17. Feagles = best player on team.
  18. I love how they show Feely sulking on the sideline. Man up and make a kick, you girl.
  19. Meh ... Manning really can't take any sort of rush. Every throw seems to be high. The Bears D is great for sure, but alot of this is on Manning/line as well. Enjoy this one fellas.
  20. Bad call to kick it, Feely is known for missing kicks that matter. Awsome play by Hester. And Disgruntled or whatever, not cool.
  21. This defense is giving like crazy. Webster, as usual, is less then spectacular.
