  1. Game time and Broadcast info in the subject there buddy. It's ok, everyone has a rough go for their "first time".
  2. I'm opening this thread back up. Drop the movie topic. If you want to discuss it, start a new thread in an appropriate location. Don't make us lock it for good.
  3. Warnings are going out for people in this thread. You regulars really know better.
  4. Ladies and Gentlemen, we've found the NSBB version of the drunk bleacher bum throwing beer at opposing players. He may not be representative of an entire fanbase, but he's an embarrassing douchebag nonetheless... easy there, kiddo Are you suggesting that a drunk throwing beer at opposing players ISN'T embarrassing to decent Cubs fans? Are you suggesting that the Brewers don't have fans that are not exactly representative of the whole? Cut out the namecalling if you want to stay on the board.
  5. I'm at work 2 more hours and I'm bored.
  6. I thought you wanted Howry to close which surely would have been the best choice. No, no...see, he made a nice vague opinion where he listed Wood, Marmol, and Howry, and then didn't say which one he wanted, just not Wood. So now, he can claim that he really wanted Marmol all along...it's a nice CYA move. No need to CYA, I want the best closer for this team. If that is Wood, then do the job. But don't have some phony ST competition, ignore the results and put your boy in there. I hear the same thing from the Bears. "We're gonna have a real competition in training camp. The best one will win out. BLAH..BLAH..BLAH." Kerry Wood=Rex Grossman. If Howry had won the closer job, and sucked as bad as he does now, he'd have more blown saves than Wood does now. Would you be posting today if that were the case? How does Kerry Wood=Rex Grossman? Wood was rookie of the year, pitched one of the best games ever pitched, had numerous injuries, and is having success as a reliever after taking a huge hometown discount for 2 year in a row because of the non-performances he had while he was injured. Which part of that is Rex Grossman?
  7. While I doubt any Cub fans are upset that we don't have to face Gallardo anymore this year, I think most of the mocking is aimed directly in Yost's direction.
  8. Sure...because it's there every year! If it's only in your area for one year, it's a unique experience worth checking out.
  9. A huge mix of transplanted fans from every team is a positive in my book.

  11. No....no way. It's NYC's thing and that's the way it should stay. Why? What gives NYC exclusive rights? I think it'd be great to see some fans outside of the Giants and Jets hooting and hollering in the balcony. Giants, Jets, Cowboys, Redskins and Eagles show up en masse. LA sucks and should not be in the discussion. NY is close to multiple NFL teams, and the home to large chunks of several fan bases. They supported the draft long before it became popular. That being said, it could be fun to see it in Chicago, where you'd get a fair amount of Bears, Packers, Vikings and possibly even Rams fans. DC, Philly, Boston could be decent locales as well. It might be fun to do it beachside in Florida, where you'd get a spring break type atmosphere thrown in. But LA should not be in the mix. I don't have a problem with it being put in centralized locations so fans of multiple teams can attend. You could do it in Atlanta too, and get Falcons, Panthers, Dolphins, Bucs, and maybe Titans fans. The West is tough because most of those teams fans are so far spread out. I imagine the LA idea is to offer an olive branch to the city since they still don't have a team yet. You'd still be able to get plenty of CA team fans there. Why should LA be excluded?

  13. Cedeno is still a better fielder and has more power, no matter how good Theriot may look right now. Problem is they both deserve a shot to start full time, but as long as DeRos doing his thing they wont. Theriot was the opening day starter, and as long as hes proving he can do the job, they're not going to take him out. I remember they were training Cedeno for center at one point, but I guess that didnt work out. Problem is, Theriot is at his ceiling right now. Cedeno isn't.

  15. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/baseball/mlb/05/01/bp.realitycheck/1.html They note that the Cards have had the easiest schedule in the majors, and their pitchers have faced low slugging percentage teams. They also note that Dempster is pitching way above his head, and has a new affinity for ground balls that isn't likely to stay that way.
  16. But but but...Wood has closed now, so he should be ok the rest of the way now right? Cuz he has experience. Budhouse, where were you when Wood was closing well and had a nice little scoreless innings streak going? Now Wood blows a save and here you are, loud and clear. I suspect after he makes his next few saves you'll be amazingly quiet again.
  17. So people aren't allowed to show their displeasure when players make stupid decisions? No people can but a lot of the people posting have criticized not just the play. They have said the things they said a month ago. Not a good player, shouldn't be playing, isn't gritty ... etc. Who ever said that Theriot isn't gritty? David said "Can we officially put to bed this idiotic notion (probably the result of his white grittiness) that Theriot is such a smart, sound player?" That would be someone hinting at the fact that Theriot isn't gritty in his mind. Gritty =/= Smart Sound player Gritty = small, white, hustling, energetic, average to below average. Usually middle infielder, sometimes CF.
  18. Thanks again guys. Lots of plays that defy gameday descriptions today.
  19. He hit 90 against Soriano if gameday is right.
  20. Wanna bet he goes 2 more? Lou was talking about how his pitchers are stretched out and it was time to start letting them throw higher pitch counts.
