  1. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/norman_chad/08/30/couch.slouch/index.html?eref=T1 BTW...this article is by Norman Chad, of WSoP announcer fame.
  2. Yeah...I'll get that fixed. EDIT: Done. Let me know if there's still any issues related to that.
  3. I hope you're right, but I could see other teams seeing that Pace is having issues with a small guy and line up a LB or something on him... He looked better in the later drives. It could be a concern, but the Bears were giving help to St. Clair on a bunch of plays last year. Giving Pace some help on a few plays, if the situation calls for it, would still be an improvement. Yeah....it was just one game, and a preseason one at that. I'm not overly concerned yet.
  4. There's a number of positions that I'd rather pick someone off the scrap heap to upgrade depth on other than QB. For QB it's Cutler or nothing, IMO.

  6. I know the defenses have changed over the offseason, but just for fun: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef 2008 Defensive Efficiency rankings Cleveland - 17th Buffalo - 22nd Arizona - 23rd I'm not really looking to draw any great big conclusions from this, just for informational purposes and all....:D
  7. Marshall suspended for the rest of the preseason for conduct detrimental to the team. He's making Cutler look like he was nothing but a professional.
  8. poorly? I wouldn't want him back on my team or anything but he did put in a lot of effort. There was a point that it looked like he should be playing and wasn't. You didn't hear complaining from him about it. He just took his opportunities when he could and was quiet about it. If they gave me a chance, I'd put in more effort than Matt Murton. I'd probably never hit the ball out of the infield, but I'd try like the dickens. Would you mourn my designation for assignment if I didn't complain about it?
  9. The Broncos are set to be a complete disaster of a team this year.
  10. I'm just not sure what he could possibly say that would make his potential departure more important than Jim Hendry's.
  11. Bernstein was suggesting yesterday that he's not buying that Lou wants to stay for next year...instead he thinks Lou is posturing to get "fired". Basically that he wants a buyout of at least a portion of his salary for next season. I could see that.
  12. Fan-Fricken-tastic! :banghead: In my opinion, Rickett's is 0-for-1. I would rather Hendry stay than Kenney, by a long shot. Why? Hendry affects players on the field. Kenney doesn't.
  13. I edited the title...cuz yeah, it was confusing...it seemed like news more than speculation.
  14. George Burns in 1923 was playing 1B when he had his unassisted triple play. Well WTF...I was looking at that list when I wrote the post and somehow completely missed that.
  15. If that happened, I might actually have to re-evaluate my team loyalties.
  16. Some would say Cutler is a jerk that backs it up.
  17. I really don't think the move to the Bears will make all that much difference. If he stayed in Denver and had a similar season in 2009 he was going to get a market rate contract. He might wind up making more if he turns into a super bowl winning and/or HOF caliber QB in Chicago rather than Denver, based on other sources of income, but not football contract. Then again, it's not like Elway lacked for outside revenue sources. If Cutler were to keep up the same pace as he had last season (which is probably a stretch), he would have the most passing yards in Bears history after Game 4 of his 4th season with the Bears. Not that that alone makes him a HOF QB...but it was an interesting tidbit I read somewhere.
  18. He's a football guy.
  19. Don't taze me, bro.
  20. I'll be shocked if Cutler doesn't get a $100 million deal.
  21. From his twitter:
  22. Pretty cool addon bit of info. The previous one that ended a game...was the only one that wasn't made by either a SS or 2B. Johnny Neun in 1927 was playing 1B...and caught a line drive, tagged the runner, and then beat the returning runner to 2nd to end the game.
  23. Agreed. But there's been something like 15 unassisted triple plays. This was only the 2nd to end the game. Which is what Roast was talking about.
  24. Jesus, debbie downer. No one is saying it took incredible skill to make the play, it's just pretty cool that this is only the second time in baseball history it has ever happened. Didn't Asdrubel Cabrera just do it last year? No. That's funny, because there's a clip of the Indians announcers calling an unassisted triple play by Asrubal Cabrera in MLB 09:The Show Not to end the game.
