  1. Wells is going to end up being our best pitcher this year. Who woulda thunk?
  2. As far as Orton not getting treated as badly as Rex, there's 2 reasons I think. One is expectations. Rex was a first round draft pick. Kyle was what...4th or 5th round? And the other is Orton filling in as a rookie and keep the Bears successful enough to win the division and make the playoffs, even if it was Rex that finished the season. It bought him a lot of leeway.
  3. Wasn't this pretty well known a long time ago? He'll still be doing punt returns.
  4. Agreed. I think that's the best case scenario, not the worst. I didn't realize he was 39, he still looks like he is 18. So did Biggio at that age. There's something in the Houston water. So maybe the move to Flushing Meadows forced him to age 20 years in a hurry. Wait till you see him next year. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/Banedon/wagnersixflags.jpg
  5. You lost the race. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=55354
  6. In his interview with Mulley and Hanley the other day, he guessed that he might have seen more 3-4 than 4-3.
  7. Me too. I'm still keeping up with the news but I'm not nearly as excited... I need a game to look forward to.... even then, I'm not THAT enthused about the preseason games (except for getting to take a look at a few players in particular). I want that SNF game @ Lambeau and then I want that home opener vs. the defending champs to happen already. What a way to start the season. I'm a little worried about that game. A couple more weeks of basking in the Cutler glow sounds good to me, much as I am excited for the season. I'm not worried about that game. They'll be playing a entirely new defense that will be getting it's first real game action. I think it's gonna be fun.

  9. Something is going to happen to prevent Marquis from playing in the playoffs. It's just the way things work.
  10. Rivers career: 62.3 comp %; 78:36 TD:INT; 12.0 y/c; 92.9 QB rating Cutler career: 62.5 comp %; 54:37 TD:INT; 11.8 y/c; 87.1 QB rating Rivers has been better, but he's also 2 years older than Cutler is. If Cutler has a good to great season for the Bears, he at 26 years old will definitely get as large or larger a contract than Rivers at 28 years old. Rivers played on a team with a lot better defense too. Rivers wasn't playing catchup as often as Cutler, and therefore didn't have nearly the number of endgame INT's as Cutler. Though admittedly, I doubt that kind of detail will go into evaluation for a contract.
  11. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-07-bears-bits-chicago-aug07,0,5394943.story 1) A safety surprise would be welcome. 2) I shall forever call him Alfalfa.
  12. Bo Jackson did it. Selected first overall in 86 by the Bucs but didn't sign out of principle. He was then selected in 87 by the Raiders in the 7th round. What was the principle? lol they lied to him about the legality of a "visit" and it cost him his senior year of baseball at Auburn. So yes, certainly nothing to "lol" about I think. Bo was quite pissed about that. Oh take it easy...I didn't know, and I figured the princple was "they won't pay me enough"...so describing it as a "principle" amused me. That's why I asked.
  13. Funny...the board software has always had an issue with Fullback

  15. Yeah sure. Nice bluff. And if does go through with it, I hope the NFL owners collude against his entitled ass and don't draft him at all next year. Wasn't it you that was in love with Crabtree, or am I thinking of someone else? DEFINITELY not me. I can't stand him and I'm glad Ole Miss stifled him down in his final college game. I wasn't big on anyone in this draft. I was a massive Patrick Willis homer several years ago and I'm happy to say that my man-crush continues because he's still such a badass. Ahhhh...yeah Willis was the one I was thinking of. Dunno why in the world I had Crabtree stuck in my head.

Yeah...I thought there was somebody OMC was ga-ga for...thought it was Crabtree, but I guess not.

  20. Bears to sign C Donovan Raiola assuming he passes his physical. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/08/source_bears_will_sign_center.html

  22. Yes, he tossed a shutout earlier this year while pitching for the Phillies' AAA affiliate, Lehigh Valley Ironpigs. I knew the answer would probably be yes, I'm just ticked the Cubs let this guy off the hook. They should have been able to score at least 4 runs off this guy, his stuff was and is nothing special. The only that may have been special is the whole being baffled by some one they haven't faced before nonsense. Randy Wells' stuff isn't anything special either, but he keeps managing to get big league hitters out.
