  1. Why did the Pirates trade Kendall to the A's and in particular why did they take on so much of his salary for so many years?
  2. Because everyone in the media is dumb. Kendall has 292 ABs this year and is OPSing .542. His on-base is lower than Jacque Jones's. Did I mention he's on a $13M deal this year? Don't the Pirates pay most of that? Soccer already pointed out that the Cubs are on the hook for approximately $3.5 of his contract, and that's before considering however much cash the A's will be sending with him. I caught it. It was posted while I was typing. Thanks.

  4. Hendry in the booth with Len and Bob telling all about it.
  5. They're young guys have to improve over their first half. they have too much talent.
  6. Kid's got serious heat.... Just hoping he'll start walking some guys. He's my favorite young pitcher in baseball. THAT is how you use mechanics to get everything you can out of your body! Kid's going to be absolutely nasty once he figures things out. He and Cain will make quite the 1-2 punch come 2009. They have the potential to be very good down the road. If it is true that they're going to ditch the retirement home mentality and focus on youth, then I think they're headed in the right direction. A rotation of.......... Lincecum Cain Zito Lowry and ? is definitely a positive for them.
  7. If you ever get a chance to wastch the games called by Kuiper and Krukow, you would think he was the greatest ss of all time.....even at his age today. Absolutely horrible broadcasters. Kuiper isn't bad and Krukow sounds like he's drunk all the time. They aren't great by any means but they're not that bad and usually pretty funny. I don't like Kuiper, but he is better than Krukow. That being said I usually will switch games if there is another game on because I really don;t like listening to them. Unfortunately, many times the other game is Seattle and listening that broadcast even more taxing on my ears.

  9. Well 1 worthless bat gone. Jesus that Barret trade was horrible! Pretty much a DFA. At least Hendry can admit he's wrong. Hopefully Kyler Burke turns into something useful. He has what? one hit since he joined our system? He's actually been pretty hot as of late. Isn't he like 10 for his last 20 at bats or something near that number/
  10. Bowen just bought a place in Chicago. He should have held out on that a little longer.
  11. Which Lincecum will show up today? Then again I guess that same question can apply to Rich Hill.
  12. He should be DFA'd for that.
  13. Yep. That was the game where Z broke the bat over his knee.
  14. Okay, so I'm just looking at some minor league stats and stumbled across Aaron Cunningham. I had no idea the White Sox traded him last month. It seems to me this is a mistake on the part of the Sox. They had a young kid who people are speaking highly of from what I read. Pure swing, strong arm, big upside and such. So, they trade him to the D'Backs for Danny Richar a streaky hitting second baseman who is prone to errors. Both have good numbers and Richar is closer to major league ready, but it still doesn't make sense to me. The Sox will probably unload players. Iguchi may be one who is unloaded and they can fill that gap with Richar, but do they really have a great situation in terms of outfielders. Dye may be gone by the deadline and Podsednik's time is up there and I don't think Bryan Anderson will be back atleast not in the near future. They have Sweeney and Owens up. It just seems to me that Cunningham in a two of three years would be worth the wait. I'd love to hear from those who follow the minors closely and your take on this.
  15. Not nearly as embarrassing as it is for baseball to have him as its star player. It's not like he's blaming the team or the game. He's blaming himself for a good reason. Lately he's been pretty bad with runners on. I wish Cesar Izturis said that on our team! There was no implication in the post.
  16. Bonds wasn't very happy after today's game/series with the Dodgers. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AnRxF_fD44r15adIYQdIZJo5nYcB?slug=sh-bonds071507&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
  17. What about Julio Franco? A quick pick up who has hit lefties well in his career. He would only have to play first base against lefties during Lee's suspension. Then he remains on the bench as a ph. If it doesn;t work out then it doesn't hurt to cut ties. He's old but as a ph off the bench for cheap...it may work. Unless of course there is some deal out there that can be made and in particular made by Hendry.
  18. He will conveniently be suspended while in the midst of his home run tear that he began today. Thus, reverting him back to warning track power when returns from the suspension.
  19. *points to sig* Proven!
  20. I disagree, his K/9 and BB/9 are both very good and he's been the victim of some bad luck (.350 BABIP). Moreover, the Texas League is a hitter's haven. They play in some bandboxes out there, so his 1.28 HR/9 probably isn't as bad as it looks. Which website provides this stat? I checked Baseball America and didn't see it and I'm guessing milb.com won't give it.
