  1. there is a ray of Hope its May 4 Derrek Lee will be coming back Wood is set to come back werent the astros 15 games under 500 at the end of may last year? we know where they went. hell they were 6 games under at the end of June Can people please stop citing the Astros? We don't have a rotation of Clemens-Petitte-Oswalt even if Prior and Wood come back healthy. Those 3 were pitching out of their minds the second half of last year. If we go 15 under .500 at any point in the season we are screwed. I guarantee it. Ill compare all i want. The astros had no sort of offense last year, the teams are similar
  2. That's certainly possible, and he could very well have flamed out because of it. In the Cubs defense, I can't think of any top end pitchers that were abused in one year and had it cost them their career in the last ten years, and nearly all top pitchers are abused at some point if not all the time. I would have thought that month off would have given him time to recover. Name me one 21, 22, 23 year old pitcher that was abused like Prior and didn't suffer any consequences. they do, just look at Sandy Kofax (sp) used way to much and destoryed his arm.
  3. The cubs dont make the 2003 playoffs without what Prior did, we just barely made it in as was i wouldnt call a team that made it to the NLCS mediocre either
  4. well we should be decent if everyoen can stay healthy and Lee, Prior and Wood come back and are productive the marlins will be in contention before we will because my previous statement is nothing but a dream

  6. very good article, too bad people will ignore it completely because they dont see anything from good contact
  7. 27-35-41, the way he is hitting, id love to see him in a cub uniform
  8. even if Aram got hot, it would be a matter of innings before they pitched around him making him a non factor with this team, having men on base isint that threatening to other teams
  9. aardsma wasant ready for the big leagues, Guzman has the stuff, he just needs rothschild to convince him to use it BTW if first impressions were everything, Ryne Sandberg would not be in the HOF after his 1-32 start
  10. Right. That's why many here complain about Jones, Pierre, and Perez. They're mediocre players. They'll probably do better than they're doing right now, but they'll still be mediocre players who are getting paid a lot of money. Jones, Pierre, Perez, and Rusch make more than $15 million combined. That's more than the entire Florida roster. It's enough to pick up a top tier free agent. Okay, so we blame Ramirez for his slow start. So what? Do you think he's playing poorly on purpose? He started slow last year and ended up with a great season. It's fair to blame Ramirez for his struggles, but it's not fair to blame him for the team's struggles. Cubs management, ownership, and coaching gets credit for that. Its not like the top of the order is getting in scoring position anyways. 39% of his plate appearances this year have been with runners in scoring position 51% of his plate appearances this year have been with runners on. it is fair to blame Aramis in part for some of the Cubs failure. the people in front of him are doing their jobs for the most part. he is failing. find me a successful team with the cleanup hitter doing as poorly, and you found yourself a team with really good pitching. as with all things, whats the number since DLee left. im guessing its a much smaller number since DLee was hitting over 300 and infront
  11. i wouldnt go that far, he produced better than anyone since in 2003 He was a $10m corner OF in 2003, and he did not produce like a $10m corner OF. He has produced much much more offense than any left fielder since, did you forget the joke that was Todd hollansworth, Jason Dubois among others? i wouldve glady taken his 2005 .321 average, .400 OBP, 19HR and 63 RBIS in 123 games over what we had
  12. 5-7, I believe. Yeah, 5-7 is correct. Does that include the game he was injured in? They came back and won after he got hurt. losses 2 against st lous 2 against milwaukee 1 each against Pittsburgh and Florida 1 against dback
  13. i wouldnt go that far, he produced better than anyone since in 2003
  14. The cubs do stupid stuff like this, its really not hard to believe at all. i mean afterall they told Maddux they dont want to spend the money on him back in the early 90s
  15. subtract baker, rothschild and clines, add new manager and hitting coach, and kill self for not getting leo mazzone durning off season
  16. And yet we are still 14-12. Hang in there! If we can just ride this out and get healthy we'll be alright. what are we since Lee got injured, 4-6? 5-7, I believe. ya my brain metally blocked last nights game to save itself any damage
  17. Its not like the top of the order is getting in scoring position anyways.
  18. Pierre is more of a problem than ARAM, lets face it he has a OBP similar to that of another guy name Corey with a similar average. We are paying pierre way to much money to not hit the ball out of the infield
  19. in the past week he is hitting .275, still below normal but he is improving
  20. I'm just glad big Al is helping out my fantasy team with all those homeruns and rbi's! Keep it up Big Al! My fantasy team needs you! If only he could pitch, because my fantasy team needs pitchers! He's clearly no Ruth. no one is, but pujols is going to be up there with him at the pace he is going
  21. Seconded. I'll be watching the Lakers-Suns Game 6. I'd rather watch a Devil Rays Vs. Royals game before I watch a Pro-Basketball game. same here, basketball died when Jordan left
  22. And yet we are still 14-12. Hang in there! If we can just ride this out and get healthy we'll be alright. what are we since Lee got injured, 4-6?
  23. Aram is a slow starter, always has been, go look at last years numbers, only slightly better. It dosent help that he has NO protection in the lineup either. the leadership thing is a joke, some people can do it, some cant, you cant force someone to be a leader. Aram not hitting is only a small part of the problem.
