  1. why? you want ryan howard practicing bunts on the one in a million chance he's going to be asked to do it? just because you could bunt in high school against a guy throwing 68 mph doesn't mean every major leaguer is going to be able to do it against a major league pitcher. I get your point and all, but come on....Mike Fontenot is not, and never will be, Ryan Howard.
  2. He really stepped out on a limb with that kind of commitment.
  3. i hate this argument. you know, the one that assumes getting down a squeeze bunt is just as easy as putting the bat out there and viola the run scores. Not at all...but it should be pretty reasonable to ask for some contact...
  4. Snayke is saying that instead of messing with old boringness of something that already works (the NFL Draft), that ESPN should be exploring the new hotness that is the UFC. Or something.
  5. We need someone to go twitter about this deal, and say that it's a done deal, and throw some names out there....so Hendry gets all nervous and calls it off.
  6. Don Banks on CNNsi.com has the Bears as 13: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/07/28/pre-camp-rankings/index.html?bcnn=yes
  7. Isn't it a complete misuse of sabremetrics to analyze a single game 6 AB outing? Isn't the whole point of sabermetrics to be predictive, and analyze trends? Using it on such an obviously small sample size seems to be completely meaningless.
  8. Who cares about UFC? Probably the million people that buy their PPVs. Yeah, ESPN is really kicking itself over missing the boat on WWE too.
  9. We've also won in the last week with Soto on the DL, so we can conclusively determine that we do not need Geovany Soto on this team.
  10. CSN says 4-10 weeks. That's more than just preseason. That's gonna hurt. Why the hell would he wait until 3 days before training camp to have this surgery?
  11. He wants to see him not screw up for a period of time being that he has only been free for a couple of days. Vick can thank players like Adam Jones for this kind of treatment. I agree this is the Pacman Jones treatment...but Leonard Little/Stallworth/Ray Lewis killed people! Every team has a roster fill of guys who have beat their wives or done things worse than Vick. Don't get me wrong, Vick isn't a good guy and not one you'd want your daughter to spend time with. But it's disgusting that groups like PETA have warped society to put more value in a dogs life than a humans. He's paid his debt, reinstate him unconditionally. Stallworth isn't playing...he's suspended indefinitely until the legal issues are resolved. Ray Lewis was never convicted of hurting anyone. Little's issues occurred before Goodell's reign. Goodell has been pretty consistent with dealing with players convicted of crimes since he took over.
  12. No discussion about the NFL draft moving to prime time?
  13. Foxsports.com has them 20th. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings
  14. First ESPN Power rankings of the season out.....Bears are #13 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerranking?season=2009&week=0 Vikings are #9
  15. wtf with the warning track power today.
  16. Harden looks solid today....even though it's a home game....during the day....
  17. Huh....hey Bruce, was there bad blood between you and Stone before this?
  18. Agreed. I'd much rather have ESPN talk about Romo breaking up with Jessica Simpson and Terrell Owens' new reality show. What do you expect to happen? This isn't like a no-hitter, which happen a couple times per year. There have only been 16 in the modern era, which is one every six or seven years. I didn't say that I was surprised by it. I can be sick of something that I fully expect.
  19. gotta love hyperbole. You spell "fact" funny. ;)
  20. Copy/Paste fail. I meant to only post the Izturis/Maddux part of that.

    Golf

Good description, although my thoughts are quite a bit shorter...lol. I still personally like the US Open best. I just love how hard it is. And the Masters doesn't measure up in my mind because it's the same course every year. I love seeing different courses.
