  1. Alright Strop, I think it is possible for you to keep it clean against the Cardinals, conceivably
  2. More runs would be swell, but its good that Lester is cruising
  3. He has always been a bit off the plate from what I've seen. Has he made contact since he has come back from injury? Its upsetting to see my Mini Babe Ruth like this :(
  4. Rockies home/road splits are some of the most irrelevant, playing so much at altitude messes with your ability to recognize breaking pitches on the road where they move more. If the home park is not Coors but an extreme to one end or the other it can be a slight indicator, but generally it's noise. and also hasn't Wrigley played as an extreme pitchers park this season to this point? (Or at least it did last I checked, August may have changed things)
  5. For the sake of all that is holy and good and true in this world, don't lose this game
  6. alright well picking up scrapheap relievers has to work sometimes I guess
  7. I'm watching highlights and i like, though I don't quite understand, the head rubbing thing after Jason Hammel's RBI hit
  8. Kyle Schwarber has been retired, the fix is in, somehow they've hacked the game abandon all hope all ye who enter etc etc
  9. Well I'm glad the Cardinals can prove again how infuriatingly annoying and evil they are Begone demon
  10. I saw it was 8-0 and I was like "cool" and now I'm mad they gave up runs
  11. I like this whole "jump on the Cardinals early" thing
  12. this dude wasn't right about everything, but he had a better eye for the big picture than a lot of people:
  13. it would be our version of what the red sox did to the yankees I'm pretty sure that if they actually overtook the Cardinals and then somehow managed to NOT win the WS I'd give up on baseball. They take the division and I am betting it ALL. Them overtaking the Cardinals and then bombing out in the divisional crapshoot like the 2008 Cubs would be an enormous [expletive] kick in the nads for sure But it's infinitesimally unlikely such a thing could happen and we still have an enormously bright future so you'd have six months to get over it
  14. I still wish Murton was able to find a place on the team. I liked him. We'll always have that 2006 year where he was solidly above average for a while. Seeing names like "Dopirak" and "Hoffpaiur" also gives me pangs of sadness. Thank god that *knocks on woods* the current batch of position players mostly panned out.
  15. Lol Dan Haren 7 IP, 0 R. This game almost makes the acquisition worth it all on it's own.
  16. I think if we're imagining a scenario that the Cubs win the division it would have to involved the Cardinals playing worse than 12-13, we're talking full on collapse play. 8-17 or something. Obv that's why it's unrealistic, but on the fringes of possibility.
  17. Squeeze another inning out of Haren and then let some less-important bullpen guys mop up?
  18. What? We'll be 2 back of the Pirates. You're right I misread the numbers Home playoff game will be nice
  19. Cubs will be 7.5 back of the division and 4.5 back of the WC lead at the end of this game with 26 more games to play Still obscenely difficult and unlikely but...
