  1. I think there's something strange about the lake incident, but I don't think it went down exactly like Ced says either. This latest DWI only reinforces that hunch.
  2. But all the quotes about Hill being a key to Soto's success....came from Hill. Not exactly an unbiased source, and since Soto himself is downplaying that, I'm not sure why Rosenthal decided to make that a large element in the story.
  3. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=49006
  4. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8216254/Soto-does-it-all-for-Cubs He gives a lot of credit to Koyie Hill for helping Soto get to where he is.
  5. I'll go with Brenly. He's much more personable, and doesn't come across nearly as self-important.
  6. Cardinals version: Red Sox Version:
  7. And the Rangers have played one more game than the Cubs to have that lead.
  8. Do you have a girlfriend he can "borrow" for the night? I'm sure Soto is having a real hard time getting his own.
  9. Down and away...Soto's gotta figure that out.
  10. Soto had a slump earlier this season that he worked his way out of. For once we've got a rookie that the Cubs are letting play through his struggles. At his worst he's better than any catcher we put out on the field last year after Barrett's departure.
  11. I would imagine this would help their defense more than anything else...is there a big difference between errors at home in previous years and errors at home this year?
  12. This is for personal reasons, but I'd strongly prefer not doing this. Personally, where I work they block video, including youtube. They also track people that attempt to hit it. So every time I open a thread where a youtube video is embedded, I'd get dinged. It would mean that I'd have to stop surfing NSBB while I'm at work, which I'd obviously rather not do. I'm sure there's other people out there that would have issues with embedded video while at work as well. There's nothing wrong with links. Just speaking for myself here.
  13. Only because they knew that he didn't want the offer that they were prepared to give.
  14. Sorry Banedon, it came from Bruce Levine on talking baseball sat morning. I also heard Edmonds mention it himslef. In the Trib, Edmonds said that Gerald Perry was the one that suggested the stance change. Hence my confusion.
  15. I think D-lee has taken more of a slugger mentality this year. He had his bad year after his wrist injury, and I think decided to take some big rips at some pitches he might normally let go by. It's resulted in more homers and a lower OBP, which fortunately has coincided with an overall increase in team OBP, so it's been masked. But I think it's also resulted in a lot of outs that he normally otherwise wouldn't make.
  16. Um, the phrase is "moo point" No, it's "moot point" http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/moot_point If this was an inside joke or something else that went over my head, forgive me. No, it's moo point. Duh. Like a cow's opinion. It doesn't matter. beautiful The rare Friends reference on NSBB.
  17. Boy he's trying to top himself every week. After bashing the Cubs for playing weak schedule, he comes up with this fine piece of journalism... I read the bold and immediately thought whaaaaaa??? They don't have a rookie in their rotation, and surely they aren't replacing one of their starters right now... What Steve was TRYING to say is that this is the 7th Cardinals rookie (position or pitcher) to make their debut this season. Way to just completely butcher the facts Steve.
  18. Outstanding comparison. He had ridiculous potential just like Prior. And just like Prior, his rookie season made it look like he'd actually live up to that potential. I'm fairly sure Fidrych won Rookie of the Year, and Prior almost certainly would have in 2003 if he had qualified. http://i.cdn.turner.com/sivault/multimedia/photo_gallery/0805/most.unusual.si.covers/images/1977-fidrych.jpg
