  1. OH. EM. GEE. ](*,) That seems to have some Dusty influence. The idea of not being able to win with young players and believing you need guys who have been around the league.
  2. Hendry already said he is moving to 2b. He's not going to Iowa.
  3. And they hung on to Burnitz. I thought he would be on the move.
  4. The guy can't even get an at bat. You would think the Cubs were fielding all stars.
  5. No,it's not really a salary dump. They just have a lot of minor league talent and with the signing of Furcal and trade to get Lugo they have no need for him. Plus, he did have TJ surgery. So money wasn't their major reason.
  6. I think Cedeno is liked by the Cubs as a 2b. My guess is Lugo will get comfortable in LA and re sign with the Dodgers. Dodgers next year: 1b - Loney 2b - Lugo ss- Furcal 3b - LaRoche C - Martin utility = Betemit That could be very scary for opposing teams in a couple of years.
  7. I happen to fully agree with Stone(I know, I blast him a lot), but you got a true SS, a switch hitter who doesn't strike out and a glod glove fielder vs 2 more months of Maddux. I could deal with it if I knew Neifi wasn't coming back next year. But, he'll be back.
  8. That's because Stone said we should have traded Ramirez for Izturis. Yeah, Stone wanted to trade for him in early July, and he thinks Izturis/Cedeno would be our middle infield for "the next five years". Blech!!!!
  9. Steve Stone on the Score670 believes this is a good move. He believes it's good to get Izturis a good glove who is locked up contract wise. Also, he says it is better than if the Cubs would have signed Furcal at the money the Cubs offered in the off season.
  10. Sept. 12,13 and 14 Dodgers at Cubs I hope Maddux pitches and shutsout the Cubs.
  11. Cesar Izturis is going to have a very rough going in Chicago. Today, he may be the second most hated man in Chicago after Hendry. Not his fault...but just the way things go.
  12. Noooooo, the Las Vegas 51's are much better than the Cubs.
  13. if the choice was to 1) trade Maddux for Izturis, give the Dodgers $2M, take on the remainder of Izzy's contract 2) Keep Maddux until the end of the year 3) Trade Maddux for a mid-level prospect, pay them some cash and be done with it I'll choose #3, then I'd fall back on #2. I agree. Good God.....Izturis until 2007 possibly 2008.
  14. Wow, the Cubs get a MI who has had TJ surgery. The Cubs love for arm injuries goes beyond pitchers, I guess. Heck, Pierre essentially is an arm injury with his noodle arm.
  15. This is a mess. But FWIW, anyone in the Chicago area can see Hendry's live press conference on CSN. It is slated for 4pm and they are just awaiting his arrival. Currently they have the Chicago Bandits on while they wailt for the press conference. They're better than the Cubs.
  16. Fingers crossed for Cezar Izturis... or Jose Cruz Jr.
  17. You know he's talking about Eric, right? Yes, my point is that it would be a big jump and they'll screw Eric up just like Corey if they bring him up.
  18. The Padres valued this pitcher somewhat because Walker alone could not get it done. The Cubs had to give cash also.
  19. He'll probably sharing 3b with Bellhorn unless the Padres get another 3b. Also, the occasional start at 2b for Barfield, I'm assuming.
  20. For those that wil miss Walker, the bright side is that there is a possibility you can see him in the playoffs.
  21. That sounds positive. Of course it depends who is saying it.
  22. See Ya, Todd I'll leave you with a good memory....... http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j163/Niner74/ToddWalkerJenniferAniston.jpg
  23. Yep. A ball never has been, never will be pitcher. Hendry does like his pitchers. If it is a pitcher, the Cubs could assemble the entire Ft. Wayne pitching staff pretty soon.
  24. Kottaras is considered their number two prospect. Carrillo is still considered number one even with the forearm problem he had. Kottaras is playing hurt in Portland. That is when he plays. He has been on the bench quite a lot due to a strained neck.
