  1. That's a very good question. Anybody have any idea? (I have no idea of how to find this out.)
  2. Any predictions on the lineup tonight? I figure it will look something like this: CF - Pie 2B - Theriot 1B - Lee 3B - Ramirez LF - Floyd C - Barrett RF - Barrett SS - Izturis P - Zambrano We'll see if I'm even close to right.
  3. Bob, your avatar paired with this picture is... appropriate. David Aardsma can count this as the first time in his life that I have ever been measurably jealous of him. I'd prefer to see her in the Cubs version of that outfit, however.
  4. I can see that. Soriano's arm > Murton's arm.
  5. I guess I can see why you think that might be a slight to Murton, but I really didn't take it as being so. One almost HAS to believe that Murton, come 2008, will be the full-time right-fielder for the Cubs. On the other hand, I think this shows that Soriano is a team player, and is willing to play the outfield position which he is best suited for. I personally hope Pie never plays in Iowa ever again.
  6. ARod will do whatever Lou tells him to. Plus, don't you think it would be in the back of Rodriguez's mind that he would have the chance to win the GG over his great friend, Derek Jeter? They would be in different leagues. Details. Mental gaffe aside, I find it incredibly unlikely that Rodriguez will turn down the chance to play SS again, if given the opportunity. I'm still trying to figure out what's more likely, A) Deadline deal for A-Rod B) A-Rod opts out and the Cubs sign him. A) seems somewhat improbably since it will probably take Z to pry A-Rod out of the Yankees grip, and I just don't see Hendry trading him if we're in it just because Zambrano might walk at the end of the year. B) seems somewhat more probable though it really depends on how soon the Tribune can wrap up the sale of the Cubs, and what kind of resources the new owner(s) will be bringing to the table. Attempting to get A-Rod seems like a no-brainer though.
  7. Unfounded Rumor Alert: I was discussing Carpenter with a well-informed Cardinals fan friend of mine, and he says it's probably more than likely that Carpenter gets shut down for the year. Any other Cards fans out there thinking the same?
  8. Can we just talk about his girlfriend for a second... http://a515.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/15/l_b2d23883d31d59acd76308ddc70e5bca.jpg Hot cha cha. Not too shabby. I wish I was a journeyman reliever.
  9. They do look really good. I wouldn't mind the addition of the player number to the front of the pinstripes. Give some balance to the front of the uniform.
  10. Goat - I believe you misunderstood Guillen's words. His quote was analyzed to death on AM 1000 and the conclusion reached was that Ozzie was defending his decision to walk Texeira and pitch to Sosa and that he would do it again - hence "Be ready Sammy, you're going hit." If you look at the other quotes recently attributed to Guillen regarding Sosa, he has been nothing but supportive of him. IMO, this quote is being taken out of context in an effort by the media to stir things up. Ozzie Guillen supports Sammy Sosa like George Bush supports freedom. not at all
  11. ARod will do whatever Lou tells him to. Plus, don't you think it would be in the back of Rodriguez's mind that he would have the chance to win the GG over his great friend, Derek Jeter?
  12. We should have only signed Jones to a one-year deal back in the winter of '06. Yes, I'm sure he would have signed to those terms. Exactly.
  13. Wade Miller is the opposite of scrappy. He left yesterday's game with a CLEAN JERSEY.
  14. Umm...maybe because you never see a flying piece of pizza hit someone in the face at a baseball game. Not to mention the announcers were dying laughing. I don't understand how someone could not find this funny. Because sometimes laughing at other people like a bunch of Nelson Muntz lemmings isn't as fun as it sounds. I think the guy who threw it is a jerk. I don't see why people like to celebrate such behavior. Did you read the article? What I gather is the jerk who get the pizza on his shoulder was teasing the guy with the pizza. Calling him names saying "your mother". I know I'd throw a pizza at him! Actually, the way I read it was that the Pizza Tosser had somehow gotten an entire pizza to his seat, and the Victim of Sauce on Jacket and his portly friend were making fun of him because, for some reason, he had an entire pizza at a Red Sox game. With a clear shot at Victim of Sauce on Jacket due to the foul ball, Pizza Tosser made his move. And man, that was an accurate toss.
  15. I agree. There is definately a conundrum of sorts in the OF. We have way too many players battling for at-bats out there, and something needs to be done. Theriot should play everyday. Pie, unless struggling Cedeno-style, should be out there everyday. I think where our opinions may diverge is whether or not Izzy should be our everyday starting SS. I think he shouldn't be. He should be our back-up/late-inning defensive replacement infielder. I'd like to see Theriot at SS, Pie in CF, Soriano in LF, and Murton/Floyd in RF. That limits your predicament to two players, Murton and Floyd. What Lou must figure out is whether Murton full-time would be better than a Murton/Floyd platoon. Something tells me he's not going to come to a definitive conclusion on this issue until sometime in October. That's how I see it anyway.
  16. If someone has pointed this out before, I missed it, but.... What kind of weather does Lou Piniella plan on playing in if the Cubs make the playoffs?
  17. Warrant <<<<<<< Nirvana. Apples and Oranges my friend.
  18. Ahh yes, the only stat that can't be improved. A player can't learn FIRE. and INTENSITY.
  19. Fixed. I'm excited to see Pie play again.
  20. I have a favorite player, I'm going to continue to cheer for him. Get over it. Seriously. Sammy Sosa rules.
  21. WORST. SONG. EVER.
  22. Like 'da' name
  23. YES!!! I wish I could watch this game.
  24. "We all"??? I'm with Danny. I don't think Marquis performance this year is predetermined. Is he going to be a Cy Young candidate, probably not. Can he be an incredibly valuable asset to our pitching staff if he maintains some sense of focus? You betcha. Sell high on Marquis if you can replace the performance, but if you can't, it'd be pretty stupid if we're competing.
