  1. But, both of those guys were released by the Bears and are doing better than the Bears highest paid and expected to be #1 WR. Even a declining Moose is doing better. I haven't seen anything from Orton that says it's his fault, to me, it's a combo of Turner, lack of talent from what they have now, and Angelo not providing any talent. None of the WRs are worth a lick, IMO, which is why I want to see Bennett. I don't know if they're doing better...but certainly just as good.... Hester is 26 for 318...they have a few more yards, but I get your point. I'm just saying that the problem isn't losing Gage and Wade. They aren't any great loss. The problem is a poor job replacing them.
  2. Agreed. I'd also look at WR early. Another rant... Is Earl Bennett worse than Davis, Booker, Hester, Lloyd, or the two TE they have lined up at WR? This WR group is awful and Bennett (a 3rd rd pick) can't see the field. Maybe one day Bennett will join the list of WRs that couldn't get reps with the Bears but are shining elsewhere. That list includes Justin Gage, Bobby Wade, and now Mark Bradley. Moose is right about Chicago being the place where WRs go to die. Gage and Wade have done better than any Bears WR and Berrian is on pace for well over 1200 yards. Both Hester and Rashied Davis have better DYAR than either Gage or Wade. That stat makes no sense to me, they have Hester almost equal with Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens despite the fact that both will likely end up with 20 or more catches, more yards, and similar TDs. You can't analyze based on opportunities b/c WRs often create their opportunties based on their ability to separate. And QB's miss open receivers or make bad throws (Grossman overthrowing a wide open Hester last week). But in any case, neither Wade or Gage are in the top 40 receivers in yardage. Gage has 21 rec for 376yds Wade has 38 rec for 399yds Rashied Davis has 29 for 369 Unless you think that Davis has been "shining", I'm not sure how you can claim that either Wade or Gage has been...

I mean...they're on a good team, but aren't the Titans pretty much understood to have a bad receiving core? In fact, both Gage and Wade have negative DYAR, or Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement per Football Outsiders... http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/wr Bradley's only played 5 games, and yes...I'm more upset about his loss, but I don't know that one guy translates into this trend....
  5. Isn't this a really long time between the incident itself and the indictment? Seems like a long time.
  6. It's not fair to pick on any one person, because everyone was bad yesterday, but god Vasher looked awful. Everyone on this team that got paid this season (with the exception of Gould) really has played like crap this season. Briggs started off good, but hasn't done a lot lately.
  7. The Bears look godawful today.
  8. I did too. What happened to last years ABrown. What happened to rookie Mark Anderson. Really and im serious, the pass rush from the interior (Harrison, I2, and the oft injured Tommie) produces more of a pass rush than the ends. I have more confidence in those 3 producing pressure/sacks than the ends. Tommie happened. All those guys benefited from Harris. When he is hurt or playing bad the Cover-2 will not work because most of the pressure is supposed to come from the front four. Tommie doesn't have to be double teamed as often, so the other guys on the line have no shot. No one except Tommie is good enough to defeat a double team. The DBs were not great, but when you have all day to throw even the best will get picked apart. Even against well below average receivers. Actually I thought Alex Brown has been one of the more productive D lineman, though usually it's been getting in the backfield and stopping the run more than getting pressure on the QB. At least we know that Orton will be back, and the offense will be ok. The pass rush has to be solved. It's making our secondary look terrible (or at least worse than they are.)
  9. What happened to last years Ogunleye? I liked him.
  10. Is Ludwick for Holliday much of an upgrade, especially if Ludwick isn't the only player in the deal? Holliday is 2 years younger, but Holliday also costs a bunch more in salary.
  11. So...I let myself get totally completely distracted by politics the last couple months, and somehow I missed all this...(or at least missed how realistic it might be). I am naturally pleasantly surprised.
  12. Can't wait for Mariotti's next Trib column. I was gonna post something snarky, but I think you've pretty well got it under control.
  13. Agree, undecideds will go more for McCain. Obama 7-8. The undecideds won't vote, and those that do will split.
  14. To continue the backup QB conversation from the other thread, since the Culpepper-Lions thing isn't officially done, think the Bears would get in on that?
  15. I don't. At all. Rex still may have more ability, but Kyle has become the better QB. Ill accept that statement after the season. So you want to see a full season out of Kyle before you can say he's better than Rex, who, if you REALLY want to see it bad enough, had one good full season (2006)?
  16. I don't. At all. Rex still may have more ability, but Kyle has become the better QB.
  17. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10262008/sports/yankees/yanks_decision_looking_bad_135306.htm?page=2 I'd love to know what a bad baseball interview sounds like. Brenly: "Oh I really like the bunt...bunt bunt bunt...You think Fielder can learn to bunt? Oh he'd surprise some people. If we gave the first base coach a hamburger I bet he'd beat the throw...." Melvin: "Thanks for coming in, Bob..."
  18. Ok, since all of the polls have Obama ahead by a fair to large margin, I'm only giving the choice of McCain winning, and the Obama margins of victory. If someone wants to post a guess on a McCain margin of victory, just put it in your post, but it's my poll, my rules.... :hello: We're going by popular vote percentage here. If someone wants to start an EV poll, go right ahead.
  19. I read a columnist type suggest it, I haven't read anybody saying it will happen. I don't think it'll work. It's fine for Miami when they are using one of their 2 RBs, but Hester is a little receiver, he's not going to be able to do the same things. And not to be a pessimist about it or anything, but has Hester made anyone miss a tackle all season? Frankly, Hester just doesn't seem all that dangerous so far this year.
  20. I know some people that could use a math tutor. Can I give them your name?
  21. I saw that Lovie hesitated when talking about Vasher yesterday, and said he gave him Sunday off for "we'll call it...personal reasons".
  22. From a purely selfish point of view, I don't like this. I really like the Len and Bob "team", and my wife is actually upset when they aren't doing the broadcast. (When it's Joe Morgan, or Tim McCarver, who can blame her?) And it'll be even worse with him on the Brewers, cuz I don't wanna have to root against him. That said, I'd be happy for him getting a managerial job.
  23. Having some solid pass-catching TE's helps minimize the WR needs as well.
  24. If John McCain said this in a stump speech, he might be able to get enough votes to win.
  25. If we take TE out of the equation, you're really only talking about Benson and Grossman then? And Grossman was a #22 pick...not much ahead of where Olsen was picked, though he is a QB...
