  1. Nothing makes a workday go faster than listening to the game Does make the day kinda grumpy though if they lose This Pirates team is destined to lose in the Wild Card round every year until McCutcheon retires or a curse is lifted.
  2. Yeah I misspoke really, what I meant is I'd rather have Baez's defense at 2b, Bryant is more than capable at 3b, and Zobrist is fine in the outfield. I think the Baez > Zobrist at 2b is more valuable than Baez > Bryant at 3b, but we're still trying to gauge Bryant as a major league third basemen really. The missing part there is Bryant vs Zobrist in the outfield. With Bryant's speed I think he be a big plus in the outfield. I'd guess Zobrist has lost some steps. I'd think that the Javy would provide a bigger lift at third because of all the crazy plays his arm allow him to make. At second a big benefit is his ability to turn quick double plays, but that's the sort of skill you'd think would age well with Zobrist. He won't turn quite as many as Baez would, but the plays Baez is able to make at third just wouldn't get made by anyone else. Also, Baez creates more double play opportunities at third, which I'd think would come close to wash with the extra turns you'd get with Baez over Zobrist at second. But really it boils down to Baez having the armto make long throws from up the line or the throws on the run coming in. How many of those would have been hits with Bryant playing? Also if you move Zobrist full time now he's going lose his second base skills quicker over the course of the contract. 38 year old pure outfielder Zobrist doesn't sound great. Primary concern is this year of course, but it is something. Biggest thing in all of it might be your MVP candidate KB might not want to play OF all the time and putting him in LF permanently might hurt the chances of resigning him down the road. Lol just kidding I don't think that's a concern. This team is amazing and I'm guessing he enjoys watching Javy make these plays too. If it was every day that would be one thing, but if Javy's main position is third I'd guess he'll still play SS and 2nd like 30-40% of the time. This is a really smart, good way to think about it. I appreciate this post.
  3. that doesn't matter if the same guys are playing...
  4. I'd rather optimize offense at 3b, play Baez at 2b and put Zobrist in the outfield tbh
  5. Smart of Rizzo to lay off the dongs for a little bit in exchange of half dongs to get his BABIP up. Dude knows what's up.
  6. How's it going my dudes This baseball club for which I root for is quite good I'd say
  7. anyone that makes that swing should be immediately banned from major league baseball
  8. You shut your dirty whore mouth right now. Yeah Joe Mather was unfathomably sucky
  9. Whoa. He's like a reverse Bryant.
  10. There really aren't any underperformers right now though, aside from Heyward. Rizzo, Bryant, Zobrist and Russell are giving us what you could reasonably expect. Fowler, Ross, Sczcur and La Stella and several of the starters are probably *exceeding* expectations. Having no Schwarber sucks but the combined effort by the bench to fill in for him has been probably just as good as what he'd have pitched in. (Maybe better, which is probably not sustainable over the course of a season, but the same can be said for Heyward's production at the plate).
  11. It's extremely annoying that the Cards-Phils would be tied if Wainwright's bat didn't salvage his garbage pitching
  12. i wouldn't say either of those things I don't know why people would be upset with Ben Zobrist so long as he's OBPing between .380 and .390
  13. Amazingly, the Cubs didn't have a single 1-2-3 inning and in fact had the lead off guy on in 5 out of the 9 innings by my count. Incredible.
  14. I haven't been able to watch a second of the game but I'm laughing at this team going 3-18 with RISP and leading 7-2. Both for only batting .166 in such situations and leading so much, and also because we have had 18 at bats with RISP. This team is just absurd.
  15. letting go of Starlin is good and cool IMO Anyway it looks like the Cubs are up 5 late on their biggest rival at the moment so that's cool
  16. Surely the Cardinals start is the feel good story of the year?
  17. The rapidly aging corpse of Ben Zobrist already has a dong, so yes, I don't think its unreasonable to expect Heyward to have a dong
  18. Bryant always looks like he's a little embarrassed and shy about doing stuff the rest of the team does and it makes him all the more adorable :good:
  19. I actually don't think he looks *lost* at the plate. When I hear "lost" I think of someone like Baez or Soler who sometimes just comes up guessing and hacking at garbage and then walking dutifully back to the bench. Heyward's strike zone judgment is as good as it usually is, he's just not hitting much hard. In fact, paradoxically, I know they were talking about adding more loft to his swing this year, and honestly it looks like he's purposefully putting more on the ground (or maybe he's just late and on top of a bunch of stuff, who knows)
  20. This is the least favorable match up for the Cubs during this series so if they can pull this one out my minds on a sweeeeep. If Hammel can keep his homerless streak going I like our chances.
  21. ah jeez. come on dudes don't steal our souls right after lifting them up so much. Rondon, just K some fools ok? Thanks.
  22. well. Here's extras. I like our dudes better than their dudes.
  23. Stop bunting (Maybe he should maybe he totally sucks)
  24. Addison Russell is the 2016 version of 2015 Castro
