182 yard 8-iron within 6 inches. It's just ridiculous. I've also been impressed with the way Tiger stuck up for Paddy after they were put on the clock Sunday and called out the officials for affecting the outcome. They were the only two in contention, it was extremely entertaining and they finished 3 minutes after 6:00. It was completely unnecessary in that situation and the officials should have known better. He's gonna get fined for that too. But I wouldn't be surprised if it leads to a rule change.
  2. Hester also has had to deal with a lot of balls that were thrown behind him, or underthrown that he had to fight for, which isn't really his game.
  3. I suppose not...I guess my point is that football the focus is who will or won't make the team. In baseball, it's not just about that. It's about trying out for different levels of the minor league system, which a lot of fans just don't care about. Baseball has a much, much larger system of player development that is in play. There's nothing wrong with that, it just doesn't make for compelling viewing, imo. But for those on the site that are into the minor leagues a lot, then obviously that makes a difference. I just don't think for the average fan that is the case.
  4. If you were into the minor leagues as much as many on this site are, I can see how you would really enjoy ST, but I'm going to guess that the average fan couldn't name more than one or two minor league players in their home team's system.
  5. I hope this gets posted over on broncosforum.com. I've been lurking there a lot since the Cutler trade. :P
  6. I saw a vid of the cab driver speaking and he claimed that he DID say that. Actually, it's the vid at the top of this page The witness who saw Kane doing it (and was the person who called the police) claims he was yelling that too. ("You don't know who you're $*&%ing with!!") But its like Banedon already said, even though they were in Buffalo which is basically Canada, 99% of the country still wouldn't recognize Kane. The more I think about it, probably a lot more people in Buffalo would recognize him, but still.
  7. A hockey player of any caliber shouting "Don't you know who I am" is delusional. Because I'm guessing that around 90% (very scientific percentage) of the population would say "no".
  8. The only possible explanation I can come up with, is that the ump was point to first as if to say "take your base".
  9. Why do people still ask this dumb question. Maybe you don't dislike Cardinal players simply because they play for our arch rival but a whole lot of people do. Well, that's dumb. Are you new to sports? haha, fair enough. I just think the whole "hate him because he's good" thing is kind of middle-school-ish. Should we go look up your posts on Jim Edmonds?

  11. agreed. I couldn't make it one series before turning it off When it's my team playing though, I'll watch the whole thing.
  12. I have too, but most recently, I think he's become more sensationalistic. I still like him, but like many on that station, he comes to some odd conclusions for the purposes of getting ratings...or at least that's the conclusion I've come to. Yeah, but it hasn't just been him though. OK, I'm going to file this into the "rumor and innuendo" file for now. Oh certainly not.

  14. And from what I've been reading, Marinielli is talking about his explosion off the line. Of course, I can't find that now...:P
  15. Still not quite right...there's no guarantee that is how it would've gone down if the Cubs had put in a claim. If Hendry had put in a claim, the Yankees would have had 3 options: 1) Pull Cano back. 2) Allow the Cubs to have him...taking on his entire salary. 3) Work out a trade. At this point, every team declined to put in a claim, thus he has "passed through waivers". That means at this point, the Yankees can keep him, or trade him, but option 2 is no longer available. You might view it as semantics, but it's actually quite different.
  16. Bears first depth chart being released sometime today.
  17. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/08/08/broncos.insider/1.html For some reason, this struck me as pretty funny. Bragging about overthrows. On an unrelated note, if you cut and paste from CNNSI, it adds a link to the story in the clipboard when you paste. Weird.
  18. Who the hell is Devin Aromashodu?

  20. Well I think it's safe to say that Fukudome's sophomore season is a wee bit better than his rookie year.
  21. You shouldn't comment on things you know absolutely nothing about. Um...what? That makes no sense. Are you saing he doesn't know anything about being a fake ass cubs fan, or abandoning his team for a different crappy team. Cuz...ouch. Burn.
  22. He had a double June 17 vs the White Sox. Went on the DL on Jun 21. I have an update to this, if you're interested.
  23. Everything feels like the end of the season. If NSBB is an accurate barometer, the Cubs season has ended approximately 34.3 trillion times. Yep...we could be coming off a 5 game win streak, and people would be losing their mind because we're down.
  24. It would have been unfair to the sport of baseball for the Cubs to have gotten out of that inning with only 2 runs given up.
